Sarcasm. I’ve had some pretty amazing meals the past 2 days, and I really just wanted to pop in quickly to share them with you.
Yesterday I mentioned that I didn’t have an appetite at all. 3.75 miles into my 4.3 run yesterday I had to stop, get off the treadmill and just stand there. I thought I was going to puke. On my walk from the gym to work, I drank 10 oz of almond milk with 1/2 scoop of protein. Once I sat at my desk, I was ready to curl into a ball.
The stomach bug hit.
Around 10 I decided I should get something in me, so I went for a piece of toast with butter, and had a Quest Bar around 12. As the day went on, the throwing up feeling went away, and really only my stomach was hurting. I hit up Market Basket on my lunch break to grab stomach bug essentials and items I desperately needed.
$20 bucks for all of the above. I wanted to cry! I was expecting maybe $15, but apparantly the bread was over $4 bucks! That’s what you get when they don’t put price tags in the bread aisle. Thiefs!
I dropped my groceries at my apartment, packed the serving size of goldfish (55) in a bag, and headed back to work.
30 minutes later the stomach bug came back full force. I left work at 3:15 and was on my couch, under a blanket and shivering. I watched anything and everything, closed my eyes, napped, and puked, and by 7 I was able to feel better and ate about 8 saltines while sipping on a Gatorade for the electrolytes.
I slept from 8:30 until 6 am straight, which is unheard of when I’m sick. My stomach felt queasy, so I shot my boss an email and told her I’d be in around noon. Got up at 8, and was nervous to try running, but I threw on a long sleeve t and ran a mile in my neighborhood. I figured the cold air would help and if I needed to throw up, I had the entire neighborhood to shoot targets. The run? I wanted to die. So I showered and went to work for 9:30.
I still haven’t had much of an appetite, but I did eat a banana around 10, and a plain greek yogurt with PB2 in it around 11:30.
It didn’t sit well in my stomach, but it stayed, so that’s all I cared about.
Around quarter of 2 I was feeling a lot better so I headed to the gym to attempt to run. Man even just having the stomach bug for 1 day and barely eating quickly plays games with your body! I ran 2 miles, rowed for 5 minutes, and then played with kettlebells for a little to regain the muscle I feel I’ve lost. I never wanted to puke during my workout, but my body was so sore that I was craving protein and missing nutrients.
A little after my workout I ate the mixed salad I brought to work. I topped it with tuna, but I wish I didn’t. That sucker has definitely left me feeling off. I spilled the tuna juice on my desk calendar so I’m currently basking in tuna perfume.
I cannot wait to eat food again.
