So That’s What Treadmill Handlebars Are For

Today is one of those days where I just want to go across the street and grab the bottle of Skinnygirl Margarita from my trunk and just chug the entire thing in 3.5 seconds.

I’ve felt like a zombie all damn day long, but that’s probably because I took 2 melatonin tablets last night and then my muscle relaxer this am, which causes drowsiness. Plus I set my alarm for 5:05 this am, but snoozed the shit out of it and still managed to get up at my normal time. Well that one was a total fail.

Good news is that my oblique is feeling a lot better today and my shoulder pain is dunzo. Bad news is that my doctor called this afternoon and told me to expect it to take 6-8 weeks for my oblique muscles to be healed.

Shit’s about to go down! Literally, my 2 pack and 4 pack in progress is gonna be caput!

This morning I was able to run 2 miles and walk 2 as well. Althought I did .5 mile increments with each for the first 2 miles, and then .25 segments. The entire 2 miles that I ran required me to hold on to the treadmill handlebars on the side, since this helped take away the pounding of running on my obliques. Seriously, I never really realized how important your obliques are for a quality run.

And if you were wondering, those side handlebars on the treadmill were made for runners like me who are too stubborn to not run and who choose to run idiotically throug h pain in order to continue their running streak. 😉 Learn something new errrrday!

Also during my lunch break, I was able to get a little elliptical action in without any pain, completed several shoulder and arm exercises, and then finished up with a 10 minute ride on the spinning bike (pain free)!

Even with an injury, it is still possible to stay active and keep fit, the key is choosing the proper exercises and equipment. For instance, with my shoulder and arm exercises, I have chosen to use the machines, as they offer assistance and a smooth movement, whereas using dumbbells and barbells can throw you off balance, which could result in some funky core action.

1

My new go-to workout solution is a little Tiger Balm on the right obliques and right shoulder, followed up by a glass of C4 pre-workout powder and I’m ready to show this injury who’s boss! The Tiger Balm also doubles as a great perfume, as my coworker made a comment about how pungett that shit is!

To end this post, I have a serious question to ask all of you guys. Seriously, I mean it, and you better say yes. I know some of you have significant others and husbands, but regardless of your relationship status, will you guys be my Valentine? So, that’s a yes right?

I hate Valentine’s Day, mainly because I’m always single for it, and instead of bashing it this year, I was hoping we could all share the love with one another. For the 4th straight year, I’m Valentineless, and could reallllly use some blogging love next Thursday. Especially since the day before Valentine’s Day is Ash Wednesday, and well I’m giving up sweets so I can’t even drown my single lady sorrows in chocolate. 🙁

However, the good thing about being single on Valentine’s Day is that I get to buy myself something. Last year I bought myself new running shoes, but this year, since my running is drastically cut back because of my oblique, I’m buying these new training shoes!

2

I think I’m actually looking forward to Valentine’s Day now! 😉

Overcoming Fears

This morning when I turned the light on in my bedroom I found a bloody tissue chilling on the floor. I never have bloody noses so I was a little worried, especially because the tissue appeared to be soaked in blood. My pillow cases or clothing weren’t stained either and there were no blood stains on my face.

Turns out, every damn time I blow my nose, blood comes out. Seriously. Every. Damn. Time. Rumor has it, it’s due to the dry air, but it’s getting old, especially since yesterday I woke up with an awful headache from blowing my nose.

All I know is that this cold better find the exit door as soon as possible. This sucker has drained me for the past week!

I managed to squeak out a 3.5 mile run, in between having to stop and blow my bloody nose roughly every half mile. Talk about annoying! I wasn’t feeling an extreme core workout either. I more so did what I felt like doing and what I had time to do. I blame it on Jake and Kip for distracting me. Sometimes you just want to smoosh your dog’s face in and shower your kitty with kisses. I’m not sorry.

Morning Workout

• 3.5 bloody miles
• 2 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 50 heel touchers
• 30 toe touches
• 50 side crunches, each side
• 1 minute plank hold
• 2 sets of 20 plank knee tucks
• Stretching

In my quest to consume more calories (the horror!), I found it to be a good sign that I was hungry an hour earlier than usual, and I went for my Raspberry Mango Overnight Oats. To be honest, late last night I was contemplating not bring my oats in for breakfast today because of the high calorie content that I shockingly became aware of on Friday.

