Crazy Cat Lady

This post is going to make me seem like a crazy cat lady, but I swear, I’m not. No really, I’m not.

Last night I crawled into bed in my new shoes and continued reading Skinnydipping, a book I’ve been reading for a little bit. The book started to get extremely good and addicting, and I couldn’t put it down. I had Jake cuddling with me, but I soon started getting a food headache, so I grabbed a 100 calorie greek yogurt as a late night reading snack.

Jake really enjoyed licking the container clean.

Then Jake-a-bean got a little mad that it was empty. He stared the container down hoping that more yogurt would magically appear.

Then he attacked. 6.7 seconds later he passed out.

I started my day off with a 4 mile run at 8:30 in my new Nike’s! The first few runs are always a tough transition, and this morning was definitely one of those runs, but I know that these shoes are going to carry me through endless kickass runs and races this spring and summer. I can’t wait!

After my run, I downed a smoothie before heading to the gym for my last training session with Heather. I wasn’t thinking when we chose today as our last workout, and forgot that 1) the gym would be packed since it was a holiday, and 2) an 11:30 workout meant no sleeping in if I wanted to run beforehand.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the end of my training package, mainly because I’m a wimp, but today felt very bittersweet. I convinced myself that Heather would put me through the worst last workout ever, but she completely forgot it was our last time together, so I didn’t suffer as badly as I was expecting (read: no burpees, thank the lord!).

After the gym, I ran into the grocery store to grab frozen strawberries, before gasing up and giving Jax a car wash.

He’s had this awful bird crap plastered to the windshield for a week, and I figured since no snow was in the forecast, today was the perfect day to clean him up. He’s looking like a 9 right now. I’d give him a 10 but the bird poo is practically still glued to my window.

The rest of my day off includes meal prepping for the week (brussels, carrots and bbq chicken are in the oven), and then grabbing dinner with Lindsay and Lauren in several hours. I haven’t seen Lauren in ages, so I’m so very excited to see her pretty little face!

Mini college reunions are the best! 🙂

Terrible Thursday

Today my middle name should be “unlucky,” because since the moment I woke up today, anything and everything has gone wrong.

Kinda odd since I had such a great Girl’s Night with Lindsay last night.

We started the night off by baking dinner, which included a baked sweet potato with buttah and cinnamon, green beans and salmon in a greek yogurt/dill/garlic powder dressing. SO GOOD. 3

We followed the night up with an episode of The Biggest Loser, and when that ended, Lindsay read my cards, because she is a gypsy and I needed relationship direction. 90% of the time, my readings with Lindsay are very accurate. I’ll never forget the time in college when she was reading them and they were so depressingly accurate, that our roomie, Michelle was cracking up while I was crying.

My reading basically said that I was with someone who was a work-a-holic and easily forgets about other priorities, that a discussion needs to be had, etc etc, and that there is creativity in my future. Once again, the reading was dead on and I left knowing what had to be done.

Since I’ve kind of been a bit emotional this week, I went home and ate about 3 1/2 jars of my favorite cereal while reading blogs (hey Amy! that dessert mug you made looked amaze!). I actually unofficially met Amy yesterday through Tina’s Twitter chat with Wayfair.

This morning I woke up feeling nasty and was so disappointed in myself that I let my emotions get the best of me last night. I wasn’t even hungry for that cereal but I wanted to drown my sorrows, so I did. Not worth it. Crap.

Waking up feeling like a chunk was what began the series of unfortunate events:

1. When my final snooze went off at 5:35, I turned it off and closed my eyes, telling myself I’d get up in 30 seconds. 15 minutes later I woke up, which is the exact time I should be on the treadmill by.

2. Half a mile in, I coughed and my gum hit the display area, and bounced down the treadmill to the cement ground. There goes that.

3. Accidentally hit the Emergency Stop button and almost ate shit due to the sudden stop.

4. Dropped my phone down the stairs.

It’s only 6:50 at this point. I’ve been awake exactly an hour and already have had a crappy day.

