5 simple hours separate me from work and vacation. Luckily I have so much to do at work that before I know it, 2 o’clock will be calling and I’ll soon be reunited with my family at our beach house in York, ME.
This is what our vacation to our beach house looked like last year:
We were wondering if Ryan was going to propose to Chelsey on this vacation, but he left us hanging and waited 5 more months.
Playing the animal game. If you don’t know it, whoever is taking the picture calls out an animal, and you jump around to the camera and act it out. I think this was ostrich. Apparently Ryan was a little off on this one.
We debated making this our family Christmas card. In case you couldn’t tell, we are cougars. My hair…
I’m hoping this year is just as fun! We’ll be down 1 person as opposed to last year as I’m a single girl, but luckily my aunt, uncle and cousins will be up there at their beach house so I’m hoping for a fun Lewis’ weekend!
Before vacation starts though, I want you all to know that I can barely move. Yesterday on my lunch, my cousin Jenn came down to Manchester to put me through a Crossfit workout.
Oh my goodness, I wanted to die during and after the workout, and for 15 minutes I was happy but not happy with Jenn.
We started off with some stretching on the foam roller. I never would have thought stretching would happen on a foam roller, but I loved it and it felt good! It was then time for a 500 m warm-up on the rowing machine. It’s nice to finally know the proper way to row.
Jenn was the best coach, even when she wouldn’t let me stop during her rendition of Fight Gone Bad.
It looked like this:
Each exercise for 1 minute, no stopping:
- Kettlebell Swings
- Goblet Squats
- Box Jumps
- Dumbbell push-press
1 minute rest. Repeat 2 more times.
Woof. This killed me. My first box jump my legs were already jello and I ate shit. Hold your applause please, it was my only shit eating moment… surprisingly.
I wanted to stop so many times, and there were a handful of moments I didn’t think I could do another rep, but Jenn was amazing and pushed me through it. She wouldn’t even let me lower my weight.
The workout sucked, but it was awesome. I debated log-rolling down the street back to work.
I really loved how great of a workout I got in such little time.
I definitely am considering trying Crossfit, and there is a box in the building next to mine. They offer a 10 class pass card for $100, which I think would be great to see if I really like it!
Also, I do not know how to pack. I have about 500 pounds of clothes and electronics (running watch, ipod, ipad, laptop, and chargers for all 4 gadgets).
It doesn’t sound it, but this will be a pretty gadget free weekend. I will post Thursday and Friday, otherwise I’ll be back Monday on here. iPad is coming with me so that the world doesn’t fall apart at work without me. Besides that, I plan on early morning beach runs, beach days, and nights out in beautiful Maine. Yayy!
Are you scared of Crossfit, or are you a die-hard?
If you are a die-hard, please send me advice on how you got into it!
