Happy Monday and a happy late Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful Moms out there! I sure do love my Momma, and it was nice to be able to celebrate our Mom this weekend, even if the weather was less than optimal. My brother was home yesterday from Nashville which was such a nice treat. We hadn’t seen him since Christmas, so it was long overdue. My Mom was in child heaven!
I love my Mom. Each day and every year we get closer and closer, and she is more than a Mom, she is my best friend. I love spending days with my Mom, and honestly, some of my favorite weekends are spent with her, either shopping, getting pedis, or just having Hallmark movie marathons. I think a lot of kids don’t think it’s cool to hang out with their parents, but my parents are THE coolest, and they are both my best friends. How blessed am I that I have parents that I WANT to spend time with? Yesterday my Mom showed me just how special of a Mom she is. After taking a picture with my brother and Mom, I looked at the pictures and felt sad. I didn’t recognize myself in the pictures, and it just made me feel absolutely defeated. I shut down, became quiet, and just curled up on the couch. Afterwards, my Mom hugged me and I lost it. Crying in her arms, she told me that I was perfect. Moms love unconditionally, and I am so thankful for my Mom and all that she does for our family. She is always there to lift me up when I’m down, and to applaud me when I’m at my highest. She IS the best.
I really don’t have much to recap from this weekend, and I have practically zero photos to show from it. My weekend did start off on the right foot on Friday when my marketing team had an ice cream social. The old me probably wouldn’t have had this, but I enjoyed every bite with zero guilt, and that alone is progress!
I’m very happy with how I ate over the weekend, and I don’t think that I really overate at any point. I did my best to listen to my body and how I was feeling. I tend to get extremely exhausted when I don’t eat enough, and I experienced that on Sunday, even though I didn’t feel hungry. Usually I get pretty drained when I haven’t eaten enough fat during the day, I snacked on a Quest bar, and then shortly after crackers and peanut butter. It gave me energy for a bit, but then I still felt pretty tired shortly after, so maybe my body was just tired?
Other weekend eats included yogurt with Larabar for breakfast and snacks. This is my current obsession! This one had a Cashew Cookie LARABAR crumbled up in it.
My Mom requested the best meal for Mother’s Day dinner. Steak tips, chicken, and grilled shrimp from Tuckaway. So good. Okay, I probably overate the steak, but it’s seriously so hard not to!
After dinner, Mom opened gifts, and then we settled in to watch A Dog’s Purpose. I balled my eyes out. This was such a good movie, but my gosh, be prepared to cry. If I wasn’t with my parents and brother, I would have sobbed in hysterics, but really, I thought I was going to puke from crying so much! Pets are the best, and this movie made me just want to snuggle up to our fur babies for a living.
And that’s a wrap! I’m writing this post this morning, and with it being 7:57 am, it’s time to get this scheduled and start to plug away at the work day! I hope you all had a great weekend celebrating your Mom and being spoiled by your kids!
What are your Mother’s Day traditions?
We typically just spend the day as a family. If it’s nice out, we like to go for a scenic drive, but this year it was pouring!
