Learning How To Blog Again & Let Me Update You On My Life

What is this blog thing, and how do I publish a post? It’s been about a month and a half since I last logged into this sweet child of mine, and to be honest, I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever about taking a step back to simply live my life.

A lot has changed since then, and at the same time, not a lot has changed. I’ve done a lot of living, consisting of traveling, dating, spending time with family, and having plenty of girl time.

After receiving several comments about if I stopped blogging for good, and having my dear friend Sarah practically twist my arm at the gym about blogging, I finally felt that the time was right to make my return.

So why the blog comeback? Well, about 4 months ago I had made a decision to pursue something that would require about 2-3 years of dedication and extreme focus to complete, and while it was something that I wanted to do, ultimately, I decided that in the next few years, marriage and starting a family were something that I also wanted, and weighing the two, I found that living a fulfilling life and getting out and meeting people was more important. So my plate is free of an unbearable workload, and since making that decision, I have been living my life to the fullest.

imageNow, I’m nowhere near this marriage thing and I’m pretty single, but I’ve been dating a lot, and it’s been a lot of fun! Staying out late on a work night eating and throwing back beers (hello rebel!), going to ball games, playing mini golf, staying up into the middle of the night just talking… it’s been fabulous!

I’ve been living my life for me, and it’s amazing how once you find out who you truly are, don’t settle in life/love/happiness, that you are finally able to start living life to the fullest. I’ve got that going for me, and life is just so good.

So what have I been up to besides dating? Traveling!

At the end of May, I traveled to Nashville to visit Ryan and Chelsey (my brother and SIL, for those not in the know), for about 4 ½ days.

We went to downtown Broadway.

And while Nashville is cool, I didn’t fall in love with it like I was hoping to. Just further proof that my home and heart is in New England.

I also just got back from a trip to Iowa, where I almost mounted a pig.

And I hugged an ear of corn.

I celebrated the birth of my best friend and gym partner, Ashley, with her family, who treat me as their own. I love them!

I enjoyed a wonderful Father’s Day with my parents.

And quality time with Lindze, Mike, Lucas, & Brinkley.

And this weekend, I celebrated my cousin Nikki’s bachelorette in Ogunquit, ME.

Sarah told me that I would know when I would be ready to start blogging again, and I am. I was excited simply typing this post up, and I cannot wait to settle into a realistic blogging routine.

Going forward, I would love to hear what kind of posts you would like to see me write. I know that I personally don’t really care to read about people’s workouts, simply because I have my own routine down pat, but maybe that’s just me. So here is your chance to tell me what you want from me! Do you want to see what I’m eating, workouts, dating stories, day in the life posts, random things, macros/fitness progress? Lay it on me!

    Love the update/”hearing” your voice! Living life is a good choice – I’ve had another mind shift this year and blogging hasn’t been weighing down my mind as much, which is great! I’m already finding out that my twenties are going to be full of these, and that is totally okay! I’m putting more focus on me/my happiness and trying to get a little bit better handle on “life” (if that is even possible…). Honestly, I just love these lifestyle posts – I think that is truly my favorite place to read blog posts from!

      Kelsey, so happy to hear that feeling the need to blog is no longer weighing you down! I always feel that we should only blog when our little hearts feel the insane need to do so! Focusing on yourself is the best thing you could do in this awesome thing called life! Do you and blog when you want to. And thank you for the input on the blog posts you like best!     So glad you are back! And that life seems to be so fun for you right now! I just love honest Allie posts because I usually end up laughing or smiling. The guy and I are headed to Nashville for vacation in September…I hope it’s not disappointing so I’ll try to not have expectations! And hopefully it’s not humid then! Have a great week lady!

      LOVE seeing your name pop up in my comments again Lesli!! 🙂 It makes me happy knowing that I can make you smile or laugh — I’ll do my best to keep that up! Nashville just seemed very foodie/drink heavy, and the fact that I like to track my macros and not eat out a lot, it was kind of not really my scene. My brother and wife are also just learning the hot spots in the area since they just moved, so I think next visit I’ll have better recommendations! Ps, I’ll be using the gritgirls hashtag again!!!

        Yeah…I’ve been already researching places to eat and drink haha Let’s just say macros will NOT be counted but the place we rented has a gym and we figure to get a run or two in. So glad you’re back on the gritgirls bus! I’m taking some months off but I’m eyeing a competition…maybe…

    YOU’RE BACK. THANK THE LORD. I check your blog daily, and today I squealed with excitement that you had a new post! I just spiffed up my blog a bit. Check it out! Give me tips!

    As far as your content is concerned, I have this feeling you’re transforming into something new, instead of only fitness. Don’t get me wrong, I love your fitness posts and product reviews. I workout 5-6 days a week and scarf down protein bars like it’s my job (because I genuinely enjoy doing so), so I’m ALL about healthy lifestyle posts. But you’re kind of heading in a overall happiness/lifestyle blog, and it suits you. Go with it. Kick booty.

    Also, so happy you’re happy and decided to forgo your previous 2-3 year commitment plans in pursuit of partnership and family.

    Glad you’re back girly! I love your life update and it sounds like you’re had a wonderful time off! I look forward to more dating stories because that’s where the juicy stuff is. 😉 BUT, I also would love to hear about balancing living life to the fullest and trying to stay on track with workouts and nutrition!

    I went on 4 dates in 3 days last weekend. The first date went the best, so hopefully that goes somewhere. I’m glad you took some time away, I blog twice a week still and while my posts aren’t top notch I’m happy to be documenting what I can.