20121119-151957.jpg
Needless to say, I ate it anyways, mainly because since I have my first session with my personal trainer tonight, I wanted to make sure I was properly fueled. What better way than to enjoy a big breakfast. As I’m typing this at 3 pm, I’m already at 1,127, with my goal being between 1,200 and 1,550. I’m nervous and truly hoping I don’t go over that. Honestly, how the hell have I consumed that much already?!

Before hitting the gym, I snacked on a Fuji apple and trail mix that I made with almonds and raisins.

20121119-152021.jpg
Raisins, yum! I’m that weirdo who picks all the raisins out of trail mix to eat first because they are so damn addicting. If someone bought me a big tub of raisins for Christmas I’d probably give it the best present award. All seriousness. They’re that good. In fact, give me YOUR raisins.

My main goal for my lunch time workout was to get a sweat without getting intense. With my uptake in calories, I wanted to make sure I got a chunk of cardio in while not overdoing it for training tonight.

Mission accomplished. I warmed up for a quarter of a mile, ran a mile and a half, and walked at an increased speed at my fat burning heart rate for another quarter of a mile. I attempted the elliptical, but my burning legs told me I was harming them, so I jumped back on the treadmill to finish my workout with a quarter of a mile walk.

Felt amazing and I worked up an appetite. AGAIN. This time, I went for leftover grilled chicken from Saturday; sugar snap peas that I forget I picked up at Trader Joe’s 2 weekends ago, and roasted sweet potato chunks that I prepared last night.

20121119-152118.jpg
So good! I saved about half of the chicken and one sweet potato chunk (yes 1) to eat before training tonight.

In regards to my first session of personal training tonight, I’m nervous! My appointment is at 5:30, which is one of THE busiest times at my gym. I’m more nervous to do exercises that I’m not used to in front of everyone. Now, I know that most people are zeroed in on their workout and won’t be watching me, but come on; we all know the gym is a great spot for people watching. I’ve been that girl who watches people workout while running or as a means to pass time on the elliptical.

What I’m telling myself to build my confidence is that months ago I was terrified of joining this gym because everyone is so intensely dedicated to being fit there, but I sucked it up and fell in love. The 2nd and 3rd thing is, I only have to do this with a trainer once a week, AND I’m bound to get in the best shape of my life.

Sometimes, you just have to suck it up, put on your big girl sports bra, and get out of your comfort zone to earn the results you crave.

Sexiest Man Alive and a Broccoli Overload

Mark this as VERY IMPORTANT:

People Magazine announced the Sexiest Man Alive late this morning and I am not pleased.

Okay, fine. Channing Tatum does look MARVELOUS in that beater, and tweed pants and freckled shoulders ensemble he’s rocking. I’ll give him that. I like Channing when he’s trim, but beefy Channing is not a sexy Channing. Sure, sure he stole my heart in The Vow, well by the end of the movie he did, but, Sexiest Man Alive? Nope. Not even close.

Oh hey, baby. Now THAT’S more like it. Gimme a piece of McDreamy! 😉 Sexiest Man Alive right there ladies and gentlemen. Don’t argue, you won’t win.

In all seriousness, who do you think should have taken the Sexiest Man Alive title?

Ever year I petition for Patrick Dempsey and every year I lose. That’s okay, he holds the title in my heart. Seriously though, hands off, he’s mine.

***

Last night my appetite magically disappeared. By disappeared, I mean that after work, dinner consisted of a handful of Special K crackers and 1 White Choco-Chip Butternut Square. Yes, only 1. That’s all I ate from 5:30 pm until 10:30 am. No rumbling belly, no junk food craving. A spoonful of peanut butter wasn’t even appealing to me.

I typically get cravings for an entire jar of peanut butter when I’m full and still go after it anyways because I’m a fatty I treat myself. 😉

Nothing!

Woke up once during the middle of the night, had to go downstairs for something, walked by the kitchen and cabinets and the plate full of squares, and didn’t even have the slightest craving for anything.

The world MUST be ending. I’m telling you there are some weird things going on!

My workout was kick ass and I loved the burn I got from my core workout. That was easily the All-Star of today’s workout.

