Weekend Recap: Family & Outlet Shopping

Hi friends, and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend, full of fun and sun… I know I sure did!

After work on Friday, I headed over to my parent’s house, as my brother and sister-in-law were in town from Nashville, so we enjoyed a bbq and game night! There’s always so much laughing that goes on when the 5 of us are together, and I remember one point where we were all laughing so hard that I actually thought I was going to throw up from laughing pains.

imageAfter a late Friday night and the inability to sleep in, I headed to the gym to get a workout in. Sprints for 40 minutes followed by an at-home attempt at barre. The goal is to do a few of these exercises several times a week!

Eating, cleaning, and laundry followed, along with spending a few more hours with Ryan and Chelsey. Later that afternoon it was party time!

imageLucas had his dinosaur themed 3rd birthday party, and it was a blast. Lindze did an awesome job at planning and creating all the fun little stations for the little tykes to enjoy.

The bubble sword, or whatever kids call it these days, was the hit of the evening!image

Once the family friends left the party, it was time for a little fire with the Lewis family!

My family is the best, hands down. It just doesn’t get any better than spending time with them. We stayed around the fire until maybe 9ish, before a group of us headed out for the night. Perfect way to spend my Saturday!

imageAnd on Sunday, the first half of my morning was spent working out, grocery shopping, and meal prepping, before heading to the Merrimack Outlets.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to go on a shopping spree in an effort to build awareness on the athletic stores and the new trend of active wear becoming more fashionable. The Outlets gave me 2 big bags full of gifts from several of the stores at the outlets, along with a $100 Visa gift card to spend on athletic wear. Sweet!

My first stop was Nike, in which I found items that I loved, but I wanted to check out Under Armour, since I’ve been digging their clothing a lot lately.image

I was really digging these shorts, but I hate wearing shorts, so for now, I passed.

imageAnd I REALLY wanted these leggings, but they didn’t have my size. I made sure to leave a little bit of money on the gift card so that I could get these once they are back in stock!

imageBut I did fall in love with the waistband on these, so I snagged myself a pair, but in all black, due to sizing.

imageThe great thing about the outlets is that you can get some amazing deals, so I snagged a workout top and bottoms for only $33. And the reason I went back to the outlets, well I grabbed the one sized tank top. Doh!

imageA free shirt from Reebok, in an adorable light blue, along with other little gifts. The gear bombs from Puma are a lifesaver because I sweat, and when I sweat, I smell. Not sure how the candle fits in, but since I’m obsessed with candles, I won’t complain! Also was an unpictured protein bar from GNC, which I demolished while shopping.

imageOrange Theory even threw in a book, shirt, bottle, and a 7 day class pass! Hopefully one of my girls will take a class or two with me!

Anyways, back to Sunday! After a productive morning, the rest of my day was spent being lazy and just relaxing for once. It was a wonderful weekend, but now I have Nashville on my mind, and the countdown is on!

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Do you love the new look of athletic gear for women?

*The Merrimack Outlets provided me with a $100 gift card. All opinions are my own.

This Week’s Happy’s #1

Hey guys, yup, I failed with the 3 posts this week. While I had good intentions of popping in on Wednesday, life happened, and that’s the way it is! My life is about to start getting 10x busier, so I will blog when life gives me a bit of free time. I love this blog and want to keep it running for as long as possible, but if I can only give you several posts a week, that’s just how it’ll have to be for a bit. I can’t wait until I can talk more about life’s big plans, but I will share with you the moment I am able to!

That being said, I’ve had a wonderful week, and here are just a few of the things that have made me smile this week!

New Lipstick

I don’t know about you ladies, but new make-up just puts me in a good mood. I decided to put on my sassy pants over the weekend and buy lipstick, something that I have never done, in a bright color that I never would have worn, and I’m loving it! It makes me feel happy and all divalicious!

Big Bowls of Peanut Butter & Maple Syrup Oatmeal

I eat two of these bowls a day. Breakfast and either lunch or a snack. It makes my stomach happy, and the slow-digesting carbs and fat do a wonderful job of keeping me full throughout the day!

