Sometimes I love when plans change and sometimes a change of plans makes me a grouch. Last night, I loved our change of plans.
Mark had gotten us tickets to the UNH v. Merrimack hockey game at the Verizon, since 1) he loves hockey and 2) he went to UNH about 78 years ago. Since the game was at 5, we had planned to grab dinner after the game and play pool after that. A busy but fun date night.
Well, after posting the above picture on Facebook and Instagram, I received a text from my best friend from high school, Jen. Her sister saw the picture I posted and told her we were at the game too. Jenny texted me, and it turns out that they were 3 sections away from us!
During the 2nd intermission Mark and I met up with Jen and her boyfriend, Tyler for several minutes. It only took me 2 years to meet Tyler, but I’m glad I finally did! And that’s when our plans changed. Jen and Tyler asked if we wanted to do drinks after the game, and since Jenny couldn’t go to our Annual Christmas Eve Eve dinner, and I hadn’t seen her since our last tennis match in the summer, I was really hoping Mark would be up for it.
Luckily, I have a pretty great guy because he was all for it. After the game the 4 of us walked across the street to JW Hills for a drink. Seriously. We planned on one drink and then we were gonna go grab dinner.
Well, Jen and I had such an awesome time catching up, and the boys quickly formed a bromance, that we didn’t leave the bar for 4 hours. By 7:30 we were at the bar, by 8 I was drunk off of 2 beers (hey, no dinner yet), and the boys were already about 4 rounds in.
Shenanigans broke out and the boys had Jenny and I in bouts of pain from the endless laughs they gave us.
I think we found our new going out friends. Tyler lives up in Maine, and they switch weekends visiting each other, so I’m really hoping that we keep up with our plan of grabbing drinks whenever Tyler is in town. Please Jen!!
We still hadn’t had dinner by 11:30, and by the looks of Mark falling asleep at the bar, I knew he needed a little food in him.
Mark raided his cabinets for food while I went straight for his birthday cake. I was a little heart-broken when I noticed all of the frosting was on the tin foil. Seriously, not good since I’m a frosting fan. I only ate bites with the frosting and literally scraped the frosting off of the foil.
3 beers and cake for dinner, now that’s a healthy dinner, but I honestly wouldn’t have changed a single thing about last night.
Mark fell asleep with his face in the couch, his upper body on the couch and his lower half kneeling on the ground. After struggling multiple times to get him to bed, I gave up, left him for dead, and sprawled out in bed.
I woke up feeling like death, not because of the beer and cake, but because of the upper body workout Heather put me through on Friday. I literally cannot move my arms and haven’t felt such a burn in my workout history. Ouch!
I enjoyed a bowl of strawberry yogurt with a lil’ PB2 on top, and now I’m just finishing up an episode of CSI:NY before I tackle my morning run.
As for the rest of my Sunday, I’m really not sure what’s planned, but I kind of like the unknown.
Anyone do anything fun on Saturday?!
