A Lovely Weekend Recap

Oh friends, what a happy, happy weekend! I had everything I could have wanted this weekend. My best friend, family, killer workouts, and a donut. A DONUT.

My Friday night was pretty low key, which is honestly how I like it. I had about a solid month+ where I was going on several dates a week and you know what, it felt incredibly good to just have a Friday night to myself and not have to worry about getting dolled up. I was having fun dating, but when something doesn’t feel right and if you feel like saying yes to being someone’s boyfriend will have you settling, girls, do not say yes! Be like Megan Trainor and say “no!”

Anyways, back to my Friday night story. I ran errands and then enjoyed a bowl of peanut butter protein fluff with sprinkles, while watching YouTube videos.

Saturday morning started at 7 am with this babe of mine. After warming up, Ashley and I worked our back and shoulders for about an hour, before I hit the treadmill for a run. image

And then it was home to shower quickly, before picking up the bride-to-be for her bridal shower. I’m so excited for Nikki (my cousin) to get married this July!!image

While Nikki mingled with relatives and friends, we had a mini photoshoot, which always seems to happen when we are together.image

After the shower, I headed back to my apartment for a few things, before heading over to my parents to spend time with them… aka, Mom and I watched several shows while Dad did lawn work.image

More grocery shopping afterwards so that I could make another bowl of protein fluff with all the works! For once I had self-control with the whipped cream. I’m growing up!imageSunday wasn’t too exciting. It included a run and leg workout, lots of “not for fun” reading.

Life As Of Late

Long time no talk! I’m surprised I even remembered my username and password to log into this little blog of mine, ha! I honestly did not mean to take over a week off, but ya know what? I did. It was refreshing. And I don’t feel bad about it! Actually, I did feel bad when my Mom called me out over the weekend for not blogging. She said I was probably disappointing my fans, in the nicest way possible, of course. I don’t think I have fans. I just have people that are just as nosy as I am and like knowing every little thing about people’s lives, haha!

So let’s play a little bit of catch up.

Since we last talked, I ran a St. Patrick’s Day race. They made me Irish for the day, and made me Allie O’Lewis! My new last name must have brought me luck on race day. I’ve run this race 3 years in a row, each time getting a faster time. Well this year, I actually beat my time from 2015 by a minute and 8 seconds. Looks like all of my speed work is paying off!

I ran it with Ashley, my gym buddy and partner-in-crime. She blew last year’s time out of the water too, and I’m almost positive she ran it about 2 minutes faster! This girl is by my side at the gym pushing me harder and making me laugh 5-6 days of the week, and I wouldn’t change a thing. We are starting an accountability program as of today to work towards our goals, which just happen to be the same.millennium-running-st-patricks-day

I’ve been obsessed with all things veggie. I’ve added cauliflower crumbles to my oatmeal for volume and veggies, and am back at it with spaghetti squash!spaghetti-squash

Rice cakes with protein pudding has been my new favorite snack. I mix 8 grams of sugar-free dry pudding mix with about 20 grams of protein powder, with water, and top 1 or 2 rice cakes with it. Add a bit of sprinkles for crunch, and it’s a great snack! I’m also guilty of just dunking the rice cakes in peanut butter. Sometimes you just have to live your life.image

Speaking of living my life, that’s another reason I haven’t been blogging much. I’m living my life away from the computer and internet. I’m doing things that will better my life, I’m dating again, and it’s SO MUCH FUN! Oh, and on my birthday, I chopped my hair off! I am obsessed with it, and feel like there’s a whole new level of sass to me.image

This was my favorite Easter ever. I laughed so much. I also enjoyed quality time with all of my cousins. I feel as if some holidays I only get to truly talk in depth with 1-2 cousins, but not at Easter, and I think that’s why it’s my favorite holiday. I’m so blessed that my cousins are some of my closest friends and that we can talk about anything and everything together.image

Lindsay just started a Whole30 on Monday, and she is going to do so well! I’m kind of wanting to do another Whole30 again simply because she inspires me!

Life is really great right now, and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier than I am right now. There’s something to be said about walking by faith and not by light. If you let go of the reigns that you’re trying to use to control your life, you’ll be a lot more happier and carefree. That is what I have done, and life seems to be wonderful.

I know that I’ve said that I’ll get back into a good blogging routine, but with spring here and more activities and time being spent outside, I truly plan on getting back into a good schedule, even if it’s only 2-3 posts a week. Sometimes you just need a break from blogging or any type of activity, and I feel as if the winter was a good time for me to do that! Have a great day! 🙂

Weekend Recap: Quality Time With The Little Man

Saturday morning started the best way possible. New running shoes and a kick-butt run.

