Day In The Life//Friday

Hi friends, happy Monday! How was your weekend? What did you do? What kind of ice cream did you eat? What Pokemon did you catch? If you can answer that last question, please don’t. I’m thanking you in advance.

While my weekend was mostly spent packing for my move (just across town | NH is home), I thought it’d be fun to share my Friday with you, since it was a bit out of the norm of a typical Friday.

There were so many wonderful parts to my day, starting with finally being back in my gym after 3 days away. It felt like a lot longer than that, but seeing familiar faces sure was nice!

After my workout, it was the typical day of work, but instead of working until 5, our boss let us leave at 3, since we worked hard in Dallas. Yay!

First stop was visiting this little furball. Why must you be so cute? I could kiss his little face all day long. My smoosh!


And then it was on to the library to stock up on a book or two for our beach vacation next week. I arrived with my “must-read” list.


I have a really hard time saying “no” to books at the library, so naturally I left with 5 lengthy books. I do this to myself every single time.imageAt 3:45, just as I was leaving the library, my friend Sarah, the lovely and hilarious face behind Everyday Sarah Jane, texted me asking what I was doing. Teacher friends who have the summer off are the best. I headed over to her house for an hour of girl talk on her deck. Oh how I love that girl!  imageAnd then it was time for date night, which I had been looking forward to all week. I was given a dozen of the most beautiful red roses that I have ever seen, and a jar of peanut butter. That’s how you woo a girl. The date was a lot of fun, and I’m definitely glad that I said yes to the date.imageI’m kind of digging how the roses look in the Lily Pulitzer tumbler. My Dad offered me a vase just last weekend and I said no, simply because I never receive flowers; great timing on my denial, but I think I might start buying myself flowers every few weeks once I’m settled in my new place.

This weekend was a nice reminder to stop and smell the roses every now and again, to kick back with a book in the sun, and to spend even a quick hour with a friend catching up in person rather than via text.

Let’s Catch Up & Weekend Recap

This weekend felt like fall. It was cold and rainy. The only good thing about chilly weather is that it makes for the perfect sleeping weather. My apartment is the exception to that, so no matter what, it’s always a sauna, and the AC looks like it was made in 2015, yet it works as if it was produced in 1919. I can’t sleep when I’m hot, and since the AC is in my living room and not my bedroom, that means I’ve been sleeping on my couch, almost every night.

So, this is what that equation looks like:

Hot apartment + wonky AC + sleeping on the couch = little sleep =  no motivation to blog.

2 weeks ago I was all, “Hiiiiiii, I’m back to blogging,” and then the heat hit and I was all like “I’m just going to lay here after work and watch TV.”

So let’s catch up with recent photos and probably a few stories.

I recently went down to Brighton, which is a part of Boston, to spend the day and evening with Nicole. We started off by heading to a park in Watertown, where we ate and laid out talking about life, health, dating, and pretty much everything, because girls jump from one topic to another in record speed.


After eating dinner at her apartment, Nicole and I headed to Malden to take the 4th of July themed paint class! Look at the gorgeous view!


Allie Picasso! It’s currently adorning my parent’s basement, because even basements need art.  It was a much needed quality day with Nicole, and I cannot wait to see her again later this month hopefully!imageLast weekend my parents and I went to our typical Keith Urban show together, which was amazing as always. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone because my 3rd favorite artist, Brett Eldredge was a main opener for him. This picture isn’t the best quality, but I more so love the fact that I captured him smelling the flower on the screen.

imageOn Wednesday night Lindsay and I met up at Head’s Pond for a 3 mile walk. We had so much to talk about, and I had to fill her in on several of my most recent dates. I feel like I have way too many good dating stories, which I’m not so sure is a good thing! We both felt that the different things we talked about felt really good for both of our souls. It’s nice to have several friends where you can just verbally barf your emotions, thoughts, and anxieties to.

Anxiety is a word that I find a lot of people are afraid to say, like if you admit to getting anxiety over certain situations that it makes you look weak or different. We are all different and weird, that’s true, but I personally feel that if there’s nothing in your life that doesn’t cause a little bit of anxiety to bubble up, then well, you’re lucky, but it’s also rare.

imageI’ve been obsessing over bowls of oats, but more importantly, bowls of thick protein shakes. So thick and cold that it reminds me of ice cream. On a hot summer evening, this sounds way more enjoyable than standing over my oven.image But when I do stand over my oven, it’s to make this meal. I’ve been making it for lunches, and some dinners. I try to eat my veggies and lean proteins early on in the day, that way, if I get home from work and would prefer a bowl of oats or a protein shake for dinner, that I at least know that I got a good dose of my micronutrients earlier in the day.