Brinkley’s 1st Birthday

My beautiful Goddaughter turned 1 on Wednesday. How is that even possible?! This little peanut has brought such happiness into my life, and I am incredibly blessed to be her Godmother. Can’t wait to celebrate this lovebug on Saturday!

imageHaving Strong Willpower

I’ve never been one to grab the leftover snacks in our work kitchen, but on Wednesday, those donuts looked SO good! Don’t even get me started on the frosting on the cake. It would have been so easy to lift the plastic lid and steal a spoonful of frosting, especially since I had an excessive amount of carbs and fat macros left, but, I want this cut that I’m on bad enough. I walked in and out of this kitchen about 4 times, and I managed to not even take one little chip. YES to motivation and drive!

imageNew Running Shoes – Mizuno Wave Catalyst

Ohhhh there is just nothing better than a new pair of shoes. It’s like my obsession with the smell of a new book. The Mizuno Wave Catalyst is a brand new shoe hitting their product line. It’s perfect for those looking for a responsive, lightweight, yet supportive run. You get to feel fast without sacrificing the support that you might need. Coming in at a light 8 oz (W) & (9.4 oz (M). and a 10mm drop, these shoes are simply fabulous! While I did receive these shoes in exchange for 3 social shares, I do have to say that these are in the top 3 of my favorite running shoes that I’ve ever run in.

The Best Day at Runner’s Alley & Why Your Running Store Is Important

I love running. I love shopping. I know the importance of shopping local. And I know the importance of shopping for running shoes at your local specialty running store.

For me, that’s Runner’s Alley, with locations in Concord / Manchester / Portsmouth {New Hampshire}.

runners-alleyWith all of the years that I’ve been running, the beginning years I never, ever shopped at Runner’s Alley.

Because I was always very tight with my money and wanted to buy shoes at a discount. The prices for a quality running shoe can be steep, and that annoyed me.

As I’ve gotten older, I now know the importance of paying for quality; whether it be quality food or quality running shoes.

I first went into Runner’s Alley years ago because Sean, a guy that I befriended at my then gym, was working or interning there. I went in, had him analyze my form, and tried on several shoes he brought out to me. After over an hour, I left empty-handed, because 1) I didn’t like the looks of the shoes, and 2) because of the price.

Why, Allie, why?

Since then, I’ve been back, and I’ve bought multiple pairs of shoes from Runner’s Alley. Sean told me to look past the looks or color of the shoes, and to choose a pair that not only fits and feels good, but that is also appropriate for how you run. <– he told me that years ago, and I was too stubborn to listen.

I was desperately in need of a new running shoe, so I reached out to Sean to see if he’d be interested in working with me on getting a shoe and turning it into a blog post.

Sean is now the manager of the Concord, NH location, so he knows his stuff. If you’re local to Concord, go and ask for Sean, because I’m biased.

When I got to Runner’s Alley, Sean had me take my shoes and socks off, and we got to chatting.

Runners-AlleyBefore he even watched me run, he first watched me walk barefoot and had me stand on one foot, along with doing one-foot half squats.

He picked up on my problem child of a right foot, and took out little skeletor to explain to me how the foot works when it runs. He touched my feet (eww!), and tested the flexibility of my big toes, where he found that while my left big toe is flexible, my right big toe isn’t.

Runners-AlleyRunner’s Alley, and your local to you running store won’t just sell you shoes. They teach you how to fix issues, injuries, and all of the other stuff that falls in between the cracks.

And then it was on to running barefoot! Let your hair whip back and forth girl!

Runners-AlleySean gave me a Foot Rubz to do a bit of mobility on to help loosen up my right foot, which is something that I need to continue to do going forward, and while I did that, he went in the back to grab 3 pairs of shoes that he thought would work great for me.

Sean, you better pick the right shoe for me! This must be the type of pressure men feel when they have to pick out the perfect engagement ring.

Runners-AlleySaucony, Newton, and Nike, the 3 brands delivered to my feet. I first tried the Saucony Kinvara 6’s on, and took those for a little jog down their indoor track.

