Weekend Recap: Trail Running, Friends, Family

Hello hello & happy Monday! It was a fabulous low-key weekend over in my neck of the woods, and it was much-needed!

My Friday night was pretty wild in that I worked until about 7ish… luckily the last part was from my couch, but still! We have a new member who is having their grand opening of their store this weekend, so I had to work with our ad agency in creating a few last-minute social posts. You can bet by the time I finished work and eating, that I parked my butt in bed and was out cold by 8:20 pm.

A super early Friday night bed time meant that I was up and roaring to go at 5 am on Saturday. I took my time getting ready for the gym and then got going. Sadly my tailbone started bothering me partway through my workout, so I focused on a total body workout. When it came to doing legs, I had to skip weighted squats/lunges, and just killed my legs with never-ending bodyweight squats, backwards lunges and side lunges. Work with what ya got girls!

Protein pancakes were definitely earned after that workout. With my favorite fall candle that the best Mom bought for me. She had it burning at her house the day before I left for the Bahamas, and when I returned from my trips, there was one sitting on the counter with my name on it. She’s held the Best Mom ranking since 1988, well 1985 if we count my brother.

After breakfast, I prepped a bunch of veggies for the weekend/week, cleaned my apartment, and then headed over to my parent’s to spend the afternoon with my Mom.. and do laundry! We ran a few errands, one of which included buying a blender and ingredients for Mom to make protein shakes! She asked me to teach her how to make them, so I brought over some of my sample protein packets, took her shopping, and showed her the way! Love that Mom is going to start incorporating protein shakes into her days! Ps, that blender is the best! $15 at Target, it’s super easy to clean, makes the perfect 1-serving shake, and can be tucked away so easily!

I did a bit of reading in my new favorite book— you MUST buy it… all of you, and we also watched a few of our shows together; Grey’s Anatomy & Nashville. I miss McDreamy!!

A little after 5 I headed home, and continued my lazy night on the couch binge watching White Collar and reading.

I slept from 8 pm until 7:30 am. Holy moly that’s a lot of sleep! I was extremely tired on Saturday, and when I woke up at 5 on Sunday, I said no to the gym and decided I would sleep until my body told me it was time to wake up.

Around 8 I dug into a bowl of oatmeal with maple syrup, and enjoyed it while watching an episode of White Collar. I then cooked some potatoes and ground turkey for the week, and then headed to Hooksett. I needed to return 2 library books, and since Head’s Pond is 2 minutes from the library, I stopped there to get a fun run in. I used my Garmin because I wanted to track my distance, but I didn’t care about my pace at all. I wasn’t excited about the run, but once I started, I was truly happy that I got out there. It was so nice to run being surrounded by beautiful scenery, and the run itself felt so easy. It made me really love running, and I think for the fall my prescribed 30 minute steady-state cardio session will be a weekend fall run!

I got home around 11, took a shower, ate a big bowl of ground turkey and sautéed butternut squash, started this blog post, and then headed out to spend the afternoon with my girl Lyndsay and baby Brynn. Lynds and I met at work almost 2 years ago, and we quickly became wonderful friends.

Yesterday’s outfit made me feel fabulously, amazingly badass, and I LOVED it!

After a day of shopping, I headed over to my parent’s to do dinner with them! My Dad BBQ for us, and I made the side of, take a guess, sautéed butternut squash. I am honestly going to turn orange from my addiction, but it’s just so good! I only add a little bit of pink sea salt to the butternut squash while I’m sautéing, and it gives it the perfect seasoning!

And my Mom is even more amazing because she not only bought me a new winter candle, but she also listened to me when I told her I loved this ranch seasoning on our Saturday shopping trip, and had a new bottle waiting for me Sunday night. My Dad also sent me home with enough chicken for the week. They are friggen wonderful and so amazing. image

And that is the recap of a great weekend!

Weekend Recap: BBQ, Beach Babes, and an Impulse Buy

Hey there! How was everybody’s weekend? What did you do? What did you eat? My weekend was a healthy mix of relaxing and fun, so I would say it was a success!