MizunoCatalystThat run was much needed after an extremely stressful week at work. And that is why I didn’t pop in last week to blog; because I was contemplating jumping off of a cliff. image

For my run, I was testing out the new Mizuno Catalyst shoe that the company sent me. I started with 3 easy miles, and finished with 1.5 miles of sprints. For my HIIT, I do 30 seconds all out, and 90 seconds of recovery.

Lindze texted me and told me that Lucas was counting down until I arrived (melting heart), so I got ready as quickly as possible, and headed over to their house for a day date with Lindz and the kids. Our first stop was to Gibson’s Bookstore in downtown Concord, where we were perplexed by the trains.

imageLucas played so well with the other kids at the table, but once they all left, we had the entire train tracks to himself. You know I got in there and played trains too! 🙂

imageI know this post is a Lucas overload, but this sweet little boy probably owns that largest chunk of my heart.

Lucas taught me a new way to really savor your peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I could learn a thing or two from this little guy. He’s teaching me not to devour my food in 5 seconds.imageAfter a post-lunch reading of Under the Sea, I headed out, and spent the rest of the afternoon shopping for birthdays. While trying a shirt on in the dressing room, Lindze called me and we got to chatting. I was half in a shirt when she called me, and I somehow managed to get in and out of 2 shirts while still talking to her. 10 minutes later she goes, “I just realized you’re still in the dressing room!” I took the struggle of getting in and out of shirts while on the phone as a reminder that I wasn’t supposed to be spending money on myself during Lent, ha! Reminder noted!

I thought it was a good idea to make my apartment extremely dark and watch a Chucky movie. WHY?

imageSunday morning started with some encouraging progress pictures for my coach, before hitting the gym with Ashley. I had her for the 2nd part of my workout for my run and stairs. Having your girlfriend to talk to while on the stairmaster is one of the best ways to make it fly by. The only downside is when she makes you laugh so hard that you want to fall off of it.

The rest of Sunday was spent doing laundry for the largest load of smelly workout clothes, watching Hallmark Valentine’s Day movies, and visiting with my parents. And naturally stealing Kip. I get puppy time without the responsibilities of owning a dog. Win!

A Christmas Week Recap With 1 Sentence Per Picture

Newburyport, Beach Day, Pool Party & Dates

Happy Labor Day! Like most of you guys out there, I’m off from work today, most likely working out, frolicking in the sun, and going out! I’ll do a full recap of my day tomorrow, but let’s dive into what my weekend looked like with some pictures!… It was a fabulously fun weekend! 🙂

Friday

Date night out in Newburyport. I love this quaint little city, and eating dinner with views of the water wasn’t too shabby! The date… not so much fun haha!

Saturday

I was up bright & early at 5 am… gross! I had a lot of trouble sleeping, but I still got up to get a 3 mile run in. Around 8, Lindsay and I headed up to Wallis Sands Beach in Rye, NH, our favorite little beach, for a day in the sun. When we arrived at 9, there were only a few people there, so we were able to snag our favorite spot.

We placed our bags and towels down and then took a walk along the beach, where we took pictures of the ocean and of the beautiful houses.

We headed out late afternoon, and by the time I got home, I was pretty wiped out. I spent my evening watching The Kennedy’s with my new man candle, because this is almost like having a sexy man on your couch with you, ha!

Sunday

6 am workout, which included a 1 mile warm-up run, a chest and tricep workout, and then finished it up with a 1 mile run around the track right across from my apartment. I actually wasn’t lazy and walked from my apartment to the track instead of driving over.

After my workout and breakfast, I headed to the outlets to snag some of the Labor Day sales, and boy did I do good!

The sweater is extremely soft and comfortable, so thank goodness for a cold work office, which means that I don’t need to wait until the chillier days for this piece.

I think my favorite deal of the day were the bikini bottoms for a whopping 78 cents. I mean, how can you not buy them, especially when they fit perfectly!

Weekend Recap: Chicken Wings, Workouts & Family

I lalalalove weekends. So much. This weekend was nothing short of fun and amazing, and I have so much to be thankful for. From awesome family and friends to delicious chicken wings.

My Friday night was spent celebrating my cousin Lindze’s 30th birthday. Lindze had her birthday early last week, but her husband Mike had a bunch of her closest friends get together at Margarita’s for appetizers and drinks. I hadn’t been out in THE longest time, and I was really excited (once my headache went away). Ripped jeans, leopard flats, a white scrunched top from Express and a black leather jacket. It felt so nice to be dressed up and girly!

imageThe night was full of laughs, buffalo chicken wings (we had a mini boneyard going on our end of the table), chips, and other delicious Mexican appetizers, courtesy of an amazing husband. It was so much fun being out and seeing some of the awesome friends of Lindze’s that have also turned into people who I have grown to know over the years.