Runners-AlleyNext up, the Newton Kismet. I’ve always been extremely intrigued by Newton running shoes, so I was thrilled when I saw one of the boxes say Newton across it. I felt like I had moon shoes on when I first stood in them, but after running in them, they actually felt really awesome! I liked these!Runners-AlleyThe last shoe I tried on was a Nike Flyknit, which, meh. Okay, I actually loved how lightweight they felt on, but in my heart I immediately knew that these were 3rd place.

I was torn between the Kinvara 6 and the Kismet, so Sean had me wear one of each, and go for a run.

So which did I choose? The Saucony Kinvara 6!

Runners-Alley-Saucony-Kinvara6The Newton’s were a very close 2nd, but the Kinvaras felt very natural, so I went with my gut.

Runners-Alley-Saucony-Kinvara6I didn’t let price, color, or appearance sway my decision thinking, and not once did I bring any of those up, as I would have done in the past.

If you want to be healthy, you need to make healthy decisions. If you want to run, you need to make smart decisions. Whether you run competitively or just for fun, the #1 decision that you can possibly make is to go to your local running store to have them analyze your form.

Sure, you might have to shell out a little more money on a running shoe than if you were to find a beautiful sale online, but if you have an expert put you in the right shoe, there’s a good chance that you won’t be paying doctor bills for injuries that you might run yourself into if you’re running in an ill-fitting shoe.

Not only does Runner’s Alley provide a wonderful shoe service, but they also sell a variety of running gear, fuel, and reading material, along with offering running and training groups. 2016 is the year that I’m finally going to join one of their running groups, so please hold me accountable to my word!

runners-alleyRunner’s Alley is a wonderful local company made up of a group of individuals who not only love running, but that want you to love it and become a better runner as well.

Thank you Sean for fitting me in a great shoe, and thank you Jeremiah for being our photographer for the afternoon!

I’d love to stay and chat longer, but I…

Disclaimer: While this post was not sponsored by Runner’s Alley, Sean did gift me with a complimentary Runner’s Alley winter slouchy hat, along with surprising me with a small discount on my purchase.

How You Like Dem’ {Big Slice} Apples? ++ Giveaway

Do you like apples? I love apples.

Well. My tastebuds LOVE apples, my stomach and digestive tract, don’t. It stinks. It’s like loving that delicious man who always makes you cry. Why, why, why?

Since I was a child, I have luckily also loved applesauce. My best friend was Evan when I was growing up in Vermont, and his parents raised Evan and his sister Claire in a very healthy manner. It’s the lifestyle that I hope to one day adopt for my future family. Evan’s Mom knew healthy balance, and it was something that I came to know as well, as I enjoyed probably thousands of breakfasts, lunches and dinners at their house.

One of her sides, which I have never been able to get out of my mind, is her homemade applesauce. Oh it was just heavenly! Ever since tasting her homemade applesauce, I have had a love affair with applesauce, so when I was selected to be on Big Slice’s campaign for their on-the-go pouches of slowly cooked slices of apples,  I got way too excited.

I love warmed-up apples and I love applesauce, so a combination of the two, in decadent and fun flavors, ahhh!!!

16 flavors, 3 product lines. Big Slice are made of wholesome ingredients, made with USA apples ONLY, non-GMO product verified, are gluten-free, and include whole pieces of fruit.

7 different flavor pouches make up their Pure Line, in which each recipe is made with pure fruit and spices gently blended together.

{Orange Ginger, Apricot, Blueberry Pomegranate, Natural, Lemon Berry, Chai & Cherry Vanilla}.

Big-Slice-ApplesThe Cherry Vanilla was amazing, and little cherries were a welcomed surprise in the mix!

Their Fit Line is comprised of four different varieties promoting energy, power, balance, and beauty. {Banana Mango & Hemp Seed, Peach Green Tea & Aloe, Pineapple Passion Fruit & Fiber, and Raspberry Hibiscus & Green Coffee Extract}.

And lastly, their Luxe Line are made for indulging in those rich flavors that won’t leave you feeling guilty. {Peach Bellini, Cinnamon Candy, Boysenberry Chocolate, Caramel, and Cinnamon French Toast}.

