On Tuesday night, Janine and I were lucky enough to get Muse Paintbar, a local paint and wine bar in Manchester, NH that teaches attendees how to paint, all while drinking and eating food, to host one of our June Blog & Tweet NH events.
Muse Paintbar has their calendar on their website which includes which painting will be taught on each day, making it easy to plan what day you’ll go, around which painting you prefer to go home with.
I sat with Sarah, who I abso-freakin-lutely love. We surfed next to each other at last month’s Blog & Tweet event, and I’m devastated that she won’t be able to make our next event in several weekends.
Still, it was so much fun goofing off with Sarah, and crying over our painting mistakes. While we waited for the first set of colors to dry, I challenged Sarah to a paint brush war, and I’m not sure who won, but I’ll say she did.
During the painting lessons, our instructor, Vanessa, who is the coolest chick ever, gave us detailed and step by step instructions on what to paint where and when, and which paint brush and colors to use.
On Sarah’s right and across from her, were Janine and Kathi, who is Janine’s wicked cool Mom. She’s BIG on Twitter and the coolest Mom out there (after my Mom of course :)).
After about 3 hours of painting and goofing off, we finally finished our pieces, and Vanessa happily took a handful of pictures for us. She had us being serious, happy, and crazy. She’d easily fit into our group. 😉 This was us “jumping,” but I can only jump about 2 inches, so I just awkwardly stood there.
I had high expectations of my picture, but to be honest, I’m not as pleased with part of the sky. I accidentily got purple on my brush and that forced me to go for a dark sky. I went with it, and when I came home, my roomies asked what I bought and how much I’d sell it for. Ha! They had no idea where I had been! Maybe I should change careers!
Muse Paintbar was awesome for allowing us NH bloggers and social media freaks to experience a painting class free of charge, and I would easily go back in the future. Each session costs $35, and they have various classes held on the weekday evenings, and weekend afternoons.
I feel like this is something my Mom would really enjoy, and even if you don’t have a place to hang your painting, it’s such a fun experience to share with your family, significant other, or group of friends.
I can’t wait to go back!
Plus, the bartender(stolen from Kathi) there is super cute, so if you go, ask to see if you can paint him! 😉
