Day In The Life

Wednesday. I wake up, look at my phone. It say 4:49 am. My alarm will go off in 3 minutes, so I get up anyways. I wash my face and mix my pre-workout while I pack my gym bag. I just bought this on Sunday and l-o-v-e it. It tastes like the pineapple juice that’s in cans of diced pineapple. No jitters either!

imageSince it’s an active rest day and I know I don’t need to meet Ashley at the gym at 5:25, I take my time getting ready. Apparently I’m really taking my time, because I look at the clock and it’s 5:16! Usually I’m out the door at 5:10. Oh well!

Thankfully the first picture I realized that my tank top was inside out so I take everything off, turn it rightside out, take a picture, and head out the door.imageAt the gym, I walk for 3 miles (1 hour) at an incline while watching Castle, before heading over to work. Work parking lot selfie. This is what I look like with no make-up on.

Crossing my fingers that I don’t set the alarm off at work since I get there so early.image

Since I barely broke a sweat, I showered, threw in some dry shampoo, tossed some make-up on, and was at my desk doing non-work work at 7:20.

imageAfter a cup of coffee, I dig into a bowl of oats made with oatmeal, cauliflower crumbles, cinnamon, chia seeds, egg whites, sliced banana, and top it with peanut butter and maple syrup. I know it sounds really disgusting, but it is SO good!

imageI work until 12, and then my cravings are in full force, so instead of finding candy in the office, I enjoy my snack of a protein waffle with peanut butter for an early lunch. I had 7 waffle triangles. Score!

imageAround 2 I head out for my lunch hour, and head to Market Basket to grab several groceries.

imageI work from 3-5, but not before I break into my original lunch around 4 pm. Chicken, green beans, sweet potato and broccoli slaw with coconut oil mixed in.

imageAfter work I head home, work on a Powerpoint presentation and then start this blog post while updating my old laptop, while watching Chicago Fire. Phew! I’m not that hungry, but around 7 I make a protein shake since I know I need more food in me.

imageI crawl into bed around 7:30 and read until 8:30, and then it’s lights out!

Catching Up On Life

Hi friends, oh I’ve kind of missed you and I kind of haven’t. It’s been nice to take a step back from this little blog and live my life. Just kidding, I spent the last week plus sick and exhausted, so there wasn’t much to report. I have managed to take pictures or screenshots for the past week, so I’ll recap what you missed with the pictures!

From the 4th until the 14th I was severely exhausted. You know that feeling when NyQuil finally kicks in and your body is just there and you feel so tired that you can’t even move? That is how I felt from the moment I would wake up, until I went to bed. It was awful. Even with 8-9 hours of sleep, I woke up exhausted.

Last Wednesday I had blood work done, and Ryan Reynolds was so sweet to sit with me in the waiting room.

It turns out I had a viral infection along with low Vitamin D levels. That would explain it. A double whammy on the exhaustion levels.

I turned 28 over the weekend. I did nothing because I was exhausted and had a migraine. Great way to start the new year off haha. BUT, my parents made sure I had an amazing day and spoiled me rotten. Not to mention that my Dad drove 40 minutes away on a wild goose chase just to get me an apple fritter for my birthday cake. My Mom, Dad and I devoured the apple fritters. We had never had them before, and we all fell in love. We just sat around the platter digging into them. I love my parents!

Birthday dinner. My Dad did not disappoint, and I’m still eating that chicken this week!

My cousin Jenn sent me this, and it is perfect.

This is a look into what’s been keeping me so busy during me weeknights and weekends. Not Nessie. I’m extremely excited for the future!

I really want this portable scale! This is really random, but I’m sure some of you would love this too.

I’m still on my peanut butter and maple syrup oatmeal kick. I eat this twice a day. For breakfast and for a snack. It really makes life easier on my wallet, which will be stretched oh so thin for the next 2 years.

And I think that’s about it! I’m finally feeling back to normal, thank goodness, so I cannot wait to really get back into tougher workouts. Oh, and I’m really happy! 🙂

What have you been up to? Fill me in on your life!

Catching Up & No Longer Just Living On The Weekends

2 posts in one week? I’m wondering if you’re just as surprised as I am! It’s been a crazy few weeks over here, and lately I just have had no desire to hop on my laptop after work to type up a post. That and I haven’t had too much to talk about.

