Yesterday sure was a crazy one. After waking up and not being in pain, I attempted a run, which was one of the most painful runs of my life. Okay, it was easily the most painful run I’ve ever had because of my shoulder pain and tight oblique cramping.
At 1 I headed to my doctor’s to get it checked out, and of course when I arrived I was no longer in pain. The nurse practitioner honestly had no idea what was going on, and her only possible answer was that I had gas build-up which led to cramping, and then traveled to create the shoulder pain.
Um no, not it at all. I left and went to Concord to run some errands since I was feeling good.
My first stop was at Dick’s Sporting Goods in hopes of finding new running shoes since mine are almost at their mileage limit. In the past I’ve never liked the feel of the Nike Free ‘s, but lately I’ve had my eye on them. So many choices, but unfortunately I left empty-handed.
That all changed at TJ Maxx though!
I’ve never seen a food aisle that big at a TJ’s or Marshalls, so I was awe-struck when I came across this. I even found a jar of coconut oil for $5.99, and since I’ve been curious about it for a while, I didn’t think twice to grab it. I also left with an extremely fancy and pretty ice cream bowl!
Which fit my strawberry banana protein shake perfectly. I continued my day with watching the Cougar Town marathon before heading out to run errands.
Well, my oblique and shoulder pain came back full force, and my errands quickly brought me to urgent care.
The doctors kept me waiting and waiting.
I was getting pretty annoyed that the pain was going away again and that I was still waiting. This scraggily kid came in and took me for x-rays, and then told me my doctor would be in. I waited and waited. Rude.
And then in walked Patrick Dempsey’s twin. I seriously wish I was kidding, but I’m not. Any time I have to go to urgent care, the ER, or visit someone, I always pray the doctor will look like McDreamy, so when he walked in, I literally sat there in a shocked state.
Turns out it wasn’t a gas build up, and instead I have a muscle spasm in my right shoulder, and consequently I tweaked my right oblique.
I did my best to keep McDreamy in my room for as long as possible in hopes that Cupid would come early and shoot him with a love arrow. Didn’t happen, but I’ll probably just try to reinjure myself so I can see him again. Future husband!
Betsy did a great job of making me laugh and cringe in pain during the process. Laughing with a tweaked oblique is no joke. So seriously, don’t make me laugh unless I’m on my muscle relaxers.
I slept like a rock last night, woke at 10:30 and jumped on the couch with my Strawberry Parfait.
So good! I’m staying parked on the couch for a little bit while I work on getting the Blog Pages set up before I attempt a run. I want to head out to GNC later to take advantage of Gold Card week, and I also would love to hit the gym and get a leg workout in. Hey, just because my upper body is injured, doesn’t mean I can’t work my lower body!
Hope everyone’s Saturday is off to a great start!
