Hi there friends, I hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day Weekend and are ready for a short work week! I know I sure am, as I have a girl’s weekend coming up and it cannot come soon enough!
My long weekend was a mix of productive and relaxing, so here’s a sneak peak into what I did!
Saturday morning started off with a run in the neighborhood. I want to boost my endurance so I started a couch to 10k program on my phone. I’m not looking to do a race, but since I’ve used this program in the past and know that it works, I decided to give it a shot to ease into running longer and faster.
Running in this neighborhood is my absolute favorite, and now that my focus is on saving to buy a house, I’m even more alert for ‘For Sale’ signs. 2 of my dream houses are in this neighborhood, so if either one of them would like to go on the market within the next year, that would be fabulous!
Lilacs, my favorite flower! This bush is right in front of my parent’s living room window, and it’s just the absolute best. I get to smell this all of the time now, well, for maybe a year or so. My lease was ending and because I want to buy a house, I actually just moved back in with my parents a few weekends ago. My goal is to enjoy summer and save up for the remainder of the year and then seriously begin the house hunt in the new year. It’s all so exciting!
When we lived in Vermont we had 2 blueberry bushes, which were absolutely amazing. Since living in NH the past 17 years, I have probably asked my Dad each year to plant blueberry bushes at their house and he always says no. I asked again this year, and here he is looking at them. Do you think he said yes?
After getting veggies to plant, I scarfed down a wrap before picking up Lindsay to go for a hike. Our first hiking spot required you to pay $4 per person, and because we didn’t have any cash on us, we decided to use the “AllTrails” app to find a new spot to hike. We found one right next to my Aunt & Uncles and gave it a shot. The mosquitoes were so bad that it made for a very annoying hike, in fact, I had extreme reactions to two bites and my elbow and wrist ended up being swollen for the next few days. Bites included, it was still a great time to walk and talk with my best girl.
Sunday was spent gardening. I don’t have any pictures to show for it, but it was go-go-go. To slow down a bit, I made a batch of Chocolate Covered Katie’s Zucchini Banana bread, but turned them into muffins since they are easier to transport and more portion-controlled. I had a small amount of mini chocolate chips, so I sprinkled them on top of half of the muffins for a sweeter choice.
Monday went undocumented on the picture front, but just know that it was an extra lazy day. I took Mom to see Snatched, and then spent the rest of the day in sweats reading and watching TV. That movie was THE best! Definitely go see it if you haven’t.
What was the highlight of your Memorial Day weekend?