My Friday night was my ideal way to spend Friday. After work I went home and relaxed on my couch with an episode of White Collar while eating dinner, which was a tuna and sweet relish wrap.

A little after 6 I headed out to go grab a few items at the grocery store so that I could eat healthy over the weekend. There is a Sports Authority right at the set of lights near my complex, so I just decided to drive straight into their parking lot instead of turning right for the grocery store. All I had planned on doing was browsing the Nikes…. ugh. I found  a pair of boy’s Nike shoes that were on sale for $54. I accidentally bought them. Opps. In my justification my Asics are ripping, and I would love a shoe that works well for both HIIT and lifting, and for $54, I couldn’t say no.

After my unexpected purchase, I grabbed a few groceries, and then broke in my shoes around my apartment. I watched more White Collar and read more of my book before calling it a night and falling asleep just shy of 9 pm.

Legggggg day kids! I was up at 6 am and at the gym ready to workout at 6:40 am. I absolutely love early mornings at the gym. Most of the town is still sleeping and I get the place to myself!

I got back to my apartment around 8:30, and I spent the next few hours getting fresh, cleaning my place, and prepping a few meals before I headed out to run a few errands.

Early afternoon and evening was spent having a BBQ with my Mom’s side of the family!

I lost the one game I played of corn hole. I spent the rest of the time observing and relaxing.

I found Nessie and made her love me. I found about 10 pictures on my phone of pretty much the same thing. Most of the images she was struggling to get away from my need for love.image

The food. WAS SO GOOD. I picked out the watermelon from the fruit salad because I’m a brat. The chicken and that salad = amazing! I then filled an entire plate with fruit salad, and this time I didn’t pick out just the watermelon.

Up at 5:30 to hit the gym before a beach day with my girls. Waking up this early on the weekends is really easy when I go to bed by 9ish. I really love this routine that I have going. It was literally just me and these 3 other guys. Sure I could sleep in, but having the gym to myself… ahhhh it’s just so nice! 25 minute shake-out run after leg day, followed by back and biceps. I had to cut my workout just a few sets short so I could hit the beach!

Lindsay, Nicole and I went to Wallis Sands in Rye, NH, which is the town that I dream of moving to. It reminds me of a charming North Carolina country town would look like.

Beached from 9:30 until 3 pm. Plenty of sun, girl time and reading.

Eat, Pray, Love, the book I checked out over 2 month ago from the library that I lost for a solid month was found in my Mom’s car jammed between the seat and center console….. I really don’t remember being in my Mom’s car, let alone with my book, so that’s one of life’s mysteries… but I’m just glad that I don’t have to pay a “lost book” few!

Nothing felt better than showering off 21 layers of sunscreen. I plopped on my couch afterwards with a PEScience peanut butter protein shake and a hamburger bun with melted peanut butter. This hit the spot.

At 5:30 I got cuddled up on my couch to finish Eat, Pray, Love, before ending the night with an episode of White Collar. Asleep by 8:30 because the sun just kills you!

Did you go to the beach this weekend?

Melted peanut butter on regular bread, or peanut butter on toasted bread?

There is a difference 🙂

A Weekend of Love… Like Real Love But Also Ice Cream Love

Fun. That’s what this weekend was full of. Tired. That’s how this weekend left me feeling. In between workouts, early mornings, a day celebrating love and everything in between, my weekend flew by in the flash of the eye.

My weekend started at 2 on Friday when our CEO informed us that the “parking lot was melting” so we had to leave work and go home. He does this once a summer where he will randomly just close the office early. Love this man!

I spent my Friday afternoon running errands, prepping food, doing my nails and then ended the night with vanilla soft-serve with rainbow jimmies. Hit the spot!

I had trouble sleeping Friday night because of a killer headache, so when my alarm went off at 6 am, I was beat. I also knew that the workout had to get done since I was going to be out all day and night Saturday. I got to the gym around 6:35 and had a killer leg workout! Leg days are quickly becoming my favorite body part to train.

I was finished my workout around 8, and headed home to shower, eat and get ready for a girl’s day! Lindsay and I were on the road just after 10, where we made the 2 hour trek up to North Conway, NH for Lauren’s bridal shower. Lauren was one of our roommates in college, and she is the first of us to get married!