5. Left for work and realized I forgot my workout pants which I needed since I had personal training today. Drove back and grabbed them.

6. At 11:15 I went to change and realized I never forget my pants to begin with. I now have 2 pairs. Cool.

7. My trainer forgot about me. Again.

All of that by 11:40 am today. They say bad things happen in threes. Errrr? I’m so scared for the rest of the day! 🙁

By the time I realized Heather forgot about me, I was so fed up with everything that happened and how I’ve been treated this week that I went bezerk on my cardio workout. It felt so good to push myself to the limit and I do feel a lot better and currently have girl power raging through my veins.

It’s crazy how 1 workout can flip your entire attitude for the day, and I’m secretly happy I didn’t have training today because honestly, I just wasn’t feeling it and didn’t want her to beat me up. I just wish I had a longer lunch break so I could’ve kept my workout going!

The rest of my day should get better, because for starters I just rammed that beautiful container of roasted veggies and a veggie burger down my throat. Plus, tonight I get to see Lindsay again for Round 2 of Girl’s Night. Our library is throwing its 2nd Annual Ladies’ Night! Don’t laugh because you really don’t know what you’re missing! There will be vendors with jewelry, fragrances, make-up, candles, etc. And our personal favorite is the veggie/fruit/DESSERT spread!

Please pray that my crankiness ends right now!

P.S, keep your eyes out for the new design that should be in place any moment now. 🙂

The Weird Things Melatonin Does to Me

My best friend Allie always told me that because I always have things to tell her, that I need to make lists so that I never forget a single piece of information. She’s been telling me this for at least 6 years now, and you’d think I’d learn. Not so much. You see, I’ve been meaning to tell you guys for days and days now about the status of my blog redesign but I keep forgetting!

So here we go! Tasha, my amazing designer, and I, have been working with each other for several weeks now in regards to my design. The first week involved me telling her the direction I wanted to go with the design, and the remainder of that week involved her putting together a draft of the design. The 2nd week entailed me telling her what parts I wanted tweaked, in regards to colors and placement. Well, this past Tuesday she sent me the draft that I finally said yes to! I’m probably the pickiest and worst client to work with, but there wasn’t a single piece of the design I wanted to change. Between now and Tuesday I should be receiving word that the coding is complete, and hopefully after that it’s a simple process to get the new Running on Peanut Butter design up!

Moving on to an embarrassing story, because every Friday needs to be filled with funny stories. Last night I worked out after work, and typically late night workouts keep me up late, and because I didn’t want to suffer through insomnia, I popped 2 melatonin tablets. I’ve never had an issue with these before. If anything, I just have really odd dreams. So last night before my workout, Mark called me and we talked for a bit. He was just about to head to happy hour so he asked if he could call me after.

By 8:30 I was in bed reading, and by 9 the lights were out, as I was fading fast. Around 9:50 I woke from a dead sleep and saw that he was on the phone with me. Now if you have an iPhone, then you know you have to push “Answer” or “Ignore” with an incoming call, otherwise, if you’re the one making the call, it shows all your options (speaker, mute, keypad, etc). Well when I woke up, I was looking at all of those options with his name at the top. I freaked out because I thought I “sleep dialed” him, so I quickly hung up on him. What do you know, 10 seconds later he’s calling me back.

Long story short, we went back and forth in regards to whether 1) I was drunk 2) I sleep dialed him 3) he called me and I hung up on him 4) I was drunk 5) I was drugged 6) I sleep dialed him. Aside from him telling me someone stole his credit card, our 15 minute conversation went round and round in circles about whether I sleep dialed him. Turns out, he called me at 9:30, then again at 9:50, where I proceeded to hang up on him, before I finally picked up.

Guys, I don’t remember any of this. I don’t remember answering the phone the first time. What the heck is in those melatonin pills?! Not only that, but I woke up at 5:25 freaking out and thinking I was extremely late, when in reality, my alarm wasn’t due to go off until 5:40.

New Image

As you probably guessed, I’m tired. And rambling. And counting down the hours until the weekend thanks to Jaime, who always has the countdown going.