Big-Slice-ApplesThese are great before a workout, as a mid-morning snack, after dinner when you just want a little bit of something to cure your sweet tooth, or really any dang time that you please!

Now here’s where Big Slice is sharing the love. One lucky Running on Peanut Butter reader will win a gift pack that includes 12 assorted Big Slice pouches as seen above, a tumbler, and a spork (for digging in with). I Sweat More Than The Average Human & Dove/Degree Giveaway

During the summer months when I lived at home, I would spend my weekend mornings running in the neighborhood. Hot days meant that I would sweat X10 more than normal. I sweat 5x more than the normal human being (thanks Dad), so really, I would be sweating 15x more than normal during my summer runs.

When I would enter the house after my runs, my Dad would always remind me that I smell. That or I would enter the kitchen and if I walked by someone, I would tell them to hold their breath.

I sweat. I sweat a lot. And when I sweat, I smell. The only saving grace aside from a shower is deodorant. I used to buy Dove’s specialty deodorant because it was the only deodorant that could combat my stench. Now, I rotate between Degree for women and for men. So when I was asked to participate in Dove & Degree’s #TryDry campaign, I was all in, especially because they even offered TEN Running on Peanut Butter readers to win the same gift pack that I received! Ho ho ho!

Unilever sent me 5 dry spray antiperspirants, which are their new product that goes on instantly dry, provides 48-hour of odor and wetness protection and are each formulated with unique product benefits {see below}.

Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant: Goes on instantly dry and provides 48 hour odor and wetness protection with all the care of Dove, leaving underarms soft, smooth and residue free.

Dove Men+Care Dry Spray: Has a non-irritant formula to be tough on sweat, not on skin. Provides 48 hour odor and wetness protection along with Dove Men+Care’s signature ¼ moisturizing cream.

Degree Women Dry Spray Antiperspirant: Includes MOTIONSENSE® Technology which responds directly to your body movement to release extra protection the more you move.

Degree Men Dry Spray Antiperspirant: Includes MOTIONSENSE® Technology which responds directly to your body movement to release extra protection the more you move.

AXE Dry Spray Antiperspirant: Designed to help guys feel confidently fresh by offering a high voltage blend of premium fragrance notes.

I carried around the Degree Women spray in my purse constantly. I would give myself a spray before the gym, after my shower, and sometimes before bed, but I usually still smelled approachable, so it wasn’t necessary.

I love men’s deodorant, or more so how good men smell, so from time to time I do buy men’s deodorant. I gave these deodorants to my brother, except for the Dove spray because the smell was just so fresh and lovely that I wanted it for myself! Is that greedy?

Deodorant is so important to me because I never know just when I will bump into my future husband. Will it be at the gym? At Target? At the library? I have no idea where or when, so I always need to smell good so that I don’t scare him away.

As I mentioned above, 10 lucky readers will win the above pack, all you have to do to enter is leave a comment below telling anything about your sweat situation. Do you sweat a lot? Do you barely sweat? What scent do you like the best? Men or women’s deodorant? You have until Sunday 11:59 pm EST to enter, and I will announce the winners next week!

Overcoming a Fitness Speed Bump #StayFitDontQuit

Life is full of ups and downs, victories and struggles, lessons won and lessons learned. I like to think that lessons won and lessons learned are one and the same.

I recently learned a lesson, which to me, I know see as a lesson won. 4 or so weeks ago I started a new workout program that was tough from the get go. I was extremely excited because I started having those mornings where I would wake up sore, and I thought to myself that my previous workouts must have gotten stale if that was the first time I woke up feeling sore in quite some time.

With each workout and each week, I felt stronger, but I also felt weaker. I had an insane hunger to lift heavier weights and just kick major butt with my workouts. Well, while I accomplished that, I also beat my body down to a pulp. I was falling asleep before 7:30 every night, and on weekends I would literally live on my couch because I was too drained to go out.

