This or That Survey!

Hey guys! I saw this good ol’ survey pop up on several blogs, so I figured while I’m in the Bahamas, this would be a fun week to do the survey. Play along at the end!

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Hands down chocolate. Chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate frosting, straight-up chocolate. Chocolate milk. Chocolate protein powder. This girl loves chocolate anything!

Innie or Outtie?

Innie! I have a really normal belly-button and I feel weird saying this, but I actually love mine haha.

Hot, Hot Summer or Snowy Winter?

Hot, hot summer. I hate everything about winter, so I would take hot and even humid over cold, dreary and snow.

Save or Spend?

Oh gosh, I actually go through phases where I am extremely anal about saving my money, and then phases where I crave shopping sprees. I think I’m a healthy mix right now and will only buy items that I need or deserve. I justified my new Nikes that I bought several weeks ago. I actually wear them every day at the gym and even when I’m out in comfy clothes. A few new items for the Bahamas was also justified, but I try to be smart about buying new tops for every day wear.

Elliptical or Treadmill?

Treadmill! I can last maybe 5 minutes tops on an elliptical. I love my HIIT workouts on the treadmill. They are my favorite!

Banana or Apple?

Banana! I absolutely love apples, but I can’t eat them raw because they hurt my stomach and make me look 7 months pregnant.

Morning or Night?

Morning! I love waking up early to get my workout in, and this is my favorite part of my day. I’m usually asleep around 8:30 or by 9 at the latest, so I really don’t have too much of a “night.”

Love or Money?

Love. Always.

Lip Balm or Lipstick?

Chapstick and lip gloss. Those are my two best friends.

Butt or Boobs?

I like my boobs more than my butt. Is that what this is asking me?

Alone or with others?

I actually LOVE being by myself. I crave alone time probably half of the week, and the other half I love spending with my girls or family. I think that’s why I love living by myself as well, because I can go home after work and not deal with anyone.

Coffee or Tea?

Tea. I’m not a fan of coffee at all, and have never had more than 2 sips of coffee at a time. I really like Teavana and David’s Tea, and will probably be adding that to my Christmas list this year!

Straight or Curly?

Toss up. I love when my hair has a bit of a curl to it, but most of the time I’m too lazy to do it. On guys, I love curly/surfer hair!

Three Squares or Graze All Day?

Graze all day. I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks every day, mostly because I love to eat, but I could not do just 3 big meals a day. Home girl loves knowing I get to eat yummy foods every few hours.

Right-handed or left-handed?

Beach or Mountains?

I’m a beach babe at heart. I grew up on the ocean, so it’s natural for me to crave the sand and salt. My end goal is to own a beach house one day!

Mac or PC?

I own a Mac for personal use and I absolutely hate it. When I have a ton of extra spending money, I will totally get a PC to replace my Mac, but right now, it’s just not a priority.

Shy or Outgoing?

A mix of both. I’m shy if I’m not in a situation where I feel comfortable, but if I’m with close friends, I will be the most outgoing person you will meet… unless I’m tired!

Answer any of the above!

Alone or with others?

3 big meals or 6 mini meals?

A to Z Survey

I first saw this post on Julie’s blog last week and thought this would be perfect to post today since I just got home from Dallas last night. The trip was really great but I am honestly just excited to get back into my own routine! Last night I spent my first evening in my apartment and did a little bit of meal prep to get through today and Friday at work. It was so nice being back in my gym today, and while I did workout in Dallas, hotel gyms just aren’t the same!

A to Z Survey

A – Age: 27

B – Biggest Fear: Settling in life with someone that makes me feel basic and not like a pink starburst.

C – Current Time: 4:28 pm. I’m writing this quickly while in between work events.

D – Drink You Had Last: Water. I’ve really been into flavored water lately, but I was too into it, so my 4-day break from it while traveling in Dallas was good to get me off my addiction.

E – Easiest Person To Talk To: Best friend Lindsay. We talk from about 6 am until we go to bed, via email, text, snapchat, Instagram, etc every single day. We never run out of things to talk about and going through the same life experiences at the same time makes it even more of a fabulous friendship.