And on to this weekend. I had a date Friday night, and was then up early for a workout with Ashley. No matter what, we always try to hit the gym in the morning post-date so that we can give each other an in-person, in-depth recap. After hitting chest and HIIT, it was off to Addy’s baptism. So happy for her! And then, a much needed pedi-date with my Mom!


Sunday looked a lot like this. I had to pack for a work trip to Dallas, our beach vacation, and then moving. I don’t need to start packing for the beach until next week, but since I was starting to pack for my move, it required me to sort clothing. Rough life I tell ya!


And it ended in the most relaxing way possible; cozied up in sweats & reading. imageWhat was the best part of your weekend?

Learning How To Blog Again & Let Me Update You On My Life

What is this blog thing, and how do I publish a post? It’s been about a month and a half since I last logged into this sweet child of mine, and to be honest, I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever about taking a step back to simply live my life.

A lot has changed since then, and at the same time, not a lot has changed. I’ve done a lot of living, consisting of traveling, dating, spending time with family, and having plenty of girl time.

After receiving several comments about if I stopped blogging for good, and having my dear friend Sarah practically twist my arm at the gym about blogging, I finally felt that the time was right to make my return.

So why the blog comeback? Well, about 4 months ago I had made a decision to pursue something that would require about 2-3 years of dedication and extreme focus to complete, and while it was something that I wanted to do, ultimately, I decided that in the next few years, marriage and starting a family were something that I also wanted, and weighing the two, I found that living a fulfilling life and getting out and meeting people was more important. So my plate is free of an unbearable workload, and since making that decision, I have been living my life to the fullest.

imageNow, I’m nowhere near this marriage thing and I’m pretty single, but I’ve been dating a lot, and it’s been a lot of fun! Staying out late on a work night eating and throwing back beers (hello rebel!), going to ball games, playing mini golf, staying up into the middle of the night just talking… it’s been fabulous!


I’ve been living my life for me, and it’s amazing how once you find out who you truly are, don’t settle in life/love/happiness, that you are finally able to start living life to the fullest. I’ve got that going for me, and life is just so good.

So what have I been up to besides dating? Traveling!

At the end of May, I traveled to Nashville to visit Ryan and Chelsey (my brother and SIL, for those not in the know), for about 4 ½ days.

We swam. Why is Nashville so disgustingly humid?!imageWe antiqued.

And while Nashville is cool, I didn’t fall in love with it like I was hoping to. Just further proof that my home and heart is in New England.


I also just got back from a trip to Iowa, where I almost mounted a pig.


And I hugged an ear of corn.


I celebrated the birth of my best friend and gym partner, Ashley, with her family, who treat me as their own. I love them!


I enjoyed a wonderful Father’s Day with my parents.


And quality time with Lindze, Mike, Lucas, & Brinkley.


And this weekend, I celebrated my cousin Nikki’s bachelorette in Ogunquit, ME.

Sarah told me that I would know when I would be ready to start blogging again, and I am. I was excited simply typing this post up, and I cannot wait to settle into a realistic blogging routine.

Weekend Recap: Family & Outlet Shopping

Hi friends, and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend, full of fun and sun… I know I sure did!

After work on Friday, I headed over to my parent’s house, as my brother and sister-in-law were in town from Nashville, so we enjoyed a bbq and game night! There’s always so much laughing that goes on when the 5 of us are together, and I remember one point where we were all laughing so hard that I actually thought I was going to throw up from laughing pains.

imageAfter a late Friday night and the inability to sleep in, I headed to the gym to get a workout in. Sprints for 40 minutes followed by an at-home attempt at barre. The goal is to do a few of these exercises several times a week!


Eating, cleaning, and laundry followed, along with spending a few more hours with Ryan and Chelsey. Later that afternoon it was party time!

imageLucas had his dinosaur themed 3rd birthday party, and it was a blast. Lindze did an awesome job at planning and creating all the fun little stations for the little tykes to enjoy.


The bubble sword, or whatever kids call it these days, was the hit of the evening!image

Once the family friends left the party, it was time for a little fire with the Lewis family!


My family is the best, hands down. It just doesn’t get any better than spending time with them. We stayed around the fire until maybe 9ish, before a group of us headed out for the night. Perfect way to spend my Saturday!

imageAnd on Sunday, the first half of my morning was spent working out, grocery shopping, and meal prepping, before heading to the Merrimack Outlets.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to go on a shopping spree in an effort to build awareness on the athletic stores and the new trend of active wear becoming more fashionable. The Outlets gave me 2 big bags full of gifts from several of the stores at the outlets, along with a $100 Visa gift card to spend on athletic wear. Sweet!