The shower was in her parent’s backyard, and it was just the perfect day for it. Four roomies minus Michelle. {Nicole, Lindsay, Lauren & I}

Lauren met Joel right after college, so we didn’t have the pleasure of knowing him throughout our years of living together, but they simply make the perfect couple. You can tell how much they love each other, and it really is a beautiful thing to see.

Love my girls! image

The shower was an absolute blast, and around 5 we hit the road to head home. Linds and I had such a blast jamming out to girl music and brainstorming ideas and places of where people meet significant others that does not include online dating. We were baffled haha.

I didn’t get home until a little after 8, and boy was I wiped out! I got out of my wedges as quickly as I could and dug into dinner. I spent the next hour or so unwinding, before falling asleep before 10.

Gasppp!!! I slept in until 8:35 am, which was the first time I’ve done that in a long, long time. My body clearly needed the rest, especially after surviving Saturday’s busy day on 4 hours of sleep! I had wanted to go down to Cape Cod to visit my brother, but after he told me that driving all of that in one day would be tiring, I told him that I would make a long weekend to him and Chelsey in PA.

So, I slept in. Spent a few hours doing some work from my couch, meal prepped, ran a few errands, and then went on a walking adventure.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?

4th of July Weekend Recap

Ohhhhh what a glorious long weekend it was! The extra day off on Friday was so needed and I feel like my batteries and mind are completely recharged and refreshed. Let’s jump into the weekend!

Woke up early for a total body workout, before heading to the beach for a girl’s day with Mom at Jenness Beach in Rye, NH.

We had such a blast and it was so nice to get away with Mom for the day. Block Island Organics in Block Island, RI sent me a tube of their sunscreen to stay safe during my summer beach trips. Love this sunscreen! It was light, easy to apply and smelled so good!

We spent a solid 5 hours at the beach, and once we made it back home, I headed out to run a few errands before girl’s night with Nichole. We saw and highly recommend seeing Magic Mike XXL. We d-i-e-d! Joe Manganiello, please marry me and not Sofia.

My Saturday started out like my usual long run ritual. Peanut butter oatmeal on the couch while watching tv and waking up.

I had no motivation to run outside since I figured hills wouldn’t be kind to my knee, so I headed to the gym to attempt the run. At 4 miles I was beyond dead. The humidity in the gym made me want to crumple over and dry heave.I should have hit at least 7 miles, but I refused to at the expense of my pride at the gym. I finished my workout with a mini shoulder workout and then headed back home so I could get ready for the 4th of July with my girls.

We spent the entire day talking and laughing about everything. It was a much-needed day. Love Lindsay & Nichole!

After girl’s day I had some time to kill so I popped into Home Goods and hit a home run with new decor for my apartment. THIS FRIDAY I MOVE! YES!!! 🙂

Ended the 4th with a big tub of fresh watermelon.

Up at the bright and early hour of 7 am. Early morning workouts on Sunday are my favorite thing ever! Usually the gym is always so quiet around 8 when I get there, so it’s really nice to have almost the entire place to myself.

I did a 5 minute warm-up walk, 5 minute warm-up run, 15 minutes of HIIT, and a 5 minute cool down run. After that, I completed a rigorous leg workout, and ended it with 15 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical and solid stretching. I felt absolutely amazing!

On my way home from the gym on Sundays I always stop at the grocery store to pick up essentials for the week. I grabbed a big case of chicken, veggies and rice, and headed home to immediately start prepping the chicken. I enjoyed a strawberry protein shake while grilling a good amount of chicken on the George Foreman grill. Grilled chicken > baked chicken. I always cook them in bite sized pieces so that I don’t need to cut chicken at work and because it cooks quicker. 🙂image

I ate some more. Cleaned. Blogged. Ran more errands. Enjoyed a Sunday Funday out on Murphy’s Deck with good company. 🙂

Did you watch the fireworks?

I heard them but didn’t see any! I was cuddled up in bed with a good book while all of the fireworks in my neighborhood were going off.