F – Favorite Song: “Fight Song.” I love female empowerment!

G – Grossest Memory: Trying to get the pit of an avocado out but instead I ended up at the hospital to get stitches in my palm. At least my doctor looked like McDreamy!

H – Hometown: Hooksett, NH! I now live the next town over, but my end goal is to buy a house in Hooksett.

I – In Love With: My couch. It is SO comfy! The chaise lounge was the #1 requirement when buying a couch, and I plan on laying on this part every night after work reading and watching my shows on Hulu Plus.

J – Jealous Of: People who can afford cable! I’m rocking just internet and will rely on Hulu Plus to watch my shows… but so sad I can’t binge watch HGTV… unless it’s on Hulu Plus? Please tell me Property Brothers is on there???

K – Kindest Person You Know: All of my friends. I can’t choose just one, and there’s a reason that they are all my friends!

L – Longest Relationship: On and off for 2ish years? It led to this little blog and we are now friendly, so it all worked out for the best!

M – Middle Name: Kendra. My girlfriends think that I should change my name to Kendra.

N – Number of Siblings: One. Ryan, he’s 2 ½ years older than me and works for Hershey Chocolate. Yum!

O – One Wish: To just stay happy and healthy.

P – Person You Spoke To On The Phone Last: Lindsay. All day every day.

Q – Question You’re Always Asked: What are macros? Also, I use a coach to calculate my macros. I get asked that a lot, and I can never figure out how to calculate mine to be correct, so I let Ashley do it for me. 🙂

R – Reason To Smile: I’m home from Dallas and settled in my new apartment! 🙂

S – Song You Last Sang: I don’t even know!

T – Time You Woke Up: 5 am for a quick HIIT session at the hotel gym.

U – Underwear Color: Beige. So boring!

V – Vacation Destination: Bahamas this September with my girls!

W – Worst Habit: Being short with people when I’m either very hungry or very tired. I’m sorry people!

X – X-Rays You’ve Had: I believe 2?

Y – Your Favorite Food: PEANUT BUTTER J And watermelon!

Dog vs Bunny Ears & Would You Rather

Hello friends! I’m popping in with a few highlights from yesterday followed up with 4 “would you rather” questions that I grabbed from Shape magazine! Before we have fun with questions, here are a few highlights from my Monday.

I ended up taking a rest day on Monday morning since I had 3 days of hard workouts, and the sleep felt so good! I was more than ready to get back to the gym this morning though! Yesterday flew by, as I had 2 girls from our marketing agency stop by and we ended up visiting 2 of my members at their stores. We had 2 photoshoots at both of the stores, with Sandy the dog being the main star. We were gone from 11:45-3:10, so it was such an easy day! I wish all days were this easy.

Is she not the cutest little bunny dog?!

Sandy vs the bunny ears were a real struggle though. Sandy received about an entire bags worth of treats, so she was treated like a queen for her hard work. image

Would You Rather…

Set mini goals or go after one big goal?

I will probably get in trouble for my answer since it’s not really choosing one, but I prefer to set one overall goal and then create mini goals that have me working towards accomplishing the “overall goal”. Almost like a video game where you have to beat different levels in order to beat the game.

I talked about this with my macro coach last week how my overall goal is for me to run a half marathon in the fall and to start the training (in the summer) in the best shape I can be. I want to make sure that my body is healthy and absolutely ready to be able to handle 1/2 marathon training. My mini goals are where my coach comes in. Whenever I plateau with weight loss or toning, she will change my macros around. It might just be 4 less grams of carbs and 4 more grams of fat to get my body guessing again, but I look at the numbers she gives me as mini goals. She gives me a new set of numbers and I think, okay great, let me hit my numbers each day and allow my body to drop weight and tone up, and once I plateau, that goal has been met. When I lose weight with my current set of macros, that to me is succeeding.

Tone with body weight or use equipment?

Equipment. I’m really loving dumbbells and the cable machine right now, but lunges, push-ups and squats are always favorites as well.

Work out alone or sweat with a friend?

Alone, unless it’s a trail run. I like being able to go at my own pace and do the strength exercises at my own speed. I think this mindset comes from me being a pretty independent person to begin with, although I miss the group mentality with CrossFit!