I am going to do my absolute best to stick to a 3 day a week posting schedule. After eating like a complete B, I’ve snapped back to reality and have had a really amazing week on this current cut that my coach has me on. I’m feeling better than ever. My clothes are fitting better and the number on the scale is going down.

imageMy endurance is improving, and my muscles are making a reappearance, which is incredibly exciting.image

Last night after work I threw on a pair of heels and headed out for a glass of wine and pizza. I’m doing my best to not just live and have fun on the weekends, so saying “yes” to weeknight plans has been occurring more often lately. It’s helping me find a balance with my workouts, work and social life.

Like on Monday night, after work I had dinner in Maine, and since I didn’t go to bed until close to 11 pm, I chose to sleep in until 7 am and skip the gym entirely on Tuesday. Somehow my pants fit better after a night of eating chips & salsa, tacos, a Mexican frosty with fries, and not working out the following day. I can get on board with that!

What else can we ramble on about?

This tub of pineapple BCAA’s are my new kryptonite. I drink it after my workout and before bed. I know it’s meant for during a workout, but this is when I like to drink it. I drink it shortly after dinner for a hit of sweetness, and it makes my belly feel incredibly full, which hasn’t left me wanting to eat dessert. Also, that candle. It was part of my Valentine’s Day gift from my parents, and I am obsessed!

imageI’ve finally had the motivation again to meal prep, and my current favorite meal is chicken, sweet potatoes and broccoli, dosed in this ranch seasoning. It really takes broccoli up 15 levels, and I’ve found myself wanting broccoli with this ranch seasoning for dessert. It is that good, and I am that weird!

And that’s about it! I’m truly going to make a plan to blog 3 days a week, starting next week, so I will see you on Monday!

What are your weekend plans?

What made you happy this week?

Fitness Plans & The Truth About Dating

Hi there my friends! I’m surprised I’m popping in today with a post because I’ve really had zero desire to blog lately. All I do during the winter is eat, sleep, workout, and work… and on weekends I play. I live a boring life, and now that I am practically retired from dating, what the heck am I supposed to talk about.

I will just have to dedicate posts to my ramblings, like yesterday I voted in the NH Primaries.

I have been working with a new coach the past 3 ½ weeks. Katie is programming both my workouts and my macros. In regards to workouts, she is going to turn me into a better runner, so she has specifically programmed strength workouts and training runs. I love it. I feel as if I have found a coach who is perfect for me, as she, as well, has a love for both lifting and running. I have about 8 weeks left in this cut she has me on, and I’m excited to see results!

When I told Katie my goals, I said that I wanted to get stronger, but also to be a better runner and really get my pace down, so she puts me through very complex workouts that will get me to my goal.

I’ve been in a total funk with my eating lately, and while I would say I was at 95% motivation and drive, I was missing that last 5% that would make it click, aka, that would have me hitting my macros spot on. I would do so perfect during the day, and after dinner when I was bored, I would eat. Nothing big. Just something small here and there, but even something small can derail you! I had a legit meltdown to Lindsay on Monday morning, and just letting it all out truly helped, and I swear, the moment after I barfed my emotions to her, it all just clicked.

So 2 days I’m feeling 100% driven, so let’s all cross our fingers that it continues.

What else can we ramble about? Today marks the first day of Lent. I’ve decided to give up unnecessary spending on workout clothes, shoes, clothing, random things, etc, along with giving up unnecessary nighttime eating. <– that will be hard, ha!

Also, I had to come out of dating retirement.  I swear, not even a week into being retired and I had to come out. Men really bother me, ha!

I don’t think my Mom approves of my dating retirement because she is #TeamBabies, and she asked if I was being too picky. I said, “Mom, I just want a guy to like me back, and it’s getting to be tiring.” Dating is not fun anymore. It’s hard to find a guy that wants more than just a booty call, and when he does want something more, for some reason, there is no mutual “likeness.” After awhile, it really starts to mess with your confidence, and you begin to pick yourself apart and start rattling off things that he “maybe” doesn’t like about you. Must be my hips, or my thighs, or maybe it’s my arms. Why did my face start breaking out? I swear it’s never like this. Maybe he thinks my way of eating is weird.. yadda yadda yadda, the list can go on and on until you don’t even recognize the girl in the mirror that you just self-destroyed.