What was the top moments from your weekend?

Beach day with Mom, girl time & everything about Sunday

This Was What Happened Over The Weekend

Before the work day ended on Friday, I was already in need of the couch/bed/food. Once I made it home I immediately made dinner, which were protein donuts… in honor of National Donut Day. I would have loved to have a real chocolate glazed donut, but I somehow never made it to a donut shop. #Fail.

After eating, I headed about 35 minutes south to pick up my maid-of-honor dress at David’s Bridal!

I had loose plans to hit up our outlets after picking up my dress, but when I neared the outlets around 7:30, I was getting tired. I headed home, whipped up dessert, and crawled into bed for a few hours of The Big Bang Theory. A semi-early night of 10 pm was ideal since I had my “long run” planned for Saturday morning.

As usual, I woke around 8 am on Saturday, and proceeded my pre-run ritual. I immediately whip up a bowl of oatmeal with 1 egg white and top it with maple syrup. Since the runs are progressively getting longer, I wanted extra staying power, so I added 1 tbsp of peanut butter and chose blueberry syrup. It was s.o. good!

I eat my oatmeal while watching The Big Bang Theory. I typically watch until 9:30, giving my breakfast plenty of time to digest. Then, I get my fuel belt loaded with essentials, fill my bottles up, do a little bit of dynamic stretching and hit the road around 10 am.

This run called for 5-6 miles. I was aiming for 5.5 miles since the previous Saturday I completed 5. I want to gradual increase my distance and be smart about it. I don’t need to be a hero and always aim for the longest distance on the plan. No need to injure myself this early on!

Last Saturday’s run was the best I’ve ever felt and ran, and this run I felt a little tired, but my body just kept moving. By mile 3 I hit a big hill. The hill is split in half by a road running parallel, so I typically always run up half of it and walk the 2nd half. I used this point where I first stopped running to suck down 1/2 of a watermelon GU packet. Give my legs a 1 minute run break while fueling up for the 2nd half… that’s how you multi-task!

The fuel was key! I immediately felt a lot better… not that I was struggling, but I didn’t want to run into an issue where my energy was low because I didn’t have any fuel. The timing of taking it at 3 miles worked well for me on this run. I kept at it and at mile 4.5 I stopped to take this picture, and then kept on trucking along for a total of 6 miles. I didn’t stop at 5.5 because I knew I had another half mile in me. Listen to your body.

This run made me feel extremely confident for my 5 mile race I have in 2 weeks and seriously cannot wait to see how I continue to improve!

After my run, I stretched, showered, ate, and cleaned the house before heading out for several hours of errands. I purchased several new pairs of running shorts, groceries, self-tanner (say no to cancer), and a few other things, before getting home a little before dinner time. Read on the grass until I got annoyed with the bugs crawling on me.

I enjoyed a BBQ with the parents before crashing early. I feel like when my runs get a lot longer I will be asleep by 5 pm.

Up at 7:30 and at the gym for 8. A light cardio warm-up before putting myself through a heavy leg and shoulder workout. I went heavy on the weight and low with the reps and really felt it! The gym was so quiet and I felt extra motivated, so I really enjoyed taking my time and didn’t cut my workout short one bit. I think I left around 9:40, which meant I really had a great workout!

Once I was clean, full of food and prepped food for the week, I headed out for an oil change and a little shopping downtown at Runner’s Alley and was informed of an Intermediate Training group that I am considering joining!

I had a credit on my account and a gift card, which I put to good use. I still have $21 left on the gift card so I’ll hopefully buy more fuel and clothing the next time I stop in. LOVE this new long-sleeve shirt. So comfy, so pretty!  NH pride!

It was then on to Lindsay’s for 3 hours of girl talk out back on her deck. So much laughing. Love girl time with my gyps.imageThe rest of my evening was spent getting food ready for the week, blogging, and watching The Big Bang Theory.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Weekend Recap: Girl Time, Hiking, Mother’s Day & The Beach

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous Mother either celebrating with your kids or with your Mom! My weekend was jam packed full of everything under the sun!