Relax muscles with a massage or hot bath?

Hot bath! As much as I love massages, there is nothing more relaxing than a hot bath. I have been toying with the idea of buying a condo, and on the priority list is a big bathtub to relax and read in. 🙂

Your turn! Pick some of the would you rathers and answer them!

19 Things

I’m nosy. I like knowing things. About people, places, events. I need to know everything. It’s a blessing and a curse. If I hear my parents whispering downstairs, you can bet that I will immediately stop doing what I’m doing to listen. I stop moving, I stop breathing, and I just listen. And if I can’t hear clearly enough, I will yell downstairs and ask what they are talking about. I’m sure they love it.

So when I saw Kelsey of Ramblings of Change post a “52 Things” a few weeks ago, I immediately bookmarked it so that I could do my own version. Since 19 is my favorite number, I’m going with that. So here are 19 random things that you might know, and some that you might not know!

  1. My sister-in-law and I are 1 year and 1 day apart. If it’s too early for math, she is 366 days older than I am.
  2. I could listen to Christmas music and watch Christmas movies all year
  3. JIF Whips is my favorite & I can’t resist it. I can resist regular pb. And yes I know, chemicals. Whatever.
  4. I need total silence and total darkness in order to fall asleep.
  5. Eating in my bed is one of my favorite things to do. <– FattyIMG_2416
  6. I am trying to fall back in love with CrossFit, but I’m struggling to because I am on a running spree.
  7. I dislocated my shoulder when I was a kid trying to get my winter coat off by flailing my arms uncontrollably.
  8. Keith Urban’s guitarist and his wife are coming to my house for the evening to play music in March as part of their “home tour.” <– I am geeking out. Most of you will get an invite.
  9. I hate talking on the phone, but maybe that’s because I never truly learned how to.throwback
  10.  I always wanted to be on Fear Factor and said that I would eat the cockroaches, but please, I run away from tiny spiders.
  11. The way to my heart is with Cookies & Cream Quest Bars.
  12.  I’m not attracted to blondes because their hair clashes with mine.
  13.  When I was brainstorming for my first ever job, I based it off of what colors I would have to wear while on shift. Target won.
  14.  I don’t like dating younger, and rarely will I date someone right around my age. I prefer young 30s.
  15. I always wanted to name a boy “Hepler,” but I was told “no” recently. It’s Rob Lowe’s middle name, and while I love him, I think the name is so unique!
  16. When I was in college, I was a “bestie” (friend + groupie) with Dashboard Confessional.Dashboard Collage
  17. I briefly lived with my friend Brian in California. I met him in line for a Dashboard Confessional show, and he introduced me to his group of friends who were super close with the band, which is how #16 came about.cali-brian
  18. My biggest goal in life is to be a stay-at-home-mom. A good friend of mine and my cousin are both SAHM, and the manner in which being a SAHM has affected their lives is truly amazing and something that I would love to experience.
  19. The truth behind this photo. We were all in a fight because I insisted on eating at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and no one else wanted to. I ate so much of my ginormous burger and loaded nachos that I threw up in the bush right before this picture. I never said that I was classy.Jimmy-Buffets-Margaritaville

Running in 2014

It’s crazy to think that 2014 was equally split between 2 sports. Not really simultaneously, but one at a time. I was in love with CrossFit, but once my 14 weeks of 10k training started, I practically ditched CrossFit for running. Right now, I’m still going strong with my intense love of running, but I am attempting to bring it from 90% running/10% CrossFit, to about 65% running/35% CrossFit. Anywho, I have seen this super short & cute little running survey floating around recapping your favorite races or race memories, so I thought I’d give it a stab!

Best race experience?

Running my first 10k with Jaime in the fall. I had always said that I would never run more than a 5k, so the fact that I dedicated 14 weeks to training and exceeded my goal, made it such an amazing race. That and the fact that my parents and Lindsay were there, with my other best friend Allie, there in spirit, made it memorable.

Best run?