I thought that it was all just a result of my workouts, but this past weekend my Mom told me that I’m too young to be feeling so exhausted. I thought to myself that maybe I am working too hard in the gym. I’m taking my rest days, but my workouts might just be too much for my body. The only change I was seeing in the scale was skyrocketing up, not down. I took this past weekend to really evaluate my eating and fitness mindset. I was eating healthy foods, getting plenty of sleep, taking rest days, but not seeing the results I wanted.

The simple fact, that I believe to be true, is that I wasn’t allowing my body to recover, that my 1-2 rest days weren’t enough, and lactic acid was building up.

I could have easily given up. There were days where I wanted to, but I didn’t let myself. There will always be moments in your life where times get tough and you don’t see how there can possibly be a positive outcome. Maybe it’s in a relationship, a work issue, or fitness related. What matters is that you don’t quit and don’t give up. You might have to alter your mindset and come up with a new plan of attack, but if you believe that there is a new route that you can take that will be better for you, take it, but be patient.

Last month Get the Label contacted me about being a part of their #GetFitDontQuit campaign, and honestly, it could not have come at a better time. In all of this, I have been reminded to not give up and to work towards finding my “fit,” even if it takes a few trial and errors. Get the Label sent me the softest and most comfortable Nike funnel neck hoodie ever, which I have been living in all fall, so every day while I’m wearing it, it’s a constant reminder not to quit.

In order to get my body back on track for making the progress I know it’s capable of, I’m taking this week as a deload week. Monday I took a complete rest day, and by Tuesday my body felt a lot better. I am making a strong effort not to have a lifting workout this entire week, so Tuesday I simply jogged for 30 minutes, and this morning again, I jogged for 30 minutes and did 2 back machines at a super low weight.

Once I start doing a full workout of lifting, I will be starting at lower weights and not overdoing it. I was talking to my friend at work yesterday about how my workouts were killing me and she reminded me about how I didn’t like how my body responded to heavy weights with CrossFit, and how my body started changing once I lifted moderate weights. I got so caught up in seeing my strength improve and wanting to lift more, that I forgot about how my body responds to certain elements.

So while I have my own motivation, I am thankful that I have a Mom who will remind me that I shouldn’t be tired (haha), and friends who will offer advice and listen to me talk. With my friends and family, they make it possible for me to re-position my goals to get more fit and not to quit.

This post is sponsored by Get the Label. I was provided a Nike sweatshirt in exchange for a blog post geared towards their #GetFitDontQuit campaign. All fitness struggles are my own. 🙂

My Thoughts on the Combat Crunch Birthday Cake Protein Bar

If you’re like me, you love finding the perfect protein bar for afternoon snacks or when you’re on the road all day. I’ve recently become a huge fan of Muscle Pharm Combat Crunch bars, so when I heard that they recently released a Birthday Cake flavor, I was all over it. While I was out running errands one Saturday, I was running low on energy, so I popped into the GNC in the mall and grabbed the new flavor. All opinions of this flavor are my own, and in now way were they sponsored by Muscle Pharm.

I will say that all of the Combat Crunch flavors are good, but there are a few that are mind-blowing amazing. I’m obsessed with birthday cake flavored anything, so I had extremely high hopes for this bar. I was extremely excited when I saw the sprinkles that coated the top of the bar.

Combat bars have a good chew to them, which is a quality that I love. It always takes me awhile to eat a chewy bar, and for me that’s key!Combat-Crunch-Birthday-Cake

The width of the bar did not disappoint, and I loved that the sprinkles even were on the sides of the bar!

The taste was good. It wasn’t overly sweet which is a good quality, but if I was blindfolded and someone asked me what flavor it was, I would probably just say vanilla… but I guess that’s just a fancy term for birthday cake, right?

It’s quite possible that I have unreal expectations on what a birthday cake protein bar should taste like, but I was a little bit disappointed with this one. I also just really love peanut butter or cookie favored protein bars. Don’t get me wrong, the bar wasn’t bad at all, just probably not one that I would need to buy. I would give their Cinnamon Twist bar a 10/10, and when compared to that flavor, this is probably a 8/10.

Give this bar a shot if you like vanilla or birthday cake type of bars because there is a great chance that you would love this! Even though the flavor did not wow me, I still loved every bite of it!

