Ohhhhh what a glorious long weekend it was! The extra day off on Friday was so needed and I feel like my batteries and mind are completely recharged and refreshed. Let’s jump into the weekend!
Woke up early for a total body workout, before heading to the beach for a girl’s day with Mom at Jenness Beach in Rye, NH.
We had such a blast and it was so nice to get away with Mom for the day. Block Island Organics in Block Island, RI sent me a tube of their sunscreen to stay safe during my summer beach trips. Love this sunscreen! It was light, easy to apply and smelled so good!
We spent a solid 5 hours at the beach, and once we made it back home, I headed out to run a few errands before girl’s night with Nichole. We saw and highly recommend seeing Magic Mike XXL. We d-i-e-d! Joe Manganiello, please marry me and not Sofia.
My Saturday started out like my usual long run ritual. Peanut butter oatmeal on the couch while watching tv and waking up.
I had no motivation to run outside since I figured hills wouldn’t be kind to my knee, so I headed to the gym to attempt the run. At 4 miles I was beyond dead. The humidity in the gym made me want to crumple over and dry heave.I should have hit at least 7 miles, but I refused to at the expense of my pride at the gym. I finished my workout with a mini shoulder workout and then headed back home so I could get ready for the 4th of July with my girls.
After girl’s day I had some time to kill so I popped into Home Goods and hit a home run with new decor for my apartment. THIS FRIDAY I MOVE! YES!!! 🙂
Ended the 4th with a big tub of fresh watermelon.
Up at the bright and early hour of 7 am. Early morning workouts on Sunday are my favorite thing ever! Usually the gym is always so quiet around 8 when I get there, so it’s really nice to have almost the entire place to myself.
I did a 5 minute warm-up walk, 5 minute warm-up run, 15 minutes of HIIT, and a 5 minute cool down run. After that, I completed a rigorous leg workout, and ended it with 15 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical and solid stretching. I felt absolutely amazing!
On my way home from the gym on Sundays I always stop at the grocery store to pick up essentials for the week. I grabbed a big case of chicken, veggies and rice, and headed home to immediately start prepping the chicken. I enjoyed a strawberry protein shake while grilling a good amount of chicken on the George Foreman grill. Grilled chicken > baked chicken. I always cook them in bite sized pieces so that I don’t need to cut chicken at work and because it cooks quicker. 🙂
I ate some more. Cleaned. Blogged. Ran more errands. Enjoyed a Sunday Funday out on Murphy’s Deck with good company. 🙂
Did you watch the fireworks?
I heard them but didn’t see any! I was cuddled up in bed with a good book while all of the fireworks in my neighborhood were going off.
