For some reason I always wind up in relationships where the dude I’m dating has a birthday within the first month. It never fails. The past 3 birthdays I’ve thrown have all been so completely different, mainly because all 3 guys have been so different.
Last night Mark (The Prospect) and I celebrated his birthday. Needless to say, without getting into details, it was different (which seems to be the most popular word in this post so far).
Mark chose a sushi dinner and the Monarchs (the LA Kings, AHL team) game for his birthday gift, and we headed over to grab sushi several blocks from his place, which is where part of our first date took place.
We ended up ordering the Love Boat for 2, which seriously could have fed an army! When it comes to sushi, give me California Rolls and I’m a happy camper.
I’ve never tried raw sushi, as it seriously freaks the shit outta me, so I’ve always just ordered the Cali Rolls.
Mark has been pushing me to try raw sushi, so with a boat load of raw in front of me, I tried several pieces. I tried the salmon, tuna, crab and that freaky looking elf ear in the above picture. It wasn’t bad, but I’m still sticking with my California Rolls. 😉
After finishing our meal, we made it to the Monarchs game at the end of the first intermission.
We actually ditched our seats and went down to the ice to sit with my coworker Jen and her husband Marc, since the seats next to them were open.
My favorite part of the night, and only request was to do Chuck-a-Puck. We bought 5 pucks for $6, and during the second intermission, everyone chucks their puck and tries to hit the bullseye to win the pot of money. Sadly, we lost, but it was still so much fun!
We had a really great night and I’m so glad that Jen was able to meet Mark. She gave me the “he’s a cutie pie” thumbs up, and hopefully tomorrow at work I’ll get her full thoughts on him!
Today has been quite the busy and productive day. After Mark headed out to his Sunday morning basketball game, I went out for a 3 mile crappy run and completed a full body workout that left me in a sweaty mess. I didn’t push myself as much as I could’ve, but it still felt great to lift some weights.
I fueled up with peanut butter banana and jam oatmeal and went overboard with the peanut butter. That’d be a whopping 4 TBSP of PB2, basically a 3 inch high dollup of PB2. It was SOOO good, and if you’re like me and love the creamy taste of peanut butter in every bite, then PB2 is the way to go, as you can get away with using more than you would with regular peanut butter.
With a full belly, I picked up Allie and Kris and we headed out to check out the 3rd house on our list. While we liked several aspects of it, Kris and I are still pulling for the adorable and charming cottage style house we looked at yesterday. We have another appointment tomorrow evening and have turned in our applications for the cottage, so hopefully we can start narrowing down!
After discussing our personal lists of pros and cons for each house, and agreeing that we should be on House Hunters, I dropped the girls off and ran 2 quick errands, one to exchange a shirt since it had a rip in it, and the other to spend my Barnes & Noble gift card that I received at our company holiday party.
I’m so excited to dig into both of these and find new workouts and meals, that I’m actually going to go read these while the Patriots game is on. Priorities people.
Hope everyone has had a fun and relaxing weekend. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m excited for a new week!