My first stop was Nike, in which I found items that I loved, but I wanted to check out Under Armour, since I’ve been digging their clothing a lot lately.image

I was really digging these shorts, but I hate wearing shorts, so for now, I passed.

imageAnd I REALLY wanted these leggings, but they didn’t have my size. I made sure to leave a little bit of money on the gift card so that I could get these once they are back in stock!

imageBut I did fall in love with the waistband on these, so I snagged myself a pair, but in all black, due to sizing.

imageThe great thing about the outlets is that you can get some amazing deals, so I snagged a workout top and bottoms for only $33. And the reason I went back to the outlets, well I grabbed the one sized tank top. Doh!

imageA free shirt from Reebok, in an adorable light blue, along with other little gifts. The gear bombs from Puma are a lifesaver because I sweat, and when I sweat, I smell. Not sure how the candle fits in, but since I’m obsessed with candles, I won’t complain! Also was an unpictured protein bar from GNC, which I demolished while shopping.

imageOrange Theory even threw in a book, shirt, bottle, and a 7 day class pass! Hopefully one of my girls will take a class or two with me!


Anyways, back to Sunday! After a productive morning, the rest of my day was spent being lazy and just relaxing for once. It was a wonderful weekend, but now I have Nashville on my mind, and the countdown is on!

A Lovely Weekend Recap

Oh friends, what a happy, happy weekend! I had everything I could have wanted this weekend. My best friend, family, killer workouts, and a donut. A DONUT.

My Friday night was pretty low key, which is honestly how I like it. I had about a solid month+ where I was going on several dates a week and you know what, it felt incredibly good to just have a Friday night to myself and not have to worry about getting dolled up. I was having fun dating, but when something doesn’t feel right and if you feel like saying yes to being someone’s boyfriend will have you settling, girls, do not say yes! Be like Megan Trainor and say “no!”

Anyways, back to my Friday night story. I ran errands and then enjoyed a bowl of peanut butter protein fluff with sprinkles, while watching YouTube videos.



Saturday morning started at 7 am with this babe of mine. After warming up, Ashley and I worked our back and shoulders for about an hour, before I hit the treadmill for a run. image

And then it was home to shower quickly, before picking up the bride-to-be for her bridal shower. I’m so excited for Nikki (my cousin) to get married this July!!image

While Nikki mingled with relatives and friends, we had a mini photoshoot, which always seems to happen when we are together.image

imageSaw this donut and I knew that I needed to make it mine. I ate about 1/3 of it and Linds took the rest. Thankful for a cousin who will eat the remainder that I don’t want ha!


After the shower, I headed back to my apartment for a few things, before heading over to my parents to spend time with them… aka, Mom and I watched several shows while Dad did lawn work.image

More grocery shopping afterwards so that I could make another bowl of protein fluff with all the works! For once I had self-control with the whipped cream. I’m growing up!imageSunday wasn’t too exciting. It included a run and leg workout, lots of “not for fun” reading.

A Weekend In Vermont for the NPC VT Championship

Happy Monday my friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. It was absolutely gorgeous in my area, or both areas that I was in this weekend, so if you had beautiful spring weather as well, I certainly hope you made the best of it!

My weekend started early Friday afternoon with a road trip to Burlington, VT with my girl Nicole. Our best friend Lindsay was competing in her first bikini competition, so we went to support her, and celebrate her birthday, which just so happened to be on Sunday. Perfect timing!

Our 2 1/2 drive to Vermont was full of girl talk. I’m almost positive we talked about dating for the full 2 1/2 hours. With a pit stop in the smallest, most hick-town ever.


We made it to Lindsay’s hotel, and almost immediately went down with her to the lobby to get registered and have her height taken. Her show was the NPC Vermont Championships, and for an NPC show, at least in the bikini division, they break you up into groups by height. image

After getting Lindsay into her group, we went back to the room and cleaned her feet. If you’ve ever had a spray tan before, you will know that your feet can get very dark from stepping on the tan that lands on the floor/towel. After that, we hung out, talked, and had the lights out by 9 pm!image

We woke up bright and early at 6 am. Lindsay got up to have her hair and make-up done, and I hit the hotel gym for a workout.

imageBombshell <3 This girl right here. She worked her butt off for about 18 weeks, and her determination and drive were just remarkable. Lindsay will be the first person to tell you that prep was not easy, but dang, she gave it her all, and the package she brought to the stage was amazing.