Have you tried this protein bar yet?

What is your favorite flavor Combat Crunch bar?

All opinions are my own, and this post is not sponsored by Muscle Pharm, but out of my sheer curiosity.

I Found THE PERFECT Protein Cookie {MyProtein}

While I was in Dallas in July for work, MyProtein reached out to me asking if I would be interested in their products. I love when new-to-me companies email me because it allows me to learn about a new brand, maybe fall in love with their products, and broaden my options. What immediately blew me away, was that MyProtein offers a full range of products, including instant oats, peanut butter (smooth & chunky), liquid flavorings, protein powder, creatine, protein cookies, protein bars, casein, amino acids, and more.

Their prices are extremely low, and the taste is phenomenal!

MyProtein sent me a big box of goodies, including smooth peanut butter, instant oats, banana flavoring, White Chocolate Almond protein cookies, cookies & cream protein powder, and a shaker bottle.

The protein was surprisingly good! Most brands that I go into not knowing much about, I always get worried that their protein will be awful, but the cookies & cream tasted how it was supposed to and didn’t leave any nasty after taste. Fabulous!

The peanut butter doesn’t taste any different from one of the better options at your grocery store, but one thing that I liked was just how big the jar is. Obviously I would notice and love that. 🙂myprotein-peanut-butter

I used the peanut butter to top my oatmeal with, and what I loved most was that it instantly made a soupy mess in my bowl, which to me, screams perfection!myprotein

I put these banana flavored drops in my oatmeal and it not only tasted like I was eating fresh banana oatmeal, but it thickened my oats up, which made it even better than normal!

Solid macros! 20 carbs, 10 fat, 37 protein. High on the protein BUT I love the fat and carb content!

The cookie has a decent size to it, and I immediately could tell that it was going to be great. I mean, just look at all of those chips!!myprotein-white-chocolate-almond-protein-cookie

The cookie is amazing. It’s chewy, thick, FULL of white chocolate chips, and tastes like a real cookie. I didn’t want this cookie to end, and I 100% felt like I was eating an unhealthy cookie. Winner!myprotein-white-chocolate-almond-protein-cookie

In the 3 years that I have been blogging, I have to say that this is one of my favorite shipments that I’ve received to share with you guys on my blog. I was left happy by all of the products I received, and would recommend this company to you in a heartbeat. The cookies and liquid flavoring absolutely stand out from the rest, and while the peanut butter is phenomenal, these are 2 products that are not only hard to find at a good price, but that are also hard to make taste good. MyProtein does just that.

Once I get back from the Bahamas I fully plan on ordering more cookies, as I brought my last 4 on vacation with me. I plan on trying all of the flavors, but the White Chocolate Almond…. to die for!

What is one protein product/treat that you wish companies could nail on the head and make it taste like the unhealthy version?

CAKE. COOKIES. Any treat!

What flavoring if any, would you want to add to your oatmeal?

*MyProtein sent me the above products for free in exchange for a product review. All opinions are 100% my own.

How I Prepare For a Big Workout ft. Tiux

It’s no secret that over the past few months my workouts have increased in intensity. I’m programming my workouts to be more taxing, both physically and psychologically. When you push yourself, completing a set or workout is not only about physical strength, but it’s about mental strength as well.

There are so many important factors when it comes to being able to perform well each workout. Some workouts just won’t be winners, but learning from mistakes is key! When it comes to heading into each workout on point, there are various factors that all play a key role. Some, like nutrition help you recover that day and allow you to head into the next day feeling good & strong and not weighed down.

For me, my biggest factor in getting a quality workout in is quality sleep. That means being in bed around 8, and asleep by 9 at the latest. Sometimes that means you have to stop talking to the cute new guy you’re chatting with earlier than you want to, and if that’s your situation, just know that you can always talk to him/her the next day, and if he gives you crap for it, well then he is a loser and you can go to bed knowing that you dodged a bullet.

