We made it through Monday, which I think is cause for a celebration. Today’s Tuesday post is going to be a little bit different. Before we get into it, I want to introduce you to Sara, of Lake Shore Runner. I came across Sara’s blog probably about 6+ months ago, and it’s been a blog that I’ve really enjoyed reading. Sara started a Tuesday link-up called “Tried it Tuesday,” where she blogs about new fitness classes, recipes, random things, etc, that she has just tried. Since I’ve tried a few new-to-me things over the past few days, I thought it’d be fun to link-up with her blog.
So on Sunday I tried barre for the 2nd time; the first time being about a year ago. When Lindsay & Nicole asked if I would be interested in trying out a class with them, I was on board. I really wanted some girl time, along with trying a new type of workout.
I had been to the Fuse Yoga & Fitness studio before for a Surfset class, but other than that, I haven’t been back since.
The class was HARD. My legs were shaking, my abs were about to explode, and there were moments where I didn’t think I could hold a pose any longer. I think a lot of people don’t give barre enough credit for the workout it gives you.
I chose the 2 lb dumbells, as I remember my arms getting tired rather quickly last time, and I am so glad I did. I have a pretty strong upper body and arm strength, so it was rather humbling to struggle with those 2 pounders. The burn was unreal! And pumping your legs in squats, lunges and leg raises are no joke. I’m pretty sure I whimpered my way through those moves.
On Sunday I didn’t have a specific body part that was really sore, but overall, my body just felt so exhausted, and I was ready for bed by 6. On Monday, again, my body overall felt tired, and my attempt at running Monday morning was plagued with heavy legs. I had a non-stop twitch in my right arm all day, and I’m not sure if that was a result from the class? Regardless, it was BEYOND annoying, and I almost had a mental breakdown from 8 hours of bicep twitching. << I have a short fuse apparently haha.
Overall, I really loved the difficulty of the class, and can definitely see myself taking a class every now and then!
Have you ever tried a Barre class?
