Sometimes all you need is quality time with some of your favorite girls to relieve stress.
Saturday morning, after a nice 3.3 mile run, Lindsay picked me up, and we headed to Stamford, CT, where our college roomie, Michelle, lives. Our other roomie, Nicole, met us there as well, and around 1:30, we headed into NYC.
We spent several hours just walking around, shopping, and eating. The M&M store is always our favorite place to shop and always our only item we “need” to do in the city.
I surprised myself and didn’t buy any candy, although I did steal a few sample pieces. Chocolate is happiness. I hadn’t seen Michelle and Nicole in almost a year since our last trip to NYC, so it was awesome being with my girls again. The best part is that it’s as if no time has passed since we’ve talked or seen each other. I love those friendships!
By the time we got back to Michelle’s, it was almost 9 pm, so we changed into our pj’s and cuddled up on the couch because we are so old, and watched Identity Theft. I LOVED it! Jason Bateman was in it, so of course I was all for this movie.
Linds and I hit the road around quarter of 9 and arrived back home a little after 12. I realllllly didn’t want to run, but I quit complaining and set out for 2 easy miles. I slept on the floor in a sleeping bag Saturday night and my body was in so much pain, so I wanted to keep the run short. Instead, I was loving the run, and completed 3.65 miles. I ran for the heck of it, and threw in a handful of walking breaks. It was gorgeous out and I didn’t care about using the run to try to get good splits. It reminded me of why I love to run.
The rest of the day was spent hanging around my parents, relaxing, and catching up on blogs. Such a great weekend, and I’m confident this week will be much less stressful!
I love my girls and can’t wait to see them in several weeks for the Cosmic Run!
Do you have runs where you just do whatever you want and not adhere to your splits, time or distance?