Waking up 15 minutes early does have several pros, like being able to run farther than usual. Instead of my 4 mile run, I went 4.5 miles and tossed in several extra core exercises before heading to work.

Remember when my trainer forgot about me on Wednesday? Well yesterday she was supposed to let me know if we’d be training today or early next week. Never heard from her, and I was doing cartwheels and hand stands out of excitement. I’m on Week 10 of 12 and to be honest, I’m over this whole trainer thing. I think because I’ve started doing my own research on lifting weights via lifting websites and magazines that I really like creating my own workouts. Plus, I do love going to the gym knowing what body parts I’ll be working, whereas when Heather and I head out to the gym, that’s when I know what body part we’re working, and I never know the next move until I finish the prior move.

Well, guess who texted me today?4.1

Never, Heather. I don’t want to come in.

I might have dreaded the workout, but it was one of my favorites yet, aside from the vertical sit-ups, where I wanted to puke my mid-morning snack up on her face, and the “jump pull-ups to box burpee to push-up to box jump to jump pull-up.” Get why I hate it?

I feel really awesome right now after that workout and I’m glad I didn’t wuss out and tell her today didn’t work. Plus, only 2 more visits with her and then I’m a free bird! I deserve a crown.

I came back and was famished, so I went for a peanut butter and jelly Quest Bar with PB2 on top with a side of the remnants from last night’s veggie roast.

All I know is that I’m going to be very worried if I get last night’s asparagus farts. Most volatile farts I’ve ever smelt. Never eat asparagus with your crush, and only with your boyfriend/husband if he loves you in all of your smelly glory.

Jen, this one’s for you, because I finally found a Quest Bar that I won’t buy again. The pb&j Quest Bar came in at 210 calories (40-50 more calories than the average bar), and it wasn’t even spectacular.

Oh, and it’s my coworker’s birthday tomorrow so Nichole, our coworker who also has her own bakery business on the side, brought in various cupcakes to celebrate.

This bad boy has been staring me down since 8:15 am. Help me.

Boston Cream – Vanilla Cake with Bavarian Cream and a Chocolate Fudge Frosting. Now I’m extremely thankful for my workout with Heather today!

I ate the frosting and the cream filling. Who wants the cake?

Oh Hey Holiday Weight Gain

If there was a day that I could sleep until it was time for bed, today would be the day. Yesterday drained every ounce of energy and spunk I had from my body.

I left work at 12:30 for my 6th training session with Heather, and right when I found her in the gym she told me that she made her last client puke. I’m not sure if that was Heather’s goal for me, but if it was, she almost succeeded. Holy crap I’ve never been worked so hard in such a long time. It hurt so good! (If I wrote this post last night there would not have been any exclamation points after that last sentence, and based on how my body is NOT moving today, I think that exclamation point is solely for effect).

Heather had me doing my dreaded burpee dumbbell combo from hell, sumo squats with weight plates, pulse squats on steps, jump squats on steps, chest flies, rows, and core work from hell. There were only 2 small spots on my shirt that weren’t covered in sweat; otherwise, I looked like I had been thrown into a pool. In 57 minutes, Heather had me burn 456 calories, and was in the fat burning zone for 36 of those 57 minutes.

Once I got home, I showered and ate a bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter and apple butter, which actually wasn’t satisfying at all. Such a bummer! Once Ryan got home from the gym (yes he got to watch me go through hell!) and he showered and ate, we tore Chelsey away from her work and headed out to the Merrimack Outlets with my Mom to browse the sales and return several Christmas items.

I ended up leaving with quite the appetite and also a new pair of dark wash jeans and clearance earrings from American Eagle.

By the time we got back into town, it was 7 pm, and Ry, Chels and my parents had dinner plans with Ry’s best friend, Tim, his wife and his parents. Unfortunately I had to pass on the dinner since my body was physically and mentally exhausted, and the thought of being out until about 10 was just not appealing to me at all.

So instead, I pretty much ate everything in the fridge, blogged about Christmas, and put away clean gym clothes with the help of Kip and his new stuffed alligator.