And that’s why I wanted to take a step back from dating. Because I’m tired of meeting guys who only want one thing. I’m tired of continuous first dates, and being left with feelings of unworthiness. I’m tired of seeing my confidence get rocked and shattered. I’m tired of not being as happy as I was when I was confident and only relied on my own self-worth. And the worst part is, is that they’re not the ones saying these things… I am!

Hey Allie, guess what… sometimes you can go on one date and know that they aren’t the one you’ll marry. I have that happen a lot where I know the guy isn’t my future husband after one date, and men have the same right to have those feelings. So next time you think something is wrong with you, maybe you two just aren’t right for each other, and that’s all it is!

I want a man that wants to take me out. That asks me questions about big and little things because he genuinely cares. I want someone who likes me for me and that never makes me feel like I need to change or that I’m not good enough. So after this date, until I come across that genuine guy, I want absolutely nothing to do with dating, or guy’s ideology of what dating is.

And lastly for Lent, I am giving up tearing myself apart.

Time for me to end this post, as I just heard a knock on the door and it looks as if my sass and confidence has decided to move back into my apartment. Party time!

Monday & Tuesday High-Tides & Dramatic Low-Tides

Happy Wednesday to all of my friends! Did you have a good Monday & Tuesday, or did you have an extreme case of the Monday blues? My Monday was pretty fantastic, and since I haven’t done a post like this in awhile, I thought today would be a great day for a high tide vs. low tide post. High tides are the positives of the day, while a low tide would be something not so good that happened. Thankfully, my low tides involved me being dramatic, so all in all, it turned out to be a good Monday, with a rougher Tuesday!

Monday High Tide

Being back at the gym with the normal weekday crowd. Whenever I travel, I’m almost positive that I miss the gym more than I miss my own bed! I’m the type who loves having a routine, so this was the perfect way to start my Monday! I walked for 6 minutes while talking to Ashley, who was waiting to see if my 2 gym crushes would show up so that she could see who they were, before I jogged for 10 minutes as my warm-up. After that, I completed a back and mini shoulder workout that left me feeling strong!

Monday Low Tide

Sadly, said gym crushes were no-shows at the gym. I’m on a mission to talk to one of them, and I was all ready to talk to him today, and of course he didn’t show up. Dramatic low-tide, I know.

Monday High Tide

Leaving Target with only items that were on my list and that I needed. I’ve started a new budget and a new method of spending my money that should hopefully be very beneficial for me. I’ve always used my credit card to earn my reward points, and then paying it off, but all too easily I’ve bought more than I need. From here on out, I will only be using my debit card for my purchases, and hopefully the fact that I’m using my money in real-time will encourage me to put less items in my shopping cart, both online and in-store. Those reward points are pretty, but not when I buy things that I don’t have a need for!

Tuesday High-Tide

I started my morning off with a wonderful shoulder workout and attempted to smile at one of my gym crushes. Now I say that I attempted a smile because I think it was a closed mouth smile, and he is so tall, that I think I smiled at his chest, which I mean, is something to smile about!

Tuesday High-Tide

I was not able to do another round of the Whole30 as I had planned to for the month of January due to work travel, so while I’ve kept mostly to chicken, lean beef, loads of veggies, fruit and nuts, I’ve begun testing out oatmeal, and it appears that my stomach can handle it! I grabbed a container of the quick steel-cut oats, and I love it! I’ve always preferred the taste of steel-cut over old-fashioned oats, but I never had the time to make steel-cut on the stove top, so this version is perfect!

Tuesday Low-Tide

I pointed out gym crush #2 of mine to Ashley and she informed me that after 4 months of drooling, said crush is engaged. Oh I’m sorry, but how dare you be in love already! Rude! Did I say that you could be engaged? Thank goodness I have more than 1 crush at the gym, haha!

Tuesday Low-Tide

In all of my years of making shakes, I have never once put in more than allotted, but with this extra-high top, well, I screwed myself over.

