Greetings from Florida my friends!
Friday
How’s that for a view? Minus the dirty window. When my cousin Nikki went to the bathroom, I looked out her window and saw this. THE most beautiful view I’ve ever seen.
Once we landed, we grabbed lunch in The Meadows, which was about 30 minutes from where we are staying in Venice. My view from lunch. Now that’s the perfect way to start our vacation!
Once we made it to our house, we dropped our bags off and headed off to go grocery shopping. My cousin’s boss has a house out here, so we have a full kitchen to take advantage of. We got back to the house around 6:30, and went for a bike ride around the neighborhood.
Mind you we decided to go riding 10 minutes before sunset, so we managed to ride home in the dark.
After our bike ride, I meal prepped and Nikki took a bath, before watching Lifetime movies and falling asleep at 10.
Saturday
We started our morning off with a run in the neighborhood. We learned a lesson. Never run at 8:30 or later. Half a mile in and I was drenched in sweat. We also learned just how out of shape we are since we were huffing and puffing for 2.75 miles before calling it a day.
After our run, we showered up, packed food, and headed to the beach for 5 hours. We were total beach bums and loved every second of it.
The beach was so beautiful, and the views, oh my gosh! I honestly did not feel like I was in Florida, and instead, on a tropical island. Why I don’t live here is beyond me.
We were on Caspersen Beach, which Nikki told me is the beach with the most shark teeth on it. She was right, because almost everyone was out in the water looking for teeth.
We then headed home to shower, before heading into downtown Venice, where we walked the cute boulevard, and popped into the cute boutiques before grabbing an outdoor table at Daiquiri Deck Raw Bar. This is my new favorite spot! There was a live musician playing oldies and new hits.
This reminded me of back when I was in Los Angeles, and I would go to Hermosa/Manhattan Beach to spend time with a guy I was casually seeing. This was the exact same vibe that was in southern Cali, and I really loved it, and it made me truly miss living in an area like this.
Nikki started her night off with a martini, while I sipped my lemon water. It got crazy. 😉
I ordered the tallest Cobb Salad known to man kind, and demolished it.
Don’t worry, I made room for a slice of pizza with a street art turtle.
We made it home around 8, and since we were so exhausted, we watched 13 Going on 30 before going to bed again at 10. We are wild vacation woman.
And now we’re off to Siesta Key for the day and evening! Woo 🙂