Wednesday’s Workout

  • 5 mile run
  • 4 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 1 minute plank and 30 second side plank holds
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 2 sets of 50 heel touchers
  • 50  vertical toe touches
  • 150 crunches: 50 regular, left and right
  • 100’s Abs
  • 20 minutes interval on vertical elliptical
  • Stretching

I call this one my 50’s workout. 🙂

Kip even helped me with my stretching and foam rolling. That boy does NOT look amused. That or he’s just sad that he knows I’ll be leaving for work soon. 🙁

Breakfast included a little twist on my usual Raspberry Mango Overnight Oats. This morning, I opened my snack drawer to see if I could throw more in the bowl and was pleased when my PB2 and flax-seed were looking right at me.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. This was pure heaven in my mouth. I wasn’t even that hungry but I still demolished this sucker in minutes. I just love my Chobani powerbowls!

After my afternoon workout, I still wasn’t hungry at all, but I knew that I had to eat something otherwise my workout would have been a waste if I didn’t properly nourish it. I’ve been neglecting my vegetables lately (shush I know) so I redeemed myself and enjoyed a plate full of veggies and several turkey roll-ups.

3/4 of my plate is broccoli. Holy Moses, I’m gonna be seeing green later, and I don’t mean the dollar bills either!

Tonight after work I have to make a pit-stop at my favorite store ever, Target for glitter nail polish a few beauty essentials, and then I’ll be tearing it up with my man, Tony Horton!

Laters baby. 😉

Day 30 P90X Results

Well guys, yesterday was Day 30 on the P90X challenge, and I have to say, I am LOVING my results. My arms and shoulders are more defined, my stomach is tighter and more toned, and my thighs are also slimming up!

20121113-113336.jpg
I actually don’t think I’ve lost any weight besides the random pound or 2, but I’m happy to be toning up all over. While I am confident in my skin and love the body I have now, I still have a long ways to go to get to where I want my body to be physically.

**

Last night I went to Allie & Kris’ apartment to relax with them for a bit. To be honest, I wasn’t feeling good at all and my exhaustion begged me to stay home, but because we keep rescheduling, I felt bad if we had to push back hanging out again!

When I got there they were just cleaning up from the gym and getting dinner ready. Since I completed Back & Biceps before heading over, I fed my muscles with a Peanut Butter Strawberry Banana protein shake for my dinner.

20121113-113407.jpg
We chatted about everything and nothing before cozying up on the couch to watch last weeks’ episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Allie and I used to watch Grey’s every Thursday together ever since the very first season, so it was a lot of fun to continue our tradition that we’ve had for years and years.

20121113-113531.jpg
Allie’s my person. We’ve been quoting that line to each other every since Meredith and Christina said it to one another. I love that girl to death. 🙂

Tuesday

This morning I woke up feeling like death. Extreme sore throat and an achy body… with tight calves. Ouchies!

I wasn’t feeling a workout, but I knew I’d feel better after. Or so I thought.

I knew 4 miles was going to be impossible with how tight my calves were. I meant to foam roll them last night but I just remembered now that I was supposed to do that. Opps!

I took it easy with my workout and told myself that I can run as slow as I need to as long as I’m moving.

Morning Workout

• 3.6 mile run
• 3 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 1 minute plank hold
• 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
• 100’s Abs
• Stretching & foam rolling… finally!

I haven’t had too big of an appetite yet today, but I did enjoy roughly 2/3 of my Raspberry Mango Overnight Oats just to get something into my stomach.

20121113-113640.jpg
I think I put a little too many chia seeds. Good thing they’re healthy! 😉

Hope everyone is having a healthier Tuesday than I am. Please send me Vitamin C and healthy air hugs. Thanks! 🙂

Cat Food for Lunch

While some of you readers have the day off due to Veterans Day, I’m overtired in the office. If your boss was cool enough to give you the day off, please remember why you have the day off. I’m sure most of you had a relative or friend who has served to protect our freedom and it is especially important not to forget what they sacrificed for us.

I’m so thankful to both of my grandpas, my cousins and also friends who have served our country. I currently have a great college friend who is currently in Afghanistan and am anxious to have him back in 21 days!

Thank you to all of our heroes!

This morning started off with a meowing cat jamming his head into mine while I attempted to wash my face and “wake up” before my run. That boy seriously needs to wait his turn. He likes to lick the faucet and play in the water-filled sink, which is pretty weird since he used to hate getting even a drop of water on his fur. That boy is high-maintenance.

My morning run felt good, and I was pleased to bust out a good 4-miler. After my run I did roughly 10 minutes of core work, and I even beat Friday’s plank time trial. I went from a 1:35 plank hold to a 1:50 plank hold this morning. That’s the best improvement I’ve had since starting Tina’s 4-Week Plank Challenge.

Gotta celebrate those gains!