After dropping Lindsay off at the the hotel for the competitor meeting around 10:30, Nicole and I made a pit stop for fuel. 24 oz was necessary.image

We found the biggest Party City ever, where we bought balloons and streamers to decorate the room with. It was a congrats you competed and a pre-happy birthday theme. Nicole and I had way too much fun blowing up the balloons, and I’m pretty sure our workout of the day was laughing so hard and so much. It was really nice having all of that quality time with Nicole this weekend, especially since I don’t get to see her that often.


A pit stop for flowers, and then it was on to the show!image

Pre-judging went from about 12:30 until 2:40, and since finals didn’t start until 12, we took the girl out for a burger, per her coach’s orders.


With time to kill, we had our cards read and relaxed for a bit, before heading back to the school.image

Anddddd after 3 hours of finals, our girl placed fifth in her first ever NPC show!! Yeah girl,way to kill it! There she is on the far right.imageAnd finally, our long overdue dinner at 10 pm at the Outback!  We were all extremely hangry at this point, so the food tasted like a little slice of heaven.

imageOn Sunday, we were all pretty famished, so we hit up Ihop for a big breakfast. That stack of cupcake pancakes stole the show. The icing tasted just like funfetti, and we were all in heaven sharing that stack.

After breakfast, Nicole and I hit a local gift shop for a little bit of shopping. I spent a whopping 81 cents on a cow pencil haha. It’s the little things in life, I tell ya!image


I used to live right next to Burlington for 6 years growing up, so I felt right at home. This is the one place that I could wake up one morning and just decide to move to.


My Sunday afternoon ended with a bit of time in the sun reading, along with lots of meal prep.

Life Lately

Oops, I did it again. I now completely understand how bloggers pop in after a short hiatus and say that they didn’t mean to take such a long break. So here we go, I really didn’t mean to take 2 weeks off from blogging; it just happened. Life happened. I got busy with work. I got busy going on dates. I got busy living my life. I got busy getting strep throat. But here I am, thanks to my good friend Sarah, who is texting me as I type this, asking what the heck is going on with my blog.

This post will just be a little update on life in Allie’s world, and while I won’t be popping in tomorrow, I will be getting back into a normal routine with this blog starting next week. I know I’ve said that several times now, but I plan on putting this blog back into my daily schedule, and that’s that.

So here’s a photo dump of life lately!

First, workouts. I’ve been taking some of my runs outside, and by “some,” I mean one run, simply because the gym was closed.


It sucked, badly. It was just a lovely reminder that not every run is going to be good or feel good, but you have to accept that that’s just how life is. Some days work is good, some days it’s bad. Some days your workouts kick butt, and some days they make you cry. Some days your significant other is a sweetheart, and the other days they’re a flaming pile of crap. Thankfully I don’t have a significant other to deal with. image

Our gym received a complete overhaul, with new flooring and new equipment, and it’s making our workouts 10x better! It was a bit of a mess for the week that everything took place, but it was well worth it.image

I’m happy. Extremely, annoyingly happy. I went through the winter not recognizing my body, but I feel as if this spring has helped me get my mojo back!


As of Saturday, April 9th, I started a 12 week cut that I’m doing on my own. No coach. Just me, my motivation, support from my friends, and my blackboard that has every week blocked out. My meal prep game is on strong, which means that there is no jar of peanut butter in my apartment, and instead, it’s all portioned controlled out. image

During the next 12 weeks, I’ll be traveling to Burlington, VT (this weekend for my best friend’s fitness competition), Nashville (YAY),, going to Dallas (barf) for work in July, and lastly, going to our family’s beach house in Maine for the week. My 12 weeks will end just in time for this vacation, and I cannot wait to see my hard work pay off. My cut will be slow, and I made sure to start my macros out high, so that I could gradually cut them throughout the 12 weeks. Ideally, my ending macros will still be relatively high, and will become maintenance macros. image

We took the munchkins and pup for a walk, where we talked about dating, life, her running with the turkey vultures, and life. image

Life As Of Late

Long time no talk! I’m surprised I even remembered my username and password to log into this little blog of mine, ha! I honestly did not mean to take over a week off, but ya know what? I did. It was refreshing. And I don’t feel bad about it! Actually, I did feel bad when my Mom called me out over the weekend for not blogging. She said I was probably disappointing my fans, in the nicest way possible, of course. I don’t think I have fans. I just have people that are just as nosy as I am and like knowing every little thing about people’s lives, haha!

So let’s play a little bit of catch up.

Since we last talked, I ran a St. Patrick’s Day race. They made me Irish for the day, and made me Allie O’Lewis! My new last name must have brought me luck on race day. I’ve run this race 3 years in a row, each time getting a faster time. Well this year, I actually beat my time from 2015 by a minute and 8 seconds. Looks like all of my speed work is paying off!


