Aside from feeling like a busted can of biscuits on Wednesday, I have gotten some really invigorating workouts in this week. I’m feeling like a total athlete these days… and not just because my Constantly Varied Gear tank says so.
On Wednesday we had a big day at CrossFit Ad Finem, in which we completed “CrossFit Total.”
This workout is one where we test how much our strength has improved over a certain amount of time. For us, it was 3 months. We last did this workout on 11/22. There are 3 moves:
- Strict Press
You’re allowed several warm-up sets, in which you slowly increase your weight, before you begin your working set. Once you start, you have 3 chances to find your 1RM (1 rep max).
In 3 months time, I added 55 lbs to my backsquat (!!!!), 10 lbs to my strict press (this ain’t no joke move), and 35 lbs to my deadlift. I now deadlift 200 lbs… and even that was easy! My CrossFit total jumped from 370 three months ago, to 470 on Wednesday. Wooooie!! Big gains!
During my first few deadlift warm-ups and my first working set, I had my feet extremely far apart, and when Mat told me to bring them in more, I found that my lifts became so much easier. To the point where it was like lifting a feather.
And then, on Thursday, to battle the busted biscuits exploding from my pants, I headed to Gold’s Gym to get a run in. 4 easy, glorious miles run before work. When you don’t run every day your body rewards you with happy runs later in the week. 🙂 I’m sure my runs this weekend will be tough since sometimes your body is just a complete biznatch. It’s not always glitter and rainbows.
Oh, and to continue on the happiness in this post, I have baby fever every time I see my cousin’s son. Lucas is the cutest little chunky monkey butt ever.
This weekend the girls at our CrossFit box are getting together tomorrow afternoon for a girls day, in which we are going to You’re Fired for some fun pottery and painting, and rumor has it, dinner and drinks after.
And then seeing this little man again on Sunday. Best weekend ever!!!
What do you have planned for the weekend?
