Yesterday I had the case of the Mondays. It was extremely difficult to wake up when my alarm went off at 4:50 after having a late night with my family, but I somehow managed to get out of bed and to the gym.
I definitely did not want to be there, but I managed to put myself through a sprint/walk workout. I used to do my HIIT runs where my recovery would be a slow jog, but I found that if I do a shorter recovery of walking, my body likes that much more!
But before I left for the gym, I snagged a flourless peanut butter banana muffin for fuel. I usually workout fasted, but now that I’m not following macros, I decided to have it since it sounded good to me. I would HATE to use up macros at 5 am when I tracked because macros are so precious, but now that I’m focusing on nourishing my body with the foods it’s craving, I’m doing just that.
Before the work day began, I took out my Fitbook and wrote down my goals for this week. So far it’s Tuesday morning and I’ve managed to stay on track with the nutrition goal, but not the fitness goal. Oops! I’ll either lift or do barre tomorrow, so I’ll make SOME progress towards the fitness goal!
At 9:15 I began to get a bit hungry, so I crumbled a cherry pie LARABAR and mixed it in a cherry greek yogurt. This is my current addiction!
I had a bowl of rainbow chickpea salad at 11:35, and since my sweet tooth was on high, I also enjoyed a KIND bar. That hit the spot and my craving instantly went away. From what I’m reading in my Intuitive Eating book, if you just listen to your body and eat the food that you’re craving, you’ll consume far less if you ignore it and try to satisfy your craving with tons of filler foods or low-fat foods. I was going to share with you a picture of that blurb in the book, but I’m now realizing that the picture I took didn’t save!
On my lunch break I got a bit light-headed and hot while at Wal-Mart, so I knew this meant that I needed to eat. I had an ON Cake Bites bar in my trunk, so I grabbed that and ate it before driving back to work. It did the trick and kept me full for 2 hours.
Through years of paying attention to my body, one thing that I have learned is that if I get a little bit light-headed or over-heated, it’s my body’s way of telling me that it needs food. I began to feel this way at 4:20, so I had a mini LARABAR to tide me over until dinner time.
For dinner, I made a tuna melt wrap with a few cherry tomatoes on the side. The cheese definitely didn’t melt how I was hoping it would, but the crunch factor of the wrap made up for it. I also add relish to my tuna since I like the flavor that it adds to it! I ate this probably around 5:40 or so!
For an evening snack, I munched on maybe a serving and a half of Port City cinnamon sugar pretzels. I tested myself by eating from the bag and not putting some in a bowl, and I was actually proud of myself because I didn’t feel like I overdid it and I stopped when I was satisfied. These pretzels are from a local to NH company, and the are ADDICTING!
What was your favorite meal or snack from Monday?
The KIND bar. So good!!
What are you craving?
