My legs hurt, and I blame my new favorite move. Walking lunges. Backwards. With a barbell. This move hurts so bad, especially when you pair it with forward walking lunges, squats, and deadlifts thrown in between.
On Friday, I was completing forward walking barbell lunges with a barbell across our group exercise room, while also completing barbell squats and bent-over barbell rows. My legs were insanely worked, and after walking across the room, I was so tired and lazy to have to turn around, that I just started lunging backwards.
So yesterday evening, I decided to make a complete and different leg workout out of it.
This leg workout might not seem like much, but you tell me how your legs feel after this one. After completing 4 sets of the above workout, I attempted the rowing machine, but after 2 minutes, my legs had nothing left in them, so I jumped on the spinning bike for a bit to loosen them up.
After about 30 minutes biking and a cool-down on the treadmill, I called it a night and headed home to this little girl.
Since the forecast called for a snowstorm, I packed up Lanie’s belongings and brought her home, since I really didn’t want to be snowed in by myself in someone else’s house. Lanie spent a solid 2 hours chasing and wrestling with Kip, and I’m pretty sure I was more exhausted just watching and monitoring the 2 pups.
This morning I was up wayyy too early for a Sunday, but that just meant that I was able to get my run in earlier than usual. I spent an hour and a half on the couch watching Cougar Town until 9:30, before tackling a 4 mile run.
I enjoyed a 3 egg white and 1 egg cheese scramble with a cup of veggies after my run. Those pieces of broccoli were such a struggle to choke down. Not sure what it is, but the thought of broccoli now makes me cringe. I feel like a 5-year-old who hates their veggies.
It was then time to drive through the snow to show my parents my new apartment. My parents are pretty opinionated and picky when it comes to the type of area I live in, so I was very pleased when they both gave me the stamp of approval!
Here’s part of my bedroom! Love the curved walls, the windows and floor. So open and bright… even if this picture is dark!
And the view from my bedroom into the living room and hallway. So excited to go shopping for it next weekend!
The rest of my day was spent picking up a new sweater, returning my Nike’s and buying a new pair, before getting in my afternoon “lazy” workout. I walked 2 miles on the treadmill before completing a 15 minute cardio kickboxing video on On Demand. I wasn’t up for a big workout, but I wanted to get my body moving, so this mini workout was perfect.
Now, I’m cuddled up on the couch with Lanie watching TV and enjoying a lazy Sunday evening.
Hope you all had a fun and relaxing weekend! 🙂
