Hey guys, happy Monday, and I hope you all had a great weekend and Father’s Day spent with those special father figures in your life!
My day was spent perfectly with my parents, with an afternoon with my Daddio.
I ended up arriving to my parents Saturday night around 9:30, and I joined them in watching the Bruins pull out a sweet OT victory.
I slept like crap, but I blame it on my body being so sore from the workout, run, and tennis on Saturday. After waking up, I lounged around the house with my parents, and made my Dad open his gift from my brother and I early.
We threw together a bucket full of his favorite things.
My Dad is obsessed with washing cars, and his wash bucket I believe was older than me (no joke), so we stuffed a new lime green one with Bud Light, peanuts (I always eat his), 2 different bbq sauces, a Snickers bar, a new grey golf shirt, and a $25 gift card to Home Depot and the local meat house. Pretty sure he loved it. He was most excited about the wash bucket, peanuts and beer. 😉
After that, while my Dad ran an errand, I set out for a 4.1 neighborhood run. It was awful. My body was dragging, and the sun was blazing, but the run was good for something.
House hunting. There are so many houses for sale in the neighborhood, which really excites me, because I’d love to move back into my parents neighborhood. Not too many people say that, but it is seriously THE BEST neighborhood to run in. I could run a solid 6 miles throughout it without having to repeat streets. It is the perfect mix of uphill, downhill, and flat stretches.
I decided to take a different loop at the end of my run to see if my dream house was for sale.
Gorgeous right? It even has my dream white picket fence! Unfortunately it’s not on the market, but I’m patiently waiting, and it will be mine. I can just picture little Allie and Bradley Coopers running around the front lawn. 😉
I then ate breakfast on the porch with my parents, while my Mom played with Kipper. And then it was time to drag my Dad to the driving range. (He is not posing with his hand on his stomach. His golf club handle blends in with his shirt.)
He somewhat despises playing the game, and has a work tournament this Wednesday, so we decided a little practice would be good.
We spent some time hitting the ball around, and then we had a friendly competition of choosing greens, targets and cans to aim for.
We both had large buckets, and good lord that was way too many! I started getting golf ADD and was trying to crank through the bucket before my hands fell off.
It was so much fun, and after, we headed home around 3:30 to relax and bbq. I picked up a watermelon, which was the best, and snacked on it before dinner.
Since the grocery store was literally right next door to the driving range, my Dad let me run in quickly to grab a few things so that I could meal prep at their house so I could stay longer (best Dad ever).
While my parents had grilled chicken and sausage, I went for shredded chicken salad that I had just prepped. It was calling to me! Served with a side of steamed green beans and 2 roasted potatoes.
Shoutout to my awesome Mom who took care of prepping my chicken for me, returning my DVDs, and picking up my prescription so I had more Dad time. Best Mom ever, right?!?
After dinner, I packed up and headed back to my place because I had to get things in order for my first day of work!
I cleaned out the fridge of old food, prepped a batch of protein waffle sticks for the next few days (be on the lookout for a recipe), and put together things to bring to the first day of my new job.
And if you want to see how I’m making a first impression today, it’s by wearing my new lime green cutout dress. Paired with a light pink cardigan, I think I’d make Janae proud by looking like a toned-down watermelon.
Please disregard the mess of my room last night. For once I actually planned my outfit the night before and not 5 minutes before having to be out the door.
Gosh jolly I’m growing up.
I spent the rest of my night watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians while eating Arctic Zero coffee and vanilla maple ice cream in bed. Topped with Walden Farms chocolate syrup and Walden Farms marshmallow fluff. Perfect dessert for trash TV.
LOVE YOU DAD!
And as a final note, it is currently day 1 of my new job, so please pray that I am alive over there.
What’d you do for Father’s Day?
Did you eat watermelon?