Tuesday High-Tide

I don’t feel right ending on a low-tide, so in an effort to think of something, while I was in Orlando last week, Millennium Running, my local running race event company opened up 500 extra bibs for the Snowflake Shuffle. This race sells out every year in hours because you get a sweatshirt as swag (if you read “as swag” as “ass swag,” you’re not alone. I did as well during proofing), so I was able to snag an extra bib, and I get this friggen AWESOME sweatshirt! The race is this Sunday, and race #2 of January for me, and because of this, I’m counting this as my February race for money purposes. Their only February race is a Tuesday night around 7, and that doesn’t sound fun, so my rules means that 2 January races = Jan & Feb races complete. 🙂

Weekend Recap: Universal Studios & Lots of Sleep

Happy Monday friends! It feels so good to be home and back into my normal routine. The last few days were quite tiring with my work trip, but I’m happy to have my bed back, to be able to cook healthy meals in my kitchen, to go to bed when I want, and to be back at the gym!

Before flying home on Saturday, my Friday evening was spent at Universal Studios with my company. We had the park from 6-11, but from 8-11, the park was closed, and we had several sections rented

Nate and Tristan dragged me to the Transformers ride, which was really awesome, but going on it after a loopy roller coaster really messed with my equilibrium.universalWe lost Tristan after the ride, so Nate and I wandered around and far the bar named after me! Lewie is one of my nicknames, so Louie’s Bar was my own!universalWe left Universal a little after 11, but I spent the next few hours talking the night away, before heading to bed at 1:30. Bad idea when you have a 4:23 am wake up call. I was down in the lobby for 4:45, where 8 of us were driven to the airport for our 6:30 flight. Thankfully we had the plane to ourselves, and I was able to stretch out and sleep for the 2 1/2 hour flight.

My Saturday was spent napping, getting groceries, napping some more, watching a really horrible movie, and being asleep by 6:15 pm. Ha!! I also thought that after a three 15-hour work days and little sleep, that this drink was worth the $4. It was really delicious, so it was worth it!

synergy-kombuchaI slept TWELVE hours, and woke up at 6:20 feeling like a whole new woman! I got to the gym around 7, where I ran for roughly 20 minutes, before Ashley arrived. We did a leg workout together, that torched our little legs. I LOVE working out with Ashley. Girl talk is so much fun with her!

The rest of my rainy Sunday was spent cleaning my apartment, prepping meals for the work week, and watching movies with my Mom. She had foot surgery last week, so I dropped by to visit and spend some time with her! And to end the night, catching up on some reading!

And the two winners of my Larabar giveaway are Sarah & Cheryl.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Popping In To Say Hi

Greetings from Florida!

I wish that I could be soaking up the sun, but I’m not.

I flew out Wednesday, and leave Saturday early morning for our yearly winter work trip. It’s been mostly all work; 15 hour work days, but I did manage to get in an incredible 30 minute cardio workout in my room.

And this morning I explored the hotel gym, which is incredible! There are 4-5 separate areas; cardio, spin room, core room and the weight area. It’s beautiful and I really wish I had more time here. It’s nicer than the gym that I go to!

And one of the highlights so far was last night we had the actor best known as Gunny, and HGTV personality Jen Bertrand signing autographs for 3 hours.

I was unexpectedly put in charge of them for the night, which was cool!!

imageAnd that’s a wrap! I can’t wait to pick back up on regularly scheduled blogging next week!

Also, today is the last day to enter my Larabar giveaway, so if you haven’t, get on it!

The Funniest Search Terms That Brought You To Running on Peanut Butter

Life can provide unexpected moments. Like when last week I decided to take a look at the search terms that brought people to my blog in 2015, and I immediately knew that I had to honor these awesomely hilarious and disturbing search terms. I sat at my computer for a good 15 minutes laughing out loud over some of these. What I learned are that there are some really weird people out there, but I’m also highly disturbed that some of their search terms brought them here. I’ve left those out, but gah!

Let’s jump into my favorite search terms for this little blog of mine, starting with the most important one. {Search terms are in bold, with my response below it.}

The Untold Story Behind My Favorite Picture From 2015

A picture says a thousand words. Today’s post is going to be a little different. I have an untold story for you all that took place this past October. It just so happens that this story revolves around my favorite picture from 2015.

Back in October, the girls and I headed to the White Mountains to watch our beautiful college roommate, Lauren get married to the man of her dreams. While Michelle and I were sitting in our pew in the barnyard church, I turned around to see if the ceremony was about to begin.

