Several weeks ago I learned that the beautiful and spunky Erica became an ambassador for Royal Hawaiian Orchards, a company out of Hawaii that creates seasoned macadamia nuts and intoxicating flavors of macadamia clusters. Royal Hawaiian Orchards products are all GMO and Gluten-Free, which is big for most of us who are trying to be as healthy as possible.
Taken from their website, “we use only wholesome, pure, simple, unmodified ingredients straight from our orchards – good for the body, good for you.”
Royal Hawaiian Orchards incorporates their Hawaiian love and respect for nature in the harvesting and sourcing processes – aka they rely almost exclusively on rainfall for irrigation. They take their rock star status up a notch by using the macadamia nut shells to power their facilities.
Okay, if you don’t love their products, then you have to at least love their company mission and beliefs. Lucky for me, I love both.
I was intrigued by their different products and immediately reached out to them. Truth is, I’m addicted to macadamia nuts and my Mom hated that addiction when I lived at home. She would buy the cans of mixed nuts, and within minutes of spotting the new can, I’d pick out about 90% of the macadamias, and later get in trouble for it. I knew I needed to get my hands on a bag of these.
Within a week I had a package of their Kona Coffee Banana Macadamia Crunch, “clusters of roasted macadamias, crunchy almonds, Heavenly Hawaiian 100% Kona coffee beans and sweet banana,” and brainstormed the perfect summer protein shake.
It sounded heavenly, and in turn, a heavenly shake was made.
Kona Coffee Banana Macadamia Protein Shake
Say that ten times fast.
- 7 Macadamia Clusters
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 10 oz of almond milk
Combine 7 nut clusters in a food processor for several minutes until you get a nut butter consistency.
Blend milk, frozen banana chunks, protein powder and macadamia nut butter in a blender.
Top with crushed cluster crumbles.
This recipe is incredibly easy to whip up, and tastes incredible X 10. If a tropical summer could be summed up in one drink, it’s this baby right here.
I loved how half of the cluster crumbles stayed on the top and the other half sank to the bottom. It was an unexpected treat once I got to my last sip.
The shake is sweeeet, with extra e’s to emphasize the sweetness of it. I downed mine in seconds flat while drooling over Neil Patrick Harris in a How I Met Your Mother episode. Truth be told, I’m not sure if I was drooling over NPH or this shake. It was that good.
Best part is that these clusters are bigger than my eyeballs!
Ain’t that glorious!
You can eat them straight up, make fabulous nut butters, shakes, or throw them into pancakes or on top of a parfait!
Special thanks to Joni and Royal Hawaiian Orchards for hooking me up and getting me addicted!