I ran it with Ashley, my gym buddy and partner-in-crime. She blew last year’s time out of the water too, and I’m almost positive she ran it about 2 minutes faster! This girl is by my side at the gym pushing me harder and making me laugh 5-6 days of the week, and I wouldn’t change a thing. We are starting an accountability program as of today to work towards our goals, which just happen to be the same.millennium-running-st-patricks-day

I’ve been obsessed with all things veggie. I’ve added cauliflower crumbles to my oatmeal for volume and veggies, and am back at it with spaghetti squash!spaghetti-squash

Rice cakes with protein pudding has been my new favorite snack. I mix 8 grams of sugar-free dry pudding mix with about 20 grams of protein powder, with water, and top 1 or 2 rice cakes with it. Add a bit of sprinkles for crunch, and it’s a great snack! I’m also guilty of just dunking the rice cakes in peanut butter. Sometimes you just have to live your life.image

Speaking of living my life, that’s another reason I haven’t been blogging much. I’m living my life away from the computer and internet. I’m doing things that will better my life, I’m dating again, and it’s SO MUCH FUN! Oh, and on my birthday, I chopped my hair off! I am obsessed with it, and feel like there’s a whole new level of sass to me.image

This was my favorite Easter ever. I laughed so much. I also enjoyed quality time with all of my cousins. I feel as if some holidays I only get to truly talk in depth with 1-2 cousins, but not at Easter, and I think that’s why it’s my favorite holiday. I’m so blessed that my cousins are some of my closest friends and that we can talk about anything and everything together.image

Lindsay just started a Whole30 on Monday, and she is going to do so well! I’m kind of wanting to do another Whole30 again simply because she inspires me!


My goddaughter Brinkley continues to steal my heart every single day. image



Life is really great right now, and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier than I am right now. There’s something to be said about walking by faith and not by light. If you let go of the reigns that you’re trying to use to control your life, you’ll be a lot more happier and carefree. That is what I have done, and life seems to be wonderful.

I know that I’ve said that I’ll get back into a good blogging routine, but with spring here and more activities and time being spent outside, I truly plan on getting back into a good schedule, even if it’s only 2-3 posts a week. Sometimes you just need a break from blogging or any type of activity, and I feel as if the winter was a good time for me to do that! Have a great day! 🙂

Weekend Recap Via Pictures

Monday. Eww.

I’m really not thrilled that the weekend is over, but, this week brings new beginnings, and to that, I am incredibly excited and nervous. Since I don’t have too too much to share about my weekend, I decided that I would give my weekend recap in pictures of things that I purchased!

The end of last week left me feeling under the weather. Thanks to my coworker who was brought to urgent care on Friday for vomiting and passing out at work, I started my weekend feeling a bit crappy. On Friday night, since I felt like death had runneth over me, and was expecting a sick Saturday, I bought several sick staples at Hannafords. Well, more so the pretzels and ginger ale were sick related, and the rest were all cravings or staples.


Dinner, just because.


Since I am addicted to pineapple BCAAs, I stocked up on a new container of it.image

Along with a pb&j protein bar, which I actually bought on my lunch hour on Friday. This bar is SO good!!image

Since I woke up feeling “okay” on Saturday morning, I hit the gym with Ashley for a low-key workout. We did back/shoulders, and low-impact cardio. If I ran, I thought that I might get sick, so I avoided that, as much as I wanted to. I quickly made a shake, showered, and headed out to Brinkley’s 1st birthday party. While I didn’t buy anything this weekend for her, she’s just too cute not to add this picture.image

Later in the afternoon, I hit the road for a date. I actually really wanted to cancel my date because I felt exhausted and not the best, but after receiving two really sweet text messages, I just didn’t have it in me to cancel on the guy. So, I grabbed an energy drink, for the first time ever, and blasted my music for the drive. Either it was the drink or the company, but I had one of the best dates in years. I really just wanted a quick dinner and to be on my way, but before I knew it, 3 hours had passed by. An appetizer, dinner, and dessert later, and we were kicked out of the dining area and were asked to spend the rest of our time in the bar. I was left speechless for the first time ever on a date when this southern gentleman, with accent, told me during dinner that he was having a really great time with me. What? Thank you! I never know during a date if a guy is enjoying my company, so for him to come right out, left me completely speechless. And for the record, I am incredibly happy that I said yes to this date.image

Saturday night was a late one, and since I was incredibly exhausted, I opted out of an alarm and out of a Sunday workout. I slept until 8:30, worked from my couch until 11:30, and then headed out for gas and an afternoon of errands.

Weekend Recap in Numbers