My best run was during my training for the 10k. It was the first time I had run 5.5 miles, and it had just been so perfect. I didn’t have to stop until mile 4 something, and then it was only because I hit rolling hills and was getting tired. It’s runs like that that completely amaze you, which make it all worth it.

rainy run

Best new piece of gear?

My Nathan fuel belt. I love this thing. I usually keep one bottle with water, and the other with NUUN. I can easily fit chapstick, gum and my iPod in the pouch… and when I had the iPhone 4s, that fit in as well! It fits comfortably around my waist, and doesn’t jostle around during a run, which is a needed requirement!

Nathan-running-fuel -belt

Best piece of running advice you received?

Not every run will be bad. Run for you. Race yourself, not others. Pace yourself. When you fart, run faster. Take it one step at a time.

Most inspirational runner?

My best friend Lindsay. She never ever liked running, and didn’t start getting into fitness until probably the past 18 months. She was so dedicated to her health, and transformed into a strong gypsy. Out of nowhere, she ran a 10k, and then immediately decided to tackle a half marathon. She is my inspiration in everything I do in life.

I am so excited to see what running in 2015 will look like. So far, my 2.5 mile run on the 1st of January sucked so badly!

What’s your favorite race distance?

Best piece of running advice?

Late-Fall Currents

As I post this I’m halfway to Florida to start a 5 1/2 day vacation. Hello sun, bikinis, cousin time, reading, and relaxation. I thought today would be a fun day to bring the “Current” survey back, as it’s been awhile since I last posted it.

Current book: A Nantucket Christmas. I loveeeee Christmas books and am already in the Christmas spirit. Make it a Christmas chick-flick book and I AM IN HEAVEN.

Current music: I’m really obsessed with Keith Urban’s newest CD “Fuse.” I’ve had it on repeat since it came out I think in September. I fly home Wednesday afternoon and am seeing him in concert Thursday night. I actually had to move my vacation around because of the show! The things I do for Keith and his freakin’ adorable guitarist.

Current guilty pleasure: CrossFit. This might not seem like a guilty pleasure to some, but I’m so addicted. I went Monday-Thursday this week and already have separation anxiety from my peeps.

I totally scheduled my flight home around the CrossFit schedule. I land at 11:25, and I’m hoping it’s on time, because with the airport so close to the box, I can get there for the 12:30 class, and then head into work to catch up on emails.

Current drink: Water. It doesn’t get too exciting on the Whole 30 drink wise, but water is always my go-to drink. I will get crazy this vacation and have lemon water. Party animal!

Current food: I’m really loving my sweet potato hash and mixed nuts with apple slices. I look forward to eating those the most every day.

Current show: Castle. Still. I’m obsessed.

Current wish list: I really want a pair of Lululemon workout pants! Mom, Christmas list? Just don’t look at the price and close your eyes when you order. 😉

Current triumphs: That I have survived 10 full days and on my 11th day of the Whole 30. I really don’t understand how easy it has been for me. It’s been easy to say no to all processed foods, and peanut butter, but my biggest craving is a goddamn breath mint! I can handle the no gum chewing, but let me pop a damn mint!

Current celebrity crush: See above. Brian Nutter. A man in a white v-neck. Ugh. Killing me. Hashtag drollest. Hashtag fanmedown. Hashtag fathermyfivebabies.

Current needs: Well, if I’m flying, it’s probably to pee, since I go every 10 minutes. Otherwise, I have a need to relax all week and soak in the sun. I also really need to start on my Christmas list because my Mom is stressing me out asking every few days for it. I guess I’ll work on it this vacation!

Current indulgence: Well, there’s no big indulgences over here food wise since I’m on the Whole 30, but I suppose buying new socks and underwear for vacation is my latest indulgence. That’s kind of weak. Let’s just say my vacation IS my indulgence.

Current Slang: Beautimous. I think this is from Honey Boo Boo. Is that what the show is called? My girl Amber kept saying it on her Bach Party and wedding night. It’s annoying but I love it.

Current Blessing: That I can afford to take a vacation and get to spend quality time with my lovely cousin. Love my family.