This morning I woke up feeling like a football team trampled over me. My inner thighs burn, my arms hurt to lift, and my core is sore, but I know this is a great thing to be suffering through.

Morning Workout

• 4 mile run
• 50 crunches
• 50 heel touchers
• 1 minute plank hold
• 40 plank tucks
• Stretching

I wasn’t sure how a morning run would pan out, but I surprised myself by covering 4 miles pretty quickly!

I have a confession to make that I think most of us can also admit to. I went overboard with holiday treats. Having Christmas cookies and chocolate around the house has definitely not been friendly on my waist. Coupled with Ryan being home, that means our pantry is packed with chips and other unhealthy temptations that I’ve given in to. I’ve put off weighing myself for a solid week and a half and when I woke up this morning I felt like complete shit. I knew I wasn’t going to like the number on the scale but I had to step on it to face the truth and tackle my weight loss starting this morning. I wasn’t pleased with the number, and even though it wasn’t as high as I was expecting, I easily gained 2 pounds since the 19th.

So, starting today, I am on a god damn mission to tone up, lose weight, and be at a healthy weight. After seeing myself from several bad angles in Christmas pictures, I knew that was the last straw. This morning, I opened excel and created a weight tracker. Having specific dates to track my weight make it mandatory. I’m starting off weighing myself every 2 days, which will add up to 3 times a week. I know there are many opinions on how often one should weigh themselves, but I need the accountability and this is what works for me (for now).

My next weigh in is scheduled for Sunday, and I am determined to weigh a little less than I do today.

Did you guys slip up during the Holidays and paying for the weight gain now? If so, how do you plan on conquering the weight gain? I love hearing new and different ways!

Killer Workout and Killer Healthy Muffin

Last night my Aunt Judy, who hosts Christmas every year, sent out an email with what each family/individual brought to the feast and also highlighted special guests and fun activities we enjoyed. With the Christmas list generated, I am anxiously reading through blogs and browsing Pinterest in hopes of finding a delicious and creative dessert to bring. So that’s what my day has basically been comprised of. Oh and work too, but less of that and more of dessert browsing. Priorities people. 😉

Today’s awesomeness has been, well, purely awesome. Not only did I get a great workout in today, but I also have enjoyed quite a few yummy meals.

Before we get to the fun food, let’s talk about workouts.

Last Night’s Personal Training

Last night Heather put me through a bitching workout. In between dripping pounds of sweat on the gym floor and guzzling water, I made sure she knew how crazy she was. Just look at her nasty workout she put me through last night and tell me you wouldn’t be cursing her out too.

The one thing I love about this workout is that I can easily do it at my home gym in my basement. We have several different bars from when my brother lifted weights at home so I’m happy to report that this one will be done in the comforts of my home and not in front of my coworker. Yup, my ass was a foot in front of my coworkers face while I did those stupid burpees and he did some type of core work. Talk about awkward!

Today’s Workout

• 5 mile run
• 1 minute plank hold
• 50 crunches
…followed by this sucker!

My run was ridiculously easy, and by easy I mean I wasn’t huffing and puffing and swearing at my midg legs to keep me going. I’m not going to say anything so that I don’t jinx myself, but I might have blogged last week about my runs being more difficult due to the workouts from my trainer. Not sure what’s happening this week, but I love how toned my arms and back have become, and my legs are feeling much better as well. I’ll just blame the running improvements on my physical improvements.

This morning, even though I was pressed for time and running late, I decided I wanted to switch up my meals for the day.

I started my morning off with half of a grapefruit. I just love tangy sweetness to kick off my mornings, with half of a mini cup of applesauce, the rest was used for lunch, and a protein shake to go. This time, I only made my shake with milk. No frozen naners, ice or spinach. Wah.

I stayed true to my breakfast #2 of a Chobani strawberry power bowl, which included flax seed, chia seeds, raw oats and PB2. I CAN’T give that goodness up. Chobani will be included in my “last meal,” no doubt about that!

