On Sunday I had one of the best days of summer. At 5 am, I rolled out of bed, had barely enough time to get a 1 mile run in to keep my streak alive, and then headed to Boston to take the bus into Manhattan.
I had about 10 minutes to spare before they boarded the bus. I don’t have the nickname “Last Minute Lewie” for nothing. 😉
This ride was interesting to say the least. Long story short, out of alllll the seats on the bus… a handful were open… a drug dealer sat next to me. Ya know, the sketchy guy with like 4 phones. The bus driver asked everyone to talk quietly and limit phone calls. I’m pretty sure this dude had several calls per hour. I swear I attract the creepers. I’m working on being a better b**ch to get people to stay away, something that proves difficult.
After a quick bus ride, I was finally in Manhattan with the love of my life, Jen. We have been talking nonstop for the past year, and finally were able to meet. We literally talk almost every day, and it’s about anything and everything. Relationships, food, macros, work, bathroom issues. You name it, we talk it.
When we met, it was honestly like we were friends who hadn’t seen each other in a few days. You never know if you’ll hit it off with someone you’ve never met, but we both passed the first friend date, and I now love her 100 times more than before.
We talked and walked 2.5 miles to Chobani Soho, which I have been dying to try out. This was the only thing I requested we do when I visited.
We looked like fangirls taking pictures from the street, but we didn’t have a care in the world.
I have a mild obsession with cafes and shops that write and draw on chalkboards, so I had an inner freak out when I saw the first display in Chobani.
Chobani is celebrating one year in this location, and they have big and fun plans for the future. Chobani had a really great set-up inside, with open coolers of yogurts, nuts, and other items you could purchase. You could even go behind the counter and watch the chefs make your yogurt bowl.
You could choose between a small or large glass bowl, which had “Chobani” embedded in it. You could keep the bowl or give it back and recycle for $.25 off your next bowl. We WANTED those bowls!
I ordered the Pistachio + Chocolate bowl, because chocolate and nuts is a no brainer.
Pistachio + Chocolate: Decadent Dark Chocolate, Clover Honey, Turkish Pistachios, Fresh Orange, and Fresh Mint
This was hands down the best yogurt bowl I have ever had. It makes me never want to eat a regular cup of Cho again. You could even take home the recipe cards of all the creations, but you can also view them all online as well! An added bonus is that Cho lists the nutritional facts too!
With bellies full of our beloved Chobani, we headed 1.8 miles uptown/downtown/somewhere-town to the High Line, and continued our walk and talking love fest up there. (Side Note: I was still hungry and sweaty, so naturally I whipped out a bag of sliced apples and deodorant while we were walking. A real friend is one who doesn’t judge and thinks you’re a genius for this).
I love this girl! We asked this man with a lovely accent to take our picture, and he literally took at least 15 of the exact same picture. We couldn’t stop laughing when looking at Jen’s camera roll, and I think I had a hysterical laughing fit for a solid 5 minutes after.
We were then hungry for more blogger-approved food, so we headed over to Yogurtland for some fro-yo. I don’t think Jen was excited enough for dessert before dinner.
Jen encouraged me to try the lemon cream cookie and I kid you not, my life has been forever changed. I will go back and stick my head under the pump and take lemon cream shots. And fresh whipped cream. I am moving to NYC.
Right after fro-yo we headed over/up/down/I’m bad with direction a few blocks to meet up with John, Jen’s super cute and lovely boyfriend, for pizza. The pizza was thin crust, and very light, which I liked. I was craving my greens though, so I started with a big salad.
Yes, we ate Chobani, fro-yo and pizza and are the healthiest healthy living bloggers out there. Days like yesterday are bigger than graduations and weddings and births, so it was 215% necessary that we went big.
After pizza, I wanted to bawl my eyes out, as I had to say goodbye to my 2 new favorite NYC locals and head back to reality.
The ride home was almost as entertaining, as the foreign Justin Bieber sat in front of me. His friend sat next to me, where I was stuck in the window seat. I ended up giving Biebs my seat so they could sit together and I could have the aisle seat in front. #Weakbladderproblems.
I also think I took a nap on the lady’s shoulder next to me. That or my extreme head snap was the reason I woke up to her looking at me. Never sit next to be. If you recall, I elbowed my boss in my sleep on the plane from Denver last month.
I had such an amazing day, and I cannot wait until I can see this girl again in the fall. Thanks so much for being the best host ever, Jen! xo