Friday night was girl’s night with Lindsay, and it was probably one of my favorite girl’s nights ever. We started our evening by cozying up under blankets and sitting on her back deck just chatting the night away. We were talking about dating, old relationships, and just laughing out loud over guys and life events. Once we had turned into icicles, we headed inside, where Lindsay read my cards. They were SPOT on, and super positive! Linds had the best playlist for us all focused on being treated right and girl power. Yea!

Going outside to get service to text someone and super-long Franklin is scolding me.

Saturday morning started off super lazy. After a late Friday night, it felt good to sleep in and wake up when my body wanted to. Saturday was going to be a rest day, and Lindsay and I were supposed to spend the day at the beach, but the weather wasn’t warm enough. Instead, we decided to be active and go hike a mountain. I made THE best double chocolate chip protein donuts to fill me up for the hike. {Recipe tomorrow!}

Divas before the hike destroyed our legs. Where are the mountain men? #TourDeSingle

We were all smiles until we saw this… for the entire hike up.Mt-MonadnockWe even found ice up on Mt. Monadnock! An older gentleman told me I wasn’t hard to miss in my bright pink shirt.

We think we made it to the top, but we aren’t really sure. We decided this was “top” enough regardless, and made the trek back down. The hike was a lot of fun, but boy, our legs sure were sore by the time that we finished! All in all, it was a fun girl’s day with Lindsay!

After the hike, I showered, ate dinner, and then went out downtown for a few drinks with someone new. It’s always so nerve-wrecking meeting someone new because all you pray for is that they aren’t some strange weirdo who doesn’t look anything like their pictures. I will just say that I had a blast, and those 4 hours spent talking outside with deliciousssss blueberry beer went by way too quickly!

By the time I made it home Saturday night, it was close to midnight, which made me one tired girl come Sunday morning! I debated on a rest day just from being so tired, but I got up, and I’m so glad that I did. I hammered out 4 really easy miles while running the course of New Zealand. These treadmills make runs go by a lot quicker!

After my run, it was time for a quick shower, breakfast, and then it was off to York Beach for Mother’s Day!

Kip played 500 rounds of frisbee, all while being the most behaved pup on the beach!

Kip met a dog that was 200 times the size of him. Ps..#HottieOfYorkBeach

Happy Mother’s Day to the best mother I know! <3mom

The rest of our day was spent popping into a few stores, grilling dinner and just spending time together. In bed at 7:30 and asleep before 9… the weekend was worth the early bedtime!

How did you celebrate Mother’s Day?

Have you ever had your cards read or gone to a psychic?

Family, Babies, Best Friends, Froyo and Fun

Hi my friends and happy Marathon Monday! I am so excited for all of the awesome runners that are getting out there and chasing their dreams and goals today on the course in beautiful Boston! I am especially excited to follow along some of my absolute favorite bloggers who will be running the course today { hi Janae, Tina, Kristin & Sarah!}

While I’m stuck at work following along, next year I absolutely plan on being on the side of the course cheering everyone on!

Enough marathon chatter, let’s move on to my fun-filled weekend! Friday night was an awesome family night. Ryan and Chelsey were home for the weekend so we started with a big grilled dinner and followed it up with game night… Pictionary!

Since I had a busy Saturday planned, I ended up headed to bed a little after 10 in order to get enough sleep. I was up a few minutes after 7 and headed straight to the gym to tackle a run. I had planned for 3-4, but because of cramps, I settled on a 2 mile run and abs. It was awful, but hey, workouts or runs can’t always be awesome.

It was then home to shower and eat, before heading a little over an hour away to my girl Lyndsay’s baby shower. I know Lyndsay from work, and absolutely love her, and the shower itself was just absolutely precious.
imageI didn’t know a single soul at the shower, so of course I was awkward turtle, but I made the best of it!

imageMy favorite were the M&MS, which I saved for Saturday night while watching House Hunters Boston!

image4 1/2 weeks until Baby Brynn arrives! My gorgeous gorgeous preggo friend.imageAfter the shower, I headed home, returned a pair of shoes at the outlets that I drove by, and made it home around 4:30. My original evening plans ended up changing, so Ryan and Chelsey asked if I would go to a BBQ with them. I was game!… especially since I love the couple we were going to spend the evening with. Middle school friends! It was so great spending the evening with an awesome group, and I miss it already!

image Once we got back home, we all huddled up on the couch where we snacked and watched House Hunters… a favorite! Around 10:30 I went up to bed since I knew I had a very busy Sunday lined up. I chose sleeping in instead of a workout, and got up around 8, showered, ate & browsed the flyers, and was out the door.