Morning Workout

• 4 mile run
• 4 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 1:50 plank hold
• 100s Abs
• 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
• 50 crunches X 3: regular, left and right
• 50 heel touches

20121112-145917.jpg
Breakfast was a no-brainer. It felt strange eating my overnight oats for lunch yesterday instead of breakfast, so it was greeted with a warm welcome back this morning.

I was slightly stupid when it came to my lunch time workout. The past week and a half, give or take, it’s been in the mid to low 40s. Today it was a whopping 65 degrees when I went to the gym. It’s absolutely beautiful and perfect out. The sun sat nice on my shoulders and there was a faint breeze that felt oh so good. This is my “perfect” non-summer weather, and my favorite to run in.

Since I had already covered 4 miles this morning, I only wanted to run 1 additional mile and get in 20 minutes on the vertical elliptical since I have Back & Biceps for tonight’s P90X workout.

20121112-150035.jpg
A run outdoors would have been so enjoyable, but I made sure to head out of the gym a few minutes early so that I could make my walk back to work a little bit longer. So glad I did, I feel like such a happier person for those minutes outside!

Lunch

You might want to close your eyes for this. Lunch certainly looks like vomit, but I promise you that it’s delicious and full of flavors.

Before I show you my lunch, I’m giving you another chance to look away. Below you will find a mix of tuna, salsa and a slightly browned avocado. You’ve been warned.

20121112-150112.jpg
I swear it’s not Jakes’ cat food! The flavors actually reminded me of my Mom’s addicting pasta salad. So good!

Tonight I’ll be heading to Allie & Kris’ to hang out for the night. I haven’t seen those two in a week and a half so it’ll be good to see the girls again!

Oh, and be sure to come back for my next post which will reveal a before and after photo for P90X. Today marks Day 30 of P90X which means that progress pictures are due. I’m THRILLED with my results so far!

Happy Election Day…Running to Vote!

Last night I didn’t end up getting home until after 12:30, so I had planned accordingly with my boss prior and decided that I’d come in several hours late so that I could get some sleep and also vote. No way in heavens was I going to stand in the long voting lines at 5:30 tonight.

I hope you guys have voted or plan to later in the day. It’s your RIGHT and you should take advantage of that. That being said, after sleeping until 7:30, I laced up my sneakers and got ready for my run.

Our polls are located at the middle school, which is connected to my neighborhood by a bike path. My original plan was to run outside and near the end of my run, take the bike path to the middle school. I figured I could kill 2 birds with one stone. Workout and voting completed together.

I warmed up with a 2.5 mile run on my treadmill before layering up with my Nike Dri-Fit long sleeve shirt.

I should have rethought my outfit. My little legs were freezing, my fingers claimed victim to frostbite, and my ears were burning red. Okay, so there was no frostbite, but it would have been wise to look at the weather forecast BEFORE I went running and not after.

Every few steps I was sniffing snot and realized that by the time I made it to the polls, I’d probably have to stand outside in my inadequate clothing. At that point, I ran home and completed a 1.6 mile run, bringing my total to 4.1. A straight shot from my house to the school, via the path, would have been about 1 mile, and I wish I had sucked it up because in my town there were barely any lines!

After doing a little core work, I showered and downed a chocolate peanut butter banana protein shake before I packed up my work bag and headed to vote. I was in and out within 30 minutes! Lines my ass!

Originally I wanted dippy eggs and toast for breakfast, but because of my little running miscalculation, I was low on time so had to enjoy the above smoothie. Instead, my prepared breakfast was enjoyed as my lunch. Mixing it up a bit with those oats. 😉

And you guys thought I could go a day without oats. That’s almost as silly as me going a day without peanut butter!

Got my vote in, workout done and oats consumed. It’s gonna be a good day.

GO VOTE!!

I Love Me Some Overnight Oats

It’s a no brainer that I am obsessed, addicted, and completely devoted to overnight oats. In the past I had always seen blogger after blogger talking only good things about overnight oats, but there were just 2 things holding me back before I caved into the madness.

The biggest factor was that I didn’t have chia seeds, and every store that I visited, was sold out. I read that the chia seeds were the all-star in the oats, giving it not only the perfect texture and consistency, but also packing a healthy punch in every bite, so I refused to try the oats until I had my own bag of chia seeds. In fact, chia seeds are so popular that the demand has increased by 200% as of late.