Lunch is where the big change came. I decided to leave my grilled chicken, sweet potatoes and cherry tomatoes for tomorrow and had the urge to try STUFT Mama’s Healthy Apple Microwave Muffin.

This had to have been one of the easiest and healthiest recipes for a quick meal or snack. I followed the recipe exactly, aside from subbing cinnamon for the nutmeg, and microwaved the muffin for 5 minutes exactly. Perfect timing.

I reheated it at work and topped it with the remnants of my PB2 and a tablespoon of Land o’ Lakes Cinnamon Sugar butter spread since I’ve been dying to try it for months and didn’t have enough PB2.

Kristin you are a genius and I love you forever. If I still lived in California I’d sure as hell be having muffin mug dates with you pretty much every single day.

You guys HAVE to try this! I can’t wait to try Kristin’s other variations on the muffin. I’m thinking my next one will have to be a moist chocolately version as a little nighttime dessert.

Time for the Christmas movies!

Double Digits December

Happy double digits December!

I cannot believe that it is already December 10th. This month and year has flown by way too quickly. It seems like so much has happened so far this year:

Last night I cozied up by the fire with the tree in the background while I watched a holiday favorite, 12 Men of Christmas.

If you love Josh Hopkins from Cougar Town and are a fan of yearly calendars with half-naked men, then you’ll love this one. Just watch it with your girls and not your man. 😉

This morning I woke up and had an amazing run, despite last night’s workout which was full of squats on the Smith Machine and elevated lunges.

Morning Workout

  • 3.8 mile run
  • 4 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 1 minute plank hold
  • 50 heel touchers
  • 30 toe touches
  • 2 sets of 20 mountain climbers
  • 30 second wall sit
  • 50 twisted crunches
  • Stretching

Breakfast was a feast. Seriously not sure where my appetite came from since I stuffed face last night during movie time, but my stomach required a lot of nourishment.

Along with half of a grapefruit, I enjoyed a green mustache courtesy of the spinach in my chocolate protein shake.

Then I had one of my Momma’s mini Pumpkin muffins that she made yesterday, along with a Chobani Mango power bowl, which included chia seeds, flaxseeds and raw oats.

My Mom actually told me I couldn’t take credit, buttttttt I will say that these are the EXACT same pumpkin muffins I made, except she went for the minis. Now she’s trying to steal my thunder! 😉

I also enjoyed an undocumented banana dipped into PB2 before enjoying grilled chicken and half of a baked sweet potato.

This afternoon I have personal training session #4 with Heather so I’ll be skipping my lunch time workout like I typically do on Mondays. I’m thinking it’s going to be a killer leg day, but that’s just my intuition speaking.

Alright, time to get back to work and get psyched for tonight’s workout! Hope everyone’s having a great Monday.

I Hate Burpees

As I sit here at my computer, the actual typing of this post is literally painful. Last night, after battling a case of hot flashes and the chills at work, Heather put me through a workout that made me want to cry. My arms were screaming bloody murder, and this morning, they’re screaming revenge on Heather.

It was such a quick workout, but it definitely wasn’t easy. Once we got to the TRX area, the first words out of her mouth were, “burpee time.”

Bugh, seriously!

I don’t hate burpees, but I don’t like them either. The only time I hate them is when I wear a loose shirt and people are around. Check and check.

Now I know I have abs of steel (I can dream!), but I hate the idea of being watched and critiqued by outsiders while my shirt is flip-flopping in the wind with my stomach in full view. It’s just not cute.

The burpee workout had me holding two 10-lb dumbbells. I’d place the dumbbells on the ground, hop back, do a push up, hop up, do a bicep curl to an overhead press. 15 bloody times.

We then headed to the cables to do 2 different chest/shoulder/back workouts which included crossing my arms in an X and hugging a tree. I left my paper in my car so that’s as technical as we’ll get. 😉

This was followed by 2 variations of TRX cable pull-ups, high and low, side planks with a lateral dumbbell raise with a hip dip, and finally jump squats into overhead presses.

This workout was repeated once but it was hated for the entire night.