As I was looking behind me, I noticed this incredibly handsome man sitting several pews back. I turned around and instantly started giggling, informing Michelle of the super cute guy behind us. I couldn’t stop laughing like a little girl. He was SO CUTE and damn did he have style. A man in a suit that fits… will you marry me?

I believe when I turned to Michelle, I told her that I was going to make him mine. Ha!

Once we made it to the reception barn and onto the dance floor, I noticed that the church hunk was the life of the dance floor. A handsome man who dresses to the nines and can dance… help me Lord!

I was still on a mission, and ended up asking Lauren if he was single. Yes, with the one condition that he’s arrogant. At that, I backed off and forgot about him, but I still wanted what I shouldn’t have. About a quarter of the way into the night, we were facing each other, a few feet apart, when Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean” came on.

We started dancing to it together, in a choreographed manner, and after that song, he looked at me and said, “I’m not done with you just yet.”

I died.

We danced to every song after that, fast and slow, for hours. He twirled me around, held onto me, and called me Princess Allie.

When the night ended, we stood in the barn, talking. He looked at me and said, “I’m not leaving without one.” He grabbed my face with both of his hands and kissed me, in front of everyone.

As we walked outside and were standing on the first snowfall of the year, he kissed me again, and 20 minutes later when Michelle and I made it back to our rooms, I had a text from him making sure that I made it back okay.

He made me feel beautiful, desirable, and like a Princess, just as he said. Dancing with him from songs ranging from Taylor Swift to Journey, he made me feel like a little girl; alive, young and carefree.

It was one of my favorite memories from 2015, and easily my favorite picture from 2015.

When I first looked at the picture, I couldn’t stop noticing how scrunched up my nose was, immediately pointing out a flaw and thinking that my face ruined what could have been a good picture. As I looked at the picture more, I realized, “look at how your nose and face is scrunched up in pure happiness.”

When I look at this picture, all I see is happiness, and I’m immediately taken back to this night in the White Mountains, on a chilly October evening.

Recently I had someone make me feel undesirable and really awful about myself, and instead of staying in the negative, within minutes I escaped to the memory of this night. I took one look at the picture, and I immediately shook off those awful feelings I had running through my mind.

Let this be a reminder that while our smile might make our cheeks look full, at least you have a reason to be smiling. Or for me, that scrunched up nose is scrunched up because I’M HAPPY.

While I never spoke to him again, how lucky am I that I get to go through the rest of my life with this wonderful memory? Every person that we come in contact with has a role in our life, and this guy, well he made me realize that I can get what I want, that I am desirable, to stay young, to let my hair down every once in a while, and sing as loudly as I can with all of my heart and not to worry about how I look.

imageBut seriously Allie, the next time that the man of your dreams is with you near a photographer, strike a pose!

My Current Leg Workout & Blog Housekeeping

Happy 1 week until Christmas! How is that even possible? I feel like I was just sunbathing in the Bahamas with my girls, and now it’s almost time for the jolly man to come shooting down our chimneys! Today is going to be a little bit of a house-keeping post. First off, the winners of the Dove & Degree giveaway are below. I have reached out to all of you ladies, so if you’ve yet to respond with your mailing address, go check your inbox!

You also have one last day to enter the Big Slice giveaway. It ends tonight at 11:59 pm, and there are very easy ways to enter, so go for it if you haven’t done so already!

BigSlice-GiveawayI have one last giveaway of the holiday season coming next week in conjunction with my partnership with Larabar as an ambassador, so be ready for that one!

peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-larabarCan I just say that out of the 1,800 pictures taken at the Santa Shuffle several weekends back, the photographers failed to get me in a single shot. I’m not sure if I should be happy or annoyed by this. Happy that I avoided a possibly embarrassing image, but also annoyed that I didn’t have an embarrassingly awkward picture taken of me as a Santa.

If you’re looking for a burning butt workout for that big butt of yours, this is the one that I’m currently doing. I picked some of my favorite leg exercises and created this little number. How do I know that it works? Well, when driving immediately following this, I always feel like my legs will give out and I will crash my car into the pole, and secondly, my butt is always on fire throughout the day, with my thighs feeling the love 2 days following. All signs of a good leg workout.

leg-day-workoutAnd that is all this girl wrote for the week!

What’s your favorite leg exercise?

Give me something good that I can add to my leg day workout!!!

What are your weekend plans?
