*First off, let’s tackle the important things first. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETH!!! Hope you have the best day ever Twin!
Yesterday was a two thumbs up kind of day… aside from the fact that I hobbled around all day due to the after-effects of Tina’s (cousin Jenn go to her blog) ”Chipper” workout.
Please, like I did 70 burpees. I followed it until the burpees, which I switched spots with the push-ups. I didn’t have time for the hollow rocks or hand-release push-ups, so I cut those. I look forward to doing this in full this weekend though!
When I woke up yesterday, I didn’t want to work out, but I took it easy. I ran 2 miles, in which the last mile was HIIT, and followed it up with 10 minutes on the elliptical, 500m row, and stretching! It felt good to work through a cranky body.
Since my on-ramp Crossfit classes start the Wednesday after Labor Day, I’m trying to practice my rowing, and have been tracking my times for 500m rows. Thanks to my awesome cousin Jenn who taught me the proper way to row.
So, yesterday I couldn’t walk, but I got to have lunch with the coolest guy ever.
After work I spent a good amount of time in Target. You know you’re getting old when a wild Thursday evening includes trying to find a spaghetti squash, browsing food processors, and trying to find a good deal on cute new bed sheets. Am I 70 or 25? I’m not really sure.
After Target, I was wicked hungry, so I whipped up a protein shake that I have been obsessed with lately.
This is the best protein shake I have ever had… at least until I make another shake that is the best I’ve ever had.
Sweet Cherry Blackberry Protein Shake
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 cup frozen blackberries… or black raspberries
- 1/4 cup frozen sweet cherries
- handful of spinach
- Combine all of the ingredients in a blender.
- Blend & drink it up
Or lick it, if you’re Jake. (I also really don’t understand why my Dad bought Jake a pink name tag).
It was both cat and Mom approved, which means it was a good one!
Just look at how strong and muscular Jake looks after his protein shake. That little boy makes my life complete!
After an evening walk with my parents and Kip, I whipped up a small batch of maple almond butter. Holy schnikes, so good!
I have been craving a neighborhood run, and haven’t run in the hood in over a week and a half, so I decided to have a sleepover at my parents so I could get a morning run in.
The run was great, despite sore legs, but the fall-like temperatures made it bearable. The thing about running outside as opposed to a treadmill at the gym is that you can run wicked slow and no one will know if you’re going fast or not!
I ran 3.75 miles, and would have hit 4 if I didn’t snooze 2 times. Oopps. Live and learn. I also saw a lot of dissected frogs on the side of the road. I will leave that image with you for the day.
BIG AWESOME weekend is a’ comin! Beach house in York with my cuzzo, aunt n uncle possibly tonight but for sure tomorrow, and then on Sunday I’ll be in New York City with the love of my blogging life, Jen. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Have you ever met a blogger? Who are you dying to meet?