Saturday

I didn’t get to bed until about 11 Friday night, so I chose to turn off my 7:30 am alarm Saturday morning and slept another hour. The extra sleep felt nice, and after waking up a bit, I headed over to the gym to get a tempo run in.

1 mile warm-up run, 2 mile tempo run which was tough, and a very short cool down since I was absolutely out of steam. After the run it was on to a mini shoulder workout, 8 minutes of abs, and lots of stretching. My legs were really sore from two hard runs in a row, so it felt really nice to loosen them up a bit!

After my run, I showered, had a shake, and settled on the couch while I painted my nails and watched Castle while getting some blog work taken care of. An afternoon of errands and a Kardashians marathon ensued.

And then it was off to Massachusetts for the rest of the evening! 🙂

Sunday

Sunday I woke up exhausted as ever, but after a mini breakfast, I got dressed and headed to the gym for leg day. I wasn’t feeling it at all on my drive over there, but once I got to the gym, I was p-u-m-p-e-d up! It actually turned out to be one of the best leg workouts I’ve had in quite a bit of time!

imagePost gym I showered, made myself a strawberry protein shake, ate a hearty lunch, and then it was off for a movie date with my Mom!

We have 2 theaters in my town; an Imax and an older Regal Cinemas that lost it’s business when the Imax opened a few years ago. Regal decided to play the new movies once they left the main theater for about $3 a ticket, but they recently gave the theater a makeover and now they have ultra-reclining seats! It made Bradley Cooper 100x hotter. We ended up seeing The Longest Ride, and I would now like to add Scott Eastwood to my long list of men I’d like to marry.

imageAfter the movie, it was on to running errands, getting my hair cut, eating, and watching tv. All in all, a very productive, lazy and awesome weekend! 🙂

Family, Babies, Best Friends, Froyo and Fun

Hi my friends and happy Marathon Monday! I am so excited for all of the awesome runners that are getting out there and chasing their dreams and goals today on the course in beautiful Boston! I am especially excited to follow along some of my absolute favorite bloggers who will be running the course today { hi Janae, Tina, Kristin & Sarah!}

While I’m stuck at work following along, next year I absolutely plan on being on the side of the course cheering everyone on!

Enough marathon chatter, let’s move on to my fun-filled weekend! Friday night was an awesome family night. Ryan and Chelsey were home for the weekend so we started with a big grilled dinner and followed it up with game night… Pictionary!

Since I had a busy Saturday planned, I ended up headed to bed a little after 10 in order to get enough sleep. I was up a few minutes after 7 and headed straight to the gym to tackle a run. I had planned for 3-4, but because of cramps, I settled on a 2 mile run and abs. It was awful, but hey, workouts or runs can’t always be awesome.

It was then home to shower and eat, before heading a little over an hour away to my girl Lyndsay’s baby shower. I know Lyndsay from work, and absolutely love her, and the shower itself was just absolutely precious.
imageI didn’t know a single soul at the shower, so of course I was awkward turtle, but I made the best of it!

imageMy favorite were the M&MS, which I saved for Saturday night while watching House Hunters Boston!

image4 1/2 weeks until Baby Brynn arrives! My gorgeous gorgeous preggo friend.imageAfter the shower, I headed home, returned a pair of shoes at the outlets that I drove by, and made it home around 4:30. My original evening plans ended up changing, so Ryan and Chelsey asked if I would go to a BBQ with them. I was game!… especially since I love the couple we were going to spend the evening with. Middle school friends! It was so great spending the evening with an awesome group, and I miss it already!

image Once we got back home, we all huddled up on the couch where we snacked and watched House Hunters… a favorite! Around 10:30 I went up to bed since I knew I had a very busy Sunday lined up. I chose sleeping in instead of a workout, and got up around 8, showered, ate & browsed the flyers, and was out the door.

I headed down to Massachusetts to go on a walk/hike at Blue Hills Reservation with someone from my college years. We hiked up the little mountain obtrusion through the woods, and grabbed a seat at a rock right near the top of the chair lifts. Even though the picture doesn’t show it, the view was absolutely gorgeous! We ended up walking down the actual ski slope and I’m just lucky neither of us took a tumble!

blue-hills-reservationAfter the walk, I drove back to NH for a girl’s day with my best friend Lindsay. We started by heading into downtown Concord to try out Orange Leaf. We both got the Reese’s froyo (OMG) and cookies & cream froyo, and I topped mine with all things dessert.froyo

Birthday froyo! With full bellies, we walked over to Marshall’s to browse, before moving on to Target for a few essentials. It felt like college again shopping for living necessities! froyo

After our shopping, we headed back to Lindsay’s condo, where we played with her new kitten Lola, and had LOTS of girl talk. We literally talked nonstop for about 3 1/2 hours, and it was just so nice!