Another important factor is nutrition. Make sure that you’re making healthy choices when it comes to eating, especially your 3 main meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner. I will typically have protein loaded oatmeal for breakfast, a tuna wrap or chicken & veggies for lunch, and a healthy stir-fry for dinner. This allows me to enjoy healthy but delicious snacks so that I don’t feel deprived. This might be a banana with peanut butter, a protein bar, or anything else! I track my macros, and by doing my best to hit my assigned macros each day, this better allows me to fuel my workouts and work towards my goals.

imageFueling during and after your workout is huge! Every workout I drink BCAAs, and I find that this helps me push harder each rep and each set. I love Cellucor’s Alpha Aminos & Xtend BCAA’s.

Tastes like summer!

Mobility/stretching! We can never forget this little guy. Something I all too often workout until I literally need to leave for work, not leaving 10-15 minutes to stretch and foam roll after workouts. Not good Allie. When I do my mobility work, I love my foam roller, lacrosse ball, and Stick!

And a little secret weapon that works wonders, whether you’re a runner or putting yourself through a strenuous leg workout… compression socks! Tiux sent me a pair of their badass black and neon green socks to try out, and dang these are comfy & helpful! I will sleep in these the night before a big workout/run/race, or after when my legs need a bit of extra love. These socks even tell you which foot to put each one on… something that I failed to do the first time, ha!

I’ve tried several brands of compression socks now, and Tiux’s impressed me the most. 200% fact.  The first thing that I noticed when I pulled these on were just how soft they were. I could live in these all day long; they are THAT comfy!

And in case you need some adorable motivation to run & go!

Tiux-compression-socksRemember that all of this factors all work together to help you get the best out of your workout. Don’t sabotage a killer workout by not eating nutritious meals, something that I sometimes fail at, or not stretching. You don’t want to burn out or get injured. And also, protein shakes post workout help too! 🙂

How do you prepare for a big workout?

What are your recovery tips?

*Tiux sent me a pair of compression socks in exchange of a review. All opinions are my own, and yes, these socks are THAT awesome. 🙂

My Thoughts on the FitCrunch Cookies & Cream Protein Bar

Baked soft cookie center. 6 layer cookie protein bar. Those are some of the first words that you see on the label of the FitCrunch Cookies & Cream Protein Bar. Last week I highlighted the Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookie, and this week it’s the FitCrunch protein bar. This post was sponsored out of my own curiosity of this increasingly popular protein bar hitting Instagram. I bought this bar with my own money, and was originally going to save it for a company outing since it’s a good meal replacement bar sitting in at 380 calories, but when I couldn’t go, I decided to still enjoy it for my afternoon snack. So no, FitCrunch did not sponsor this post, butttttt I mean, if they were to send me different flavors to review, I totally would. 😛Fit-Crunch-Protein-BarMacros:

  • 27 grams of carbs
  • 16 grams of fat
  • 30 grams of protein

Fit-Crunch-Protein-BarOne of the first things that I noticed was that this bar is thick. I cannot stand thin protein bars. Give me volume, crunch, quantity… I want it all. So this was the 1st positive of this bar.

Fit-Crunch-Protein-BarWhen you bite into it, you immediately taste a creamy type of Oreo filling almost. Then you hit the bottom, which is a crispy cookie.

Fit-Crunch-Protein-BarAs you chew, the sensations flip flop between creamy and crunchy.

Fit-Crunch-Protein-BarHere’s a view of it from a different angle, and you can really see how the white is creamy and the bottom is a crunchy cookie. There’s also a different filling above the main creamy layer.

Fit-Crunch-Protein-BarThat thick creamy center was my absolute favorite part of it all, and with the bar being ginormous, in both length and width, this was like the best party of the year that never ended!

Fit-Crunch-Protein-BarSome bites even have mini chocolate chips in them as well, which makes for an even better bite.

Fit-Crunch-Protein-BarSo yes, I would absolutely recommend this protein bar to you guys! I feel confident saying that this was actually the best bar that I have ever tried. 100% the truth right there. I wish that the fat was so high, but if you’re not worried about fat or have a lot of fat in your macros, go for it!

Have you tried the FitCrunch bars before?

What’s your favorite protein bar and flavor?

What bar should I taste test next?