I headed down to Massachusetts to go on a walk/hike at Blue Hills Reservation with someone from my college years. We hiked up the little mountain obtrusion through the woods, and grabbed a seat at a rock right near the top of the chair lifts. Even though the picture doesn’t show it, the view was absolutely gorgeous! We ended up walking down the actual ski slope and I’m just lucky neither of us took a tumble!

blue-hills-reservationAfter the walk, I drove back to NH for a girl’s day with my best friend Lindsay. We started by heading into downtown Concord to try out Orange Leaf. We both got the Reese’s froyo (OMG) and cookies & cream froyo, and I topped mine with all things dessert.froyo

Birthday froyo! With full bellies, we walked over to Marshall’s to browse, before moving on to Target for a few essentials. It felt like college again shopping for living necessities! froyo

After our shopping, we headed back to Lindsay’s condo, where we played with her new kitten Lola, and had LOTS of girl talk. We literally talked nonstop for about 3 1/2 hours, and it was just so nice!

Look at how tiny this little girl is!kitty-lolaI didn’t get home until 7:30, and was so exhausted! I had been gone from 9:30 am until 7:30 pm, and all I wanted to do was crawl into bed. It was such a tiring weekend, but also so much fun!

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Did you go hiking this weekend?

My Last Relaxing Weekend

This weekend was the last one for the next few weeks that I have free, so my goal of the weekend was to have no plans, take it easy, and take it hour by hour. Somehow I still managed to be a busy little bee!

Friday started with an exciting delivery, well, exciting to someone who works out. Love this lilac bush outside the living room window. Nothing better than relaxing on the couch after work with the fresh scent of lilacs coming into the room. 🙂

Last week I finished season 2 of Chicago Fire, so I headed to Target after work to buy season 1. Can’t beat a $15 sale! I had planned to watch it in bed, but my dvd player wouldn’t work, and with no man to save me, I got lazy and went to bed.

Up and at em around 7, where I headed to the gym for a quick HIIT run. 1 mile warm-up, followed by 1.5 miles of sprint intervals! Felt SO good!

After the run, I had to head over to our CrossFit box for a competition meeting. SOOOO many awesome and BIG things coming to the box and my training, that I’m truly esctatic for.

Once the meeting ended, I took my Mom out for a midday movie date to see The Other Woman. I saw the movie a few weekends ago with my friends, and I loved it so much, that I really wanted my Mom to see it. That, and we were due for a movie date. Mom LOVED the movie and agreed it was one to buy when it came out.

Immediately upon arriving home, I headed out to spend the afternoon with Lindsay. We headed downtown to grab a smoothie at Live Juice, and to walk and shop. I got the “Trip to the Tropics,” while Linds got the “Funky Monkey.” Mine was a pineapple overload, which was life changing! My new favorite.

IMG_8671After drinking and walking around, we headed to Marshall’s to browse around and so I could use a gift card I had. We both left with a dress and Michael Kors flip flops. I grabbed brown while Linds got royal blue! We are matching besties. 🙂

The rest of my night was spent watching Chicago Fire and relaxing. Oh the single life.

Another early morning for me, with a 3 mile walk in my neighborhood, before heading to my cousin’s CrossFit box for our last video shoot for FitGirl!

At our FitGirl shoot, our marketing guys shot some fun video of us being carefree and having fun, all while doing CrossFit moves. The partner carries were easily the funniest part of the video shoot.

After our shoot, 5 of us headed to El Rodeo Concord, a Mexican restaurant nearby, for a bite and drinks on the deck. I only ordered a tequila on the rocks, but had maybe 4 sips before I was over it. I think I’m over drinking for a bit. Haven’t had a drink in a bit, and I’m okay with that.