Chia Seeds are holy for so many reasons, including:

  • Powerhouse food
  • High in protein, fiber & omega-3
  • Increase energy, improve digestion, tone muscles, aid in better sleep and better your complexion

The 2nd factor was the look of it. It looked like a bowl of pure mush and I honestly was weary as to how oatmeal would taste cold. I mean, I never enjoyed when my warm bowl of banana bread oatmeal got a little too cold, so how was I going to enjoy mushy cold oatmeal?

I finally found the seeds, whipped up a bowl, and the next morning I was head over heels in love. Love at first bite. Sounds so very Edward Cullen!

There are still so many different variations of the oats that I am excited to try but for now, I’m hooked on my Raspberry Mango Overnight Oats and my PB and J Overnight Oats.

Overnight Oats have to be one of the easiest meals to throw together. It typically takes me about 3 minutes to prepare.

PB & J Overnight Oats

Directions:

1. In a bowl mix together:

  • ½ cup oats
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • PB2 – as much as you want
  • 1 container Chobani Strawberry Banana
  • 2 tbsp (or as much as you prefer) Chia Seeds

2. Cover the bowl and let the oats sit in the fridge overnight. In the morning, stir the oats and top with sliced bananas and raspberries.

I find that the texture of Greek yogurt yields the best results, and obviously Chobani is the no-brainer, I mean, if they had a cult I’d be one of their top members.

Mix it all up and throw in the toppings of your choice. To complete my Peanut Butter and Jam Overnight Oats bowl I tossed in banana slices and raspberries.

Grab a spoon and join my cult!

Hit By a Bus.. And a Train.. And a Plane

Since Saturday evening I’ve had that “hit by a bus” feeling. My body is drained, my appetite is weird, and I have headaches galore. Simply put, I feel terrible. Coincidentally it’s Recovery Week in P90X. There we go, that explains it.

Sunday

After several attempts at having a productive Sunday, it turned into the ultimate lazy day.

I woke up at 7, which was technically 8, but I wish I had gotten the memo to sleep in! After a little couponing, I somehow ran 4 miles, but it wasn’t impressive. I was surprised my body even allowed me to go that far. I could tell it wanted to snap in half. At 3.8 miles I thought I was going to collapse and face plant on the treadmill.

After my defeated run, I skipped any other form of exercise. No strength training, no core work, not even the P90X workout that was scheduled. My body told me no more and I listened.

Instead, I went over to the Barking Dog to watch my Dad compete in an agility competition with Kip. It was so entertaining and priceless to watch dogs and their owners compete in the agility course.

20121105-131526.jpg
Most of the dogs are young and are in the agility classes that the Barking Dog offers, so by no means were these dogs ready for the BIG competitions.

I had plans to spend the rest of the afternoon at Barnes & Noble working on the blog and also tackling additional work that I really cannot disclose upon on here, but after 45 minutes I could barely concentrate and just wanted a nap. It didn’t help that it smelled like a litter box in the area I was sitting in! Or the man that would ask me every 10 minutes to keep an eye on his books so he could use the bathroom.

I packed it up and called it a day after successfully posting pictures on Facebook, oops, and finding several projects of interest on the internet. See, it wasn’t a complete fail!

20121105-131632.jpg
I spent the rest of my afternoon and evening finishing Gone Girl and cuddling on the couch with Kip while we drooled over Gary Sinise in CSI:NY. Well, Kip drooled over Sela Ward and left Gary to me.

The highlight of my evening were the Baked Carrot Chips that I successfully made after a somewhat less successful attempt last week.

20121105-131720.jpg
These babies are addicting and the entire batch was gone within the hour.

Baked Carrot Chips

Ingredients:

• 1 Bag of Carrot Chips
• Olive Oil

Directions:

1.) Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil – A dish could also work
2.) Toss the carrot chips in the desired amount of olive oil, but enough to cover the carrots fully
3.) Sprinkle with desired seasonings
4.) Spread on the cookie sheet and bake for roughly 40 minutes. If you bake these at a higher heat you’ll have to adjust the timing as well.

I didn’t even keep track of the time on these, I simply just checked on them every now and then until they were nice and crispy.

Today

Let’s not talk about today. I feel even worse than yesterday, although I felt pretty fantastic during this mornings workout.

Morning Workout

• 3.5 mile run
• 2 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 1:13 plank hold
• 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
• 30 toe touches
• 20 Minutes of Core Synergetics (P90X – the rest of the scheduled workout will be done after work)
• Stretching

My appetite hasn’t showed up today but still forced myself to eat the bowl of overnight oats that I brought to work. Okay, I didn’t have to force myself at all; it was the best batch yet! Not sure what it was, but boy was that bowl good!

