If there is one aspect of the fitness industry that I love the most, it is that there are so many different options for fitness. Different choices when it comes to choosing what type of workout that you want to do. Maybe you want to run one day and take a kickboxing class the next. From spinning, CrossFit, barre, yoga, running, and weight-lifting, there are various avenues that you can focus on, or incorporate several into your weekly routine.
The same can be said when it comes to supplements. You can take whey protein, or casein, or both. Maybe you prefer taking a pre-workout over a recovery amino acid drink. I hate spice, but I do love spicing up my fitness regime. Heck, I just tried barre again several weekends ago.
For me and most other fitness enthusiasts, fueling your body after your workout is just as important as your workout, if not more important. Some proteins hurt our stomachs, while other brands offer the best flavors we’ve ever tried. While I typically stick to the brand(s) that I know work great for me, I do love trying new products because you just never know if that product will be even better than what you currently use.
When I had the opportunity to try out Adaptogen’s TastyWHEY, I was crossing my fingers that I’d be accepted onto the FitFluential campaign. And here we are. I was accepted. I tried it. And I loved it.
I had just arrived home from my business trip to D.C when I found a big box on my couch from Adaptogen. Not only did I get a ginormous tub of protein, but they also sent me sample packets of their pre-workout, amino acid blend, fat burner and the coolest protein shaker ever.
The protein shaker’s top had a secret compartment to store your vitamins, while it also had a small removable container to store your protein in for on the go gym days. Pretty much obsessed with this bottle alone.
Not only was I super excited for pre-workouts since I’m in need of more, but I was also extremely excited to be back home and have a gym that I liked. I quickly changed into workout clothes and headed to the gym, drinking my pre-workout on the 15 minute drive. By the time I pulled in, I could feel the pre-workout kicking in, and it was making it’s presence known on my run.
After a run and strength work, I headed home and immediately opened up my tub of TastyWHEY. I decided to make a shake with it, so I added 8 oz of unsweetened vanilla almond milk with 1 scoop of the protein. Topped with ice cubes and blended up.
What I immediately noticed was that the shake had the perfect consistency. It wasn’t too liquidy, but not too thick. This consistency usually requires me to add frozen banana slices or Xantham Gum, so not having to do that immediately gave this protein a thumbs up.
While the consistency is great, what really matters is the taste. First sip and I was hooked. It was creamy and decadent like a chocolate milkshake, and I knew that this could be a staple in my life. I will be completely honest and say that a little bit after consuming the shake, my stomach did feel really “tight.”
Maybe it was something else that caused it, but I didn’t want to just attribute it to the shake, so later on in the week and following weeks, I tried it again. Several times. And it was amazing. I had no stomach issues, so clearly whatever happened the day I first tried it, was a fluke.
I love TastyWHEY blended with almond milk and ice, but when I tried it with just water, it was still just as good. Most protein shakes made with water I’m forced to chug because it tastes too thin and bleh with water, but with TastyWHEY, I actually wanted to take my time drinking it because it was really good!
This is a product that I would continue to buy, and my expectations for this whey protein were far exceeded.