El Rodeo had the comfiest outdoor chairs, but they left the best seat imprints ever.

IMG_8703The rest of my Sunday was spent doing a bit of work creating a social media schedule for FitGirl and relaxing.

How was your weekend? Favorite part of it?

Glorious Little Weekend

This weekend. Guys. Amazing. That’s all I’m going to say.

Friday night was a lazy one. I pretty much just vegged  around, unpacked, watched a little TV and read. I had spent the past week with a cold, so I had wanted to get to bed early to rest up for Saturday’s CrossFit workout, 14.2, which is part of the Open. I didn’t get much sleep, because, hey, who can sleep when they don’t feel good?!

I was up way too early, but still managed to get to the CrossFit box late for the first workout heat. Mullets are appropriate workout attire.

The WOD was a ladder workout:

2 rds in minutes 1:00-3:00:

  • 10 overhead squats — I scaled and used 45# (lbs)
  • 10 chest-to-bar pull-ups — I scaled and used bands

**40 reps completed

If you finish before the 3 minute mark, you use the remainder of the time to rest.

2 rds in minutes 3:00-6:00:

  • 12 overhead squats
  • 12 chest-to-bar pull-ups

**37 reps completed

When you don’t finish your reps in the 3 minutes, your workout is done. You essentially keep going until the 18 minute mark, which would be 320 reps total.

After everyone completed the WOD, a handful of us just morphed into the floor and had story time while we sort of worked on mobility. From the lack of sleep all week, I finally hit my “wall,” and just became so exhausted that I was just “there.”

I had to quickly head home and get ready, because I had a girl’s afternoon with 2 of my best friends, Jenny and Lisha. Lisha and I have birthdays 2 days apart (mine Wednesday and hers on Friday), so we wanted to celebrate a bit.

We ended up going to Margarita’s for some food and talk. I wasn’t hungry since I had a late breakfast, so I just talked.IMG_6916

Both girls were stuffed, but when Jenny said she needed something sweet, I told her to get fro-yo on her way home. That turned into both girls wanting it, so I was dragged to the mall to join them. We passed a candy store, and HAD to wander in there. Pucker Powder to the face.

If I could marry food, it would be these items right here.

WHOLE cookies at Tutti Fruti?! AND I heard they had Girl Scout cookies too. This was SUCH torture for me.IMG_6909IMG_6913

I got a bowl of fruit. $3.22 what a joke! My heart cried while I ate this instead of fro-yo.

By the time I got home, I had just enough time to try on 10 different pairs of jeans, before putting my original jeans back on, changing tops, and heading out the door again for our CrossFit team dinner at Masa, a Japanese restaurant, where we dominated a table with about 18 of us. This poor couple had to join us, I felt so bad. You can see the girl in the below picture, far right. She must think we are nut jobs. We are.

Sake shots all around. Alan was such a champ.IMG_6924

They found out it’s almost my birthday and made me do a 2nd round of Sake. There were FOUR bottles to my face. My friends said there were four, but I only see three in this picture. They must have been drunk. This was after tequila on the rocks. I wanted to die.

Alan ate my birthday ice cream.

The after party brought us to a bar to play pool. At this point, my head was spinning and I debated if I should throw up in the bathroom, the bar, or the pool table. I chose to eat french fries that a few of us ordered, because Alan confirmed the fact that Jesus would forgive me for breaking Lent so that I wouldn’t vom. That, with a glass of water, and I was feeling like a champ again.

A mysterious substance ended up on Alan’s shoes, which means he went barefoot in the pool hall. He is also the one who wore a mullet earlier in the morning, so I really don’t know. He had 2 scorpion bowls and about an entire bottle of Sake shots, so there’s that too.

I woke up feeling like I had spent the night in hell, and based on everyone’s comments on several Facebook threads, the team felt the same way. The only thing I would have done differently is definitely not the drink, but these are my people, they bring happiness into my life, and I just simply I love them. It’s one big team romance.