A Tree Through My Brother’s Window

While Sandy raged throughout the East Coast, I had Gone Girl and my furball son to keep me safe. A boyfriend would have been better, but sadly there are no prospects on the horizon. Well there is one hunk, who I’d like a chance with.

If he doesn’t work, do you think I can lure handsome hunks in with some Halloween candy?

My friends from near and far all sent texts making sure I was okay.

20121030-141544.jpg

I love B. He was my roomie in Los Angeles, and also the man who made me walk 4 miles on my birthday for my sushi dinner. Ass Sweetheart.

20121030-141637.jpg

B.Mays is my girl from Iowa. How’d a New Hampshire chick find a solid friend in Iowa? It’s all thanks to being team members for Dashboard Confessional’s street team 3 years ago. Yes, we were cool.

Some of my other street team favs include Anthony, Lindsay and Shauna. Love you my little munchkins!

While we didn’t get hit too badly, aside from flooding and downed trees, last night I received word that a tree went through my brother and sister-in-laws bedroom window! And to think I was there this past weekend.

20121030-141838.jpg

20121030-141952.jpg

The former Mayor lives across the street from them so luckily he offered his help to Ryan and Chelsey. The police came and told them to move everything out of their living room, which is right below their bedroom on the first floor. This is because when the tree is cut into pieces and removed, remnants and limbs might go through the living room windows as well.

I’m thankful Ry, Chels and little bitty Henrique are safe. Remember the other night how I said I’d consider moving to Harrisburg when I relocate? HA!

All things aside, I woke up to a house with power, which meant I was able to get my run in.

Morning Workout

• 3.5 mile run
• 3 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• :30 second plank holds, regular and both sides
• 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
• 50 crunches & 50 side-to-side crunches
• 2 sets of 100s Abs
• Stretching

I had a quick make-out sesh with my bowl of Raspberry Mango Overnight Oats. This is the most committed I’ve ever been in a relationship. I kid. Speaking of relationships, today marks my 6-month anniversary with my current firm. THAT’S IT?!

Back to this work relationship thing my career.

Go Away Hurricane Sandy

While I love visiting Ryan & Chelsey in Harrisburg, it’s always nice to be back home, falling asleep in my big, fluffy bed with my little Jake-a-bean snuggled by my feet. If they didn’t live 7-8 hours away I would try and get down there once a month, but it’s really only doable with a long weekend. While they’ve hinted at me taking their spare room, Harrisburg is very much so on my list of potential relocation areas that I’m consider in a handful of months.

20121029-114046.jpg

They live one block from the river front, which means daily runs by the river. Yes please! The downtown is cute and not overwhelming, and they have awesome friends who I’ve been able to meet every time I visit. It’d also make it a lot easier helping the bride-to-be plan her wedding!

The downside is that they still get snow and cold weather. Talk about a total con!

I was SO happy to be reunited with my bowl of overnight oats this morning. I went TWO days without the oatty goodness. TWO days. Cold turkey. I was going crazy without my precious oats, and demolished the bowl in seconds flat.

Such a good way to start my Monday off. Oh speaking of having a good Monday, we are officially in a State of Emergency as Hurricane Sandy makes her way up state. That’s cool, really cool. New Jersey and New York are currently getting hit extremely hard. Check out the pictures courtesy of the Today Show.

20121029-114152.jpg

20121029-114215.jpg

I hope everyone is staying safe! You never know if a storm like this will actually play out to its full potential. I certainly hope it’s a fluke and we don’t flood or lose power!

I’ve run in a Tsunami warning before, so this little Sandy girl can’t stop me.

Morning Workout

• 4 mile run
• 1:21 plank hold
• 50 mountain climbers
• 4 sets of 15 stair push-ups
• 50 crunches & 50 side-to-side crunches
• 50 scissors
• Stretching

Today was the time trial day of Tina’s 4-Week Plank Challenge, and if you recall, Friday’s time was 1:17, which means I held it for an additional 4 seconds. 4 seconds is 4 seconds.

The Governor has urged all companies to send workers home early and to be off of the roads by 3pm at the latest. I’m hoping that my boss lets us out early, so I’m about to take my lunch around 12:30 instead of 1:30. After a weekend of unhealthy eating and minimal cardio, I’m craving a sweaty cardio session.