When I got home, I was feeling a lot better than earlier in the day, and no longer suffered the hot and cold flashes. I enjoyed Thanksgiving #2 leftovers and then settled on the couch with a bag of pretzel sticks. I was seriously lacking in the carbs department and needed comfort food while I watched a Christmas movie.

I was out cold by 8:30 last night and slept like a rock, but with all that sleep, I still needed MORE. Don’t you just hate how long it can take for your body to recover from several hard and tiring days?

I contemplated taking a personal day, then quickly decided against it and gave my morning run a shot. It was a lot easier than I had anticipated, but I’ve noticed ever since I’ve started working with my personal trainer, that my runs have become more difficult. I realize it’s from the workouts Heather has been putting me through, but boy, my mornings are 10 times more difficult now!

Morning Workout

• 3.2 mile run
• 1 minute plank
• 50 heel touchers
• 50 crunches
• 30 toe touchers
• 100’s abs
• 2 sets of 13 standing dumbbell side crunches
• Stretching

This is how we do planks in my house. Jake ALWAYS has to sit underneath my chest. I feel bad when I drip an incredible amount of sweat on him, but he never seems phased. He keeps me going. My little motivator for not crashing on him.

Breakfast was once again half of a grapefruit and a chocolate protein shake before work and a Chobani pomegranate yogurt bowl several hours later at work.

I have my legs & arms workout scheduled for today, but my body is so sore that I’m contemplating either taking the day off completely or just doing light cardio for a little at the gym.

Tonight I’ll be heading to my cousin Lindze’s house to have dinner and spend the evening with her and her husband, Mike, so an evening workout isn’t doable.

I’ll have to decide quickly!

Will Someone Please Chop My Legs Off?

My. Legs. Are. Killing. Me. And by “killing” I mean, painful, murderous, cringe-worthy cramping. Basically, SOS.

I know I mentioned the workout Heather put me through last night, but here’s the workout in her own words:

In my words, it’s the death workout brought to you by the fittest chick around and completed by an innocent and helpless participant; me.

My legs were so tight when I woke up that I almost crumpled to the floor when I got out of bed. I instantly knew my morning run wasn’t going to be much of a run, and I told myself if I could make it through 2 miles that that would be fantastic.

By .15 miles I wanted to cut my legs off, but I kept going and pushed through the pain and decided to run in increments of .50 miles, stretch my legs, run .50 again, stretch, and continually repeating until I had to get ready for work.

I miraculously made it to 3 miles; don’t ask me how I did that because I don’t even know. I clearly wasn’t running with my legs, so it must’ve been all heart carrying me.

Morning Workout

  • 3 mile run, .20 mile walk
  • 50 heel touchers
  • 30 toe touchers
  • 50 scissors
  • 2 sets of 50 crunches
  • 1 minute plank

Before work, I enjoyed half of an undocumented grapefruit and a chocolate cookies & cream protein shake. I’ve been out of spinach for 2 days so I’ve been missing that little all-star from my morning shakes. Luckily he’ll return tomorrow!

I got hungry pretty quickly at work, and tried a new version of oatmeal. Plain oatmeal with almond milk with a chunk of PB2 on top. Verdict: Awful. Not too sure what all those crazy bloggers are talking about when they rave about this! 😉

After several bites and a full stomach, I tossed about ¾ of the bowl in the trash. It was too bland and not worth the calories. What a perfectly good waste of my PB2! Is there a secret to this bowl to make it delish? I think my issue was that I pre-cooked the oats last night and reheated the bowl this morning. Probably just not enough peanut butter. Duh!

My hunger has held off for the most part all morning, but with my legs & arms workout scheduled for my lunch break, I know I’ll need fuel, so I’m enjoying a mushy apple and a handful of almonds.

Now it’s time for my legs & arms workout. Poor legs!

I’m soooo dreading my 4 sets of 30 step-ups!

P.S, what’s the weather like in your area today?

It just started snowing in New Hampshire!

Seizing Legs and Momma’s Birthday!