Eventually, I headed to the gym and jogged 2 miles and walked close to 1 mile before I got insanely bored and headed out to grab groceries.

And the rest of the day was spent cooking, starting The Walking Dead, and having a Google Hangout with some awesome ladies for bachelorette planning.

Does Sake shots ever make you sick?

I wouldn’t have died if it weren’t for the Sake, but when it mixed with my drink, all hell broke loose.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

My friends, all of them. 🙂

Girls Trip to Vermont for Some Kippy Moore

This was one of the better long weekends I’ve had in a very long time. If you missed out on the first half of it, you can read the recap here.

The 2nd half of my weekend was just as fun and tiring.

On Sunday morning, after a rough 3.7 mile run in the sticky heat, Lindsay and I took off for a road trip to Burlington and Essex Jct., VT.

Not before a truck slammed on his brakes at a yellow light and made me slam on mine, resulting in this. Seriously though, this was 2 minutes into my drive. The cooler contents spilled every where, and I had to pick ice out of every possible place.

Luckily, the next 2 1/2 hours flew by without any problems arising.

Once we arrived in Essex Jct., I gave Lindsay a little tour around the town. I lived in Essex Jct., from the age 6-12, so it was fun showing Lindsay my neighborhood, the downtown area, and the schools I went to. We were joking about how it felt like the hometown date on The Bachelor.

Our next stop was downtown Burlington, more specifically, Church Street. We had roughly an hour and a half to kill, so we walked Church St for a bit, going in and out of stores.

After sweating our faces off, we hopped in the car and drove a few blocks down to the waterfront and took several pictures around Lake Champlain.IMG_2220 IMG_2221

It was SO gorgeous down at the lake, and it really made me miss living in the area and having this right near by.

A lovely lady took a picture of Linds and I in front of the dock. I’m a human highlighter.

When I asked Lindsay what I should do in my picture, a hottie walked by and told me to just stand there and smile. The thought of that made me feel awkward, so I just went with an awkward diva pose.

Around 5, we left Lake Champlain and headed back into Essex Jct., for the Champlain Valley Fair, which my family frequented every year that we lived there. Sadly, it was such a letdown and not as good as I remembered.

We had about an hour+ to kill before the real reason behind the trip, so we goofed around the fair, and I made Lindsay pose behind this cutout. I don’t know why she puts up with me. 🙂

Kip Moore and Toby Keith were playing an end of summer show at the fairgrounds. Kip rocked the stage for 55 minutes, and I fell in love with him even more than I had been. I’m not a fan of Toby Keith, so watching him perform was miserable. It didn’t help that I had an excruciating headache, but Lindsay was loving it, so I sucked it up… and then I was the girl playing on her phone during the last 1/3 of the concert. Hey, girls gotta do something to stay sane!

The drive home was miserable, and we got hit with random torrential downpours. We split the drive, and by the time I got home at 1 am, I was more than ready for bed.

I woke up with the same headache, and vegged on the couch for a bit before saying goodbye to Ryan and eventually heading to the gym.

I didn’t think I’d make it past a 1 mile run since I felt so nauseous, but I was stuck on the only free treadmill, which had a TV on the screen, and I got sucked into an episode of Castle, and I ended up running 4 miles and walking 1.25. I just couldn’t not finish the episode!

I finished up my workout with squats, forward and backward lunges, and several sets of skaters. Felt so good! I even wore my new shoes, which did wonders on my stability with those moves.

The rest of my day was spent unpacking, meal prepping, and having a movie evening with Mark. When I arrived, he had popcorn and 3 bags of candy lined up on the counter.  I did my duty of picking the red and yellow skittles out, otherwise I left the candy bowl to him. We watched Friends with Kids, which was our favorite, and then The Rebound, which was an easy pick for us since he loves Catherine Zeta Jones and I love Justin Bartha.

Mark and I are on a roll lately with good movie/TV picks, so please refer to us for any future movie recommendations you might need. Rainy movie days on the end of a long weekend are the perfect way to unwind!

How was your long weekend? Did you travel, go to fairs and eat fair food?

I have a big weigh in today with my coach so I avoided the fair food. Such willpower!