Current outfit: Workout pants, trainers, tank and hoodie. My favorite airplane outfit. I travel in comfort, not style. A lady I work with said that she would never be caught traveling in workout shoes/clothes. Well then, you can guess who I didn’t tell my travel outfit plans to! 😉

Current excitement: This vacation and meeting a special someone while I’m here. I really hope it happens and I won’t talk about it further because I always jinx things, but if it happens, I’ll gush!

Current mood: Excited and more than ready to relax. I cannot wait to step away from work for the week, but I do plan on monitoring my work email so I’m not overwhelmed when I return to the office. And by monitor, I mean delete all unnecessary emails so that I don’t return to the office to 800 emails. Yes, that will happen. I was out sick last week for one day and returned to 164 emails.

Andddd enough work talk, I’m ready to kick-start this vacation. I will be blogging while I’m away. Hey, it is MY vacation, and I’d love to do blog maintenance while I have all of the free time. Nikki and I plan on sleeping in, working out, and relaxing on the beach all day. We aren’t spending a lot of cash while we are here, but we do have a few nature parks we want to visit and we’ll go out to eat a few nights, but the amusement parks aren’t on our list of things to do.

What should I do while in Florida?!

Current Currents. Mostly Nathan Fillion

Before I start blabbing about my current list of currents, I want to tell you all why my roomie is like a boyfriend who never puts out.

I got home from Crossfit last night and had just been jamming out to Katy Perry’s “Roar,” on the radio. I was singing it when I got home, and also when I was in the shower. Roomie yelled in and asked if I wanted music to go along with my singing. I answered “yes please,” and I got nothing in return, except for realizing after my shower that there was a Facebook status about my singing. Like a boyfriend, roomie offered music and refused to give me any. Aka a boyfriend who doesn’t put out. Fighting.

And now, since I was too tired to post about Crossfit, here is a little beebop of my current life, because who says fun survey questionnaires are only reserved for Fridays?

Current Book: Unfortunately, my work email is my current book. That and Bloglovin, since by the time I have a free moment, I have 1,029 posts to read.

Current Music: I’m on a Taylor Swift kick… and also Aaron Carter. He’s playing a few towns away from me on Saturday and I was blasting his music from his first CD to my parents and Ry last weekend. We were all getting into it and it was embarrassing how I still knew 87% of the words to his songs.

Current Guilty Pleasure: Castle. I apparently go through spurts of obsessing over TV shows. I blame it on the Castle marathon that was on over Labor Day weekend. That and Nathan Fillion.

Did you really think my obsession wouldn’t be related to a sexy stud muffin? Lezbereal.

Current Nail Color:

At the moment I have only a clear coat on. My nails always chip from my workouts, so the  beginning and end of the week usually has a coral color on it, and midweek when it chips, it’s clear (usually Wednesday and Thursday). By this evening it will be a girly color.

Current Drink:

Water. All day every day. I also have a protein shake every day.

Current Food:

Turkey Spaghetti Squash. Oh my gosh, my favorite meal at the moment. I eat it either for lunch or dinner every day. Please ignore this crappy quality of a picture.

Current Favorite Show: Castle (See above). And obviously How I Met Your Mother. I have until the 19th to buy and watch all of HIMYM Season 8 so that I can watch Season 9 live. Roomie says I can’t do it because I’m so busy. I informed her of the time I watched S3 & S4 in 3 days. Challenge accepted.

Current Needs: To sleep in until my body says it’s time to wake up. Sadly, this won’t be happening, at least not Saturday, since I have Crossfit at 8 am. Here’s to hoping that Sunday is a lazy morning for me!

Current Triumphs: Completing class 1 of 4 of the Crossfit Elements course! I’ll recap it tomorrow since I got home late last night from it and was too busy singing ROAR.

Current Bane of Existence: That Walmart didn’t have HIMYM S8 in stock yesterday. Rude.

Current Celebrity Crush: Nathan Fillion. This blog post should just be called Nathan Fillion is my life. Oh my boothang, those blue eyes and fluffy hair! Hyperventilating ova here.

Current Indulgence: Sunbutter. I am obsessed with this and have barely touched peanut butter over the last week and a half. I wish I was cool and could say fro-yo was my indulgence.

