Long time no talk! Can’t really say that I’ve missed blogging the past 10 days. I’ve had great intentions of coming on here to do an update post, but really, once the work day ends, I really have had no desire to open my laptop and blog. I’m literally too busy binge watching Cedar Cove and drooling over Jack Griffith.
Anyways, I don’t have too too much to share, but here’s a quick update post on what’s been going on!
On the 2nd I had a doctor’s appointment with a Naturopathic doctor per the request of my primary care doctor. If you recall, I’ve been having issues with rapid weight gain, and since my primary found nothing wrong with my thyroid, she sent me over to a Naturopath doctor for deeper testing. My appointment was 90 minutes long and we discussed anything and everything. By the time I left, I was given two boxes of testing to do at home. One was an adrenal stress test in which I would spit into 5 different tubes throughout the day to test my cortisol levels. The other test was a poop test. Ha! That one is testing how well I digest food, and the amounts of probiotics I have? It was far from glamorous, but she thinks that because I have always had issues with bloating, that my digestion could be an issue. She’s also testing my thryoid on a much deeper, sub-clinical level, along with my hormones. I go back next Thursday for my follow-up appointment where she will go over all of my test results and provide me with what she thinks is the best course of action. She mentioned that I might even need to get shots… something about needing some type of hormone that women produce when pregnant? I don’t know. That part was a blur, but let’s hope it doesn’t come down to that!
On the workout front, they have been really great! I’ve been back in the gym the past 2 or 3 weeks now and have found my groove once again. Body wise I am feeling so much better than I was a month ago, and I’ve been doing a mix of weights and running.
On the eating front, I am SO HAPPY! I finally feel in control of my eating, and I don’t think I’ve overeaten in a solid 3 or so weeks. I stop when I’m full, and eat when I’m hungry. It feels incredibly nice to be at a healthy place with eating. I honestly didn’t think it would happen so quickly, but I’m not complaining at all!
I wasn’t a member of the clean plate club for this dinner, and had enough chicken to save for the next day.
On Monday I took a much-needed day off from work because it was mid-90s! I slept in, did a HIIT workout, and then spent the rest of the day reading and playing basketball outside.
Oh, and after my workout and before a day of sun, I hoped on a video conference because I joined a 6 week challenge, thanks in part to seeing Amy document her first round of the challenge, and now her 2nd round. I’m so excited for this! It involves intermittent fasting and carb cycling, and so far, it’s been going great. Before I signed up, I did about a week of intermittent fasting just to see if it was something that I would enjoy, and crazily enough, I friggen LOVE it!! I was still hemming and hawing about it, but finally bit the bullet and signed up. This week is our prep week, but come Monday, the 6 weeks officially begin. I already love how I’m feeling and the extra freedom it gives me with food, so I can’t wait to see how I feel once the challenge officially begins! Oh, and if you’re wondering why I have the ratchet looking GNC coupon taped to my laptop, it’s because I was a sweaty mess from my workout and NEEDED to block the camera and not have my actual face show on the video chat haha.
Have you ever tried intermittent fasting?
What’s been the high and low of your week so far?
