Good morning! It’s hard to believe that I have one full day left here. I hate reality so much, that let’s relive Monday’s day of vacation events.
I woke up bright and early at 7 am, and set out for a 3 mile run. Running in the humidity really gets me, so the 3 miles were a complete struggle. After showering and eating, we headed out to Myakka River State Park. We arrived at 10:40, and with 35 minutes to kill before our air boat ride, we decided to explore the park a bit.
We walked through a beautiful display of trees before we saw a couple taking a picture with this tree. Nikki told me to climb it and sit in the tree, but when you’re terrified of heights (yes, even climbing 4 feet, ha!), you get really awkward.
At this point, I told Nikki to just take the damn picture. So that is my classy picture with the beautiful palm tree. This is what your life is like when you’re terrified of heights. I sent this picture to my Dad, who gave me the “scared of heights” gene, and he told me to “get down!” See, we have each other’s backs. 😉
A couple hundred feet later we made it out to the deck for this gorgeous view.
We then headed back to the main area to grab a seat on the air boat road to go hunt for some gators!
There were SO many gators, and it truly surprised me that so many people were out kayaking/canoeing in the open water. There was even a husband, pregnant wife, and their 1-year-old in a canoe. Helllllll no!
After the 1 hour boat ride, we grabbed a bite to eat before heading to the canopy trail.
You climb up this big structure, and then walk this wobbly and swaying bridge to get to the other side. You then climb 4-5 more flights for a view of the entire place. I was literally crapping my pants walking up. Nikki told me we were 76ish feet in the air. I refused to take my phone out the entire walk because I was so nervous.
We then headed home and cuddled under blankets on the couch and watched another Lifetime movie. We were so wiped out, and I think we both hit our wall. 2 beach days and working out in the heat will really get to ya!
Around 6, Nikki dropped me off on my hot date. Yes, I went on vacation and had a date, and yes, I felt like a little kid getting dropped off for the night. So who is this guy? Well, you all know Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers? It’s her mother-in-law’s boyfriends son. Back in October 2012, I saw a picture of him on one of her posts, and I totally made a comment saying that I would move to Florida for him.
A few days later, I received a comment on my blog from him. Turns out, Julie told Chris about what I said! We talked nonstop for a few months, and now we talk here and there, but always blow each other’s Facebook’s up. Yes, we are those people.
When I found out I’d be vacationing in Florida, I asked Chris if he was close to where I would be. Turns out, he was about 15 minutes away, which is why we finally decided to meet.
We went down to St. Armand’s Circle in Sarasota, and grabbed dinner at Columbia, where Chris made me laugh harder than I’ve laughed in a long time. I was so glad he didn’t turn out to be a dud, and had instant chemistry with him.
After dinner, we walked around the circle and popped into the boutiques that bordered the circle.
So much fun! Now, Nikki and I are off to the beach for one last day of sun, sand and bikinis. I heard it’s snowing back home. Wahhhhhh!!!