Current Blessing: Life and my happiness.

Current Slang: Boothang. I am calling everyone that, mainly men. I should stop calling the creepy guys my boothang. I might have 43 boyfriends and not even know it!

Current Outfit: A maroonish maxi dress. I cannot come to terms with summer casual being over at work, so I’m still avoiding this whole “wear nice pants” thing. Pantless Thursday it is!

Current Excitement: Seeing my long-lost best friend this Saturday! We are going to the Seafood Festival up at the beach. Weeee! Also, booking tickets tonight with my cuzzo for our Fall vacation. Bikinis, sun and fun here we come!

Current Mood: Tired and sore. Is it nap time yet?

Current Link: No link, how about a picture. An awesome picture that roomie #2 posted on my wall last night. I have come to terms that this is my life and I am 345% okay with this.

I want to hear from you. I don’t care about any of the above questions, except one. Who is your current celebrity crush?!

Fitness Survey

This fitness survey has been making its rounds through the blog world, and since I had a busy night yesterday at Bikram Yoga with Linds, I figured a survey would be a great fill in for the typical post. So, here we go!

1. What did you eat for breakfast?

Orange creamsicle protein shake post gym, then 3 egg white scramble and pb oatmeal (with 1 egg white mixed in), an hour later.

This is my go-to breakfast and I’m freakin’ addicted to it.

2. How much water do you drink a day?

A lot. Maybe 100+ oz, at least. I’m always in the bathroom. My new firm actually has a double cooler fridge that stores Poland Springs water bottles that we’re allowed to take for free. I probably go through 1 an hour, along with what I drink at the gym, before/after work.

3. What is your current favorite workout?

Running & shoulder day, but most recently, the aerial workout I just took at Go Ninja on Sunday.

4. How many calories do you eat a day?

I count macros and not calories, but usually it’s around 1,500-1,600.

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Pb smeared on a banana.

Chobani with peanut buttah.

Peanut butter on toast.

Do you notice a trend here?! 😉

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

Ground turkey (seasoned this week with chili lime seasoning, 1/3 cup brown rice, and broccoli or brussles.

7. What is your favorite body part to strength train?

Shoulders & arms!

8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

9. What are your “bad” food cravings?

Cheeseburgers & fries at The Farm.

Fro-yo. Endless fro-yo.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Yeaup! Multi, probiotic, glucosamine, and fish oil.

11. How often do you eat out?

Not that often. Maybe once a week, if that. I’ve been hitting up the dating scene lately, so it’s usually once a week, but I’m trying to get it to once every 2 weeks.

12. Do you eat fast food?

Nope. I’m anti-that. If I’m in a pinch, maybe I would. If anything, I love the veggie subs from Subway, or eggwhite flatbread sandwiches from Dunkin’s.

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

My parents, easily. Shout-out!

14. Do you have a gym membership?

Gold’s Gym, representin’!

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

I’m usually asleep between 9 and 10 pm, and up at 5 am, so, anywhere between 7 and 8. I get cranky when I don’t get sleep, so it’s important that I’m Grandma status Sunday -Thursday.

16. Do you have a “cheat” day?

You betchya! I have 1 high carb day a week, and I plan it around my weekend. If I have plans to either go out for dinner, drinks, or fro-yo, I’ll plan it for that day.

17. Do you drink alcohol?

Occasionally, yes. Mark got me back into drinking more this past Winter, and ever since then, I live at The Farm. I’m trying to cut back, and have recently since starting with my coach. I limit it to my high carb day, and will only have 2-3 if I go out that night.

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

I run alone, by choice, but I like taking Body Pump with Jen Coworker and my cousin Nikki. I currently take Bikram Yoga with Lindsay. If I lift, it’s alone, again by choice.

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

I have made so many new friends through blogging, and not only have they given me great new friendships, but they also push me to be my best and try new things.

20. What was the last healthy thing you did?

Took Bikram Yoga last night with Lindsay. I also ate grilled chicken instead of chocolate for dinner. That was a big victory.

Here’s my question to you. If you’re a runner, do you prefer to run alone or with someone?

If you don’t run, do you like working out with a friend?