What a workout Heather put me through this evening. She had my legs shaking and seizing like an earthquake, and at one point when I mentioned how sweaty I was, she pointed out that I was so drenched that it looked like I had just showered. Aint that sexy!

I was literally dripping sweat onto the floor with every body movement. So stinkin’ gross!

Heather had my workout centered around the dredded Smith Machine, where I did 3 sets of 10 squats with different variations with my stance. The first I was wide legged, the 2nd set my feet were shoulder-width apart, and the 3rd set my feet were together. Heather then put my through sumo squats, before I did weighted bar lunges and shoulder work.

Thankfully my cousin Nikki who was at the gym taking a spinning class came over to say bye to me after her class and she saved me by giving me a quick breather in between sets.

Then it was back to Heather kicking my ass, but I love the pain. She makes pain feel so good, and she laughs at my jokes so I couldn’t ask for a better trainer. 😉

When I got home I fixed myself another batch of 3-Ingredient Healthy Pancakes, before we started to celebrate my Mom’s birthday and my parent’s 32nd wedding anniversary.

My Mom got her favorite Yankee Candle, Pink Sands, along with the car freshener, a book, an Imax and Nook gift card, a sweater and tank top and Bath & Body Works Christmas scented plug-ins.

Ryan and I also got them a $75 gift card to The Library, an expensive restaurant they went to on the seacoast for their anniversary last year.

Then it was time to celebrate with strawberry cheesecake.

Oh my goodness. I dug right into my slice and didn’t feel guilty one bit. Hey, I kicked ass at the gym this evening so it was earned!

Now I’m snuggled on the couch and watching the 2-night finale of Dancing with the Stars. Go Kelly & Val!

I’ve Got a Double Whammy Post-Holiday Monday Blues

I don’t know about you guys, but it sure was difficult to get up this morning, plus it didn’t help that I stayed up until 10 pm watching Hitched for the Holidays, with heartthrob Joey Lawrence.

Typically I am in bed and reading from 9 until 10, or before if I’m exhausted, that way I don’t have the annoying TV syndrome to keep me wired and awake late into the night. Last night I made an exception since I was in the holiday mood, and I just have to gush over how funny and cute the movie was!

By the time I was in brushed and in bed, it was a little after 10, and I HAD to listen to Lisha explain a new show on MTV, so I was ready for shuteye around quarter of 11. Ick.

In all seriousness, have you guys heard of the show called, Catfish? We think the title is a ripoff of Plentyoffish. According to Lisha, it’s almost like, “True Life,” but the people on the show have been dating someone online for years + and they contact this man who I’m assuming is the host of the show to schedule a meeting.

Just read Lisha’s descriptions:

Basically I NEED to watch this show, especially since I love online dating! Luckily I’ve never had horror stories like this before, and only some guys have looked a little different in person.

This morning I woke up 5 minutes before my alarm was scheduled to go off. Isn’t that the worst? I was so excited to look at the clock and get a warm greeting that I still had several extra hours to sleep, but not this morning.

I dragged myself out of bed and pouted in the bathroom before I went for a miserable run. My body is definitely not used to running this early, even if it had only been since Wednesday that I ran at 6.

Morning Workout

  • 3.7 mile run
  • 3 sets of 15 stair push-ups
  • 1 minute plank and 30 seconds each side
  • 50 crunches and 50 side-to-side crunches
  • 50 heel touchers
  • 100’s abs
  • 30 scissors
  • Stretching

It felt great to be pressed for time again and be able to get down to business with my workouts. I think lacking that time frame to get my workouts in on the weekends result in me ignoring my core or strength work. I lollygag on the weekends, what can I say, it’s a talent.

Before heading out the door to work, I enjoyed half of a juicy grapefruit and a chocolate cookies & cream protein shake. I had to mix it up this morning since I ran out of the protein I was using before, but damn, that shake was so satisfying!

I didn’t have time to snap a picture but into the shake went:

  • 8 oz almond milk
  • ½ scoop each of chocolate protein and cookies & cream protein
  • Handful of ice cubes