Look at how tiny this little girl is!kitty-lolaI didn’t get home until 7:30, and was so exhausted! I had been gone from 9:30 am until 7:30 pm, and all I wanted to do was crawl into bed. It was such a tiring weekend, but also so much fun!

I did SO good at Easter without touching sweets, and then I went crazy as if candy would never be available ever again.

Candy overload for pre-workout. I only did this on Tuesday. I still prefer my Larabars over the candy.

I’ve seen Thin Slim Foods on social media sites for several weeks now {oh hey Ashley}, and I bit the bullet last week and ordered the plain and cinnamon bagels. LOVE these! They have a lot less carbs and have protein in them, and while they obviously aren’t as good as real bagels, they are such a great alternative. I didn’t feel like I was eating a bagel replacement, and I loved how chewy it was!

On Wednesday night I got to go visit Lindze, Mike, Lucas and Brinkley for a little quality time. Look at my little god-daughter. 🙂 She has the cutest cheeks ever!

In between baby cuddles, I made sure to pay attention to my #1 man, Lucas. Who knew such joy could be had in pushing trucks back and forth. We just sat like this for a handful of minutes pushing trucks to one another.

Yesterday at the gym all I wanted to do was runrunrun. And it was a fail. After 2.5 miles I just didn’t have it in me. I was tired, unfocused and just felt so blah from the candy overload. Instead, I decided to do a little bit of ab work and about 10 minutes of stretching before heading to work. I am smiling because I’m done that crappy run. selfieCrappy run =  next run is a good run. Just a motto I live by as a runner. That and never give up on the bad runs. We can’t be perfect in life and our workouts every day. Just take the less than perfect days to motivate you to be better the next day or workout.

Does anyone else take pictures of food prices to text a parent/significant other/friend to ask if the price is reasonable? In case you were wondering, this price is cheap in my area! I was smart when I said no to the $3.14 cauliflower. Yes, 15 cents is 15 cents.

Thursday night I had big plans to make protein pancakes, but while I was prepping turkey and broccoli for Friday’s lunch/the weekend, I thought with all of the candy I’ve been eating, that this would be a healthier choice.. (even though the pancakes aren’t unhealthy). Well this meal totally disappointed me. Weekend Recap: Easter & Toasted Legs

Hi hi my friends! Are you all in a Easter candy coma today? I actually behaved yesterday, which I am 1) proud of myself 2) surprised with myself (fat kid for life!), and happy that I feel great today! Anytime I’m at a family event with my aunt’s infamous dessert mix, I 1) always binge on the entire bucket of mix, 2) feel awful and disgusting, and 3) get mad at myself for not having enough self-control to only have a little bit.

So yes, today I’m feeling fabulous, because I listened to my body being full from dinner and opted out of desserts.

My parents were actually gone for an ultra-long weekend to head to PA to spend the Easter weekend with my brother, Chels, and her parents. Since I couldn’t afford to take 2 days off from work (I’m super busy these days in my job), I stayed home with Kip.

Friday night was a lazy one over here. It included chicken stir-fry for dinner, an evening walk followed by basketball, and then several hours of Dexter. It was the perfect lazy Friday night!

Saturday

Saturday started with a cat and dog in my bed and no room to move. Since I couldn’t fall asleep until late on Friday, when my alarm went off at 7 am, I reset it to 8, and took advantage of an extra hour of sleep.

After taking care of animal duties, I downed 1/2 of a mini Laraba Uber Roasted Nut Roll, 1/3 of a Fuel for Fire, and headed out the door to go to the gym.

The workout was a run & leg day… basically a workout that would destroy my legs. I was aiming for 3-4 miles, really wanting the 4 miles, but by 3.6 miles, I was toast. The run felt so great though, and I think if the gym didn’t feel like a sauna, that I could’ve gotten 4+ miles in, but extreme heat can seriously screw you over! I decided to end the run and not be stubborn to get 4, and headed to the ladie’s gym to do legs. I left tired, starving and in dire need of a shower!

After a shower, I got started on cleaning the bathrooms, doing a load of laundry, and then got to town on deep cleaning the fridge. Anyone else find cleaning to be calming and a stress-reliever? Kip monitored me, making sure I didn’t miss a spot.

And for being a good supervisor, Kippy got a lot of frisbee time! Whyyyyy is there still snow?!

From about noon until 3:30 I continued on with cleaning, blog work, and other productive activities before it was time for an epic Trader Joe’s/Whole Foods trip!

Pancakes for dinner and finished Dexter. Like it’s over. All 8 seasons. The ending I cannot handle!

Sunday

After a good amount of sleep but still not feeling fully rested, I had 1/2 yogurt with 1/2 a banana before heading to the gym for a very lame workout.

After the “gym,” I took Kip for a 40 minute walk before showering, eating a tuna wrap, and checking out what the Easter bunny brought me. Good job Mr. Bunny!
