Yesterday was such a typical Monday. It started with accidentally hitting my snooze one too many times.
For being tired, the day actually flew by, thanks to pressing matters at work. Whenever I have one of those days where I’m not feeling my best, I don’t have the best energy for a workout, or it’s just meh, I have a few tricks that I like to incorporate into my day to make it not seem so bad! 🙂
My days almost always start with a workout, and even when I’m not feeling my best, a workout typically makes me feel a tiny bit better. Yesterday was really an off day in the gym, and since I didn’t want to do weights or have the energy in my legs to run for distance, I decided that a fat burning HIIT workout would make me feel awesome and be more effective than a 3-4 mile run. Plus, sprints always go by quickly since you’re constantly switching up your speeds!
Making sure I have healthy and satisfying meals and snacks also makes me feel healthier and more energized throughout the day, and less likely to snack on something bad. I ate meals loaded with lean proteins and veggies, and snacked on a peanut butter english muffin and a Quest Bar. These are the only chunks I like in my life.
I had been craving macaroni and cheese all weekend, so for dinner I decided to make a healthier version so that I wouldn’t feel weighed down or guilty… especially since I didn’t count a single macro all weekend and ate loads of peanut butter and pizza. Zoodles… and foodles, because I sliced my finger while trying to get the stub of the zucchini.
Topped with greek yogurt and cheese to give it a creamy cheesy taste! Guess what… not filling, ha, but craving satisfied.
And since the cheesy zoodles and unpictured chicken didn’t fill me up, I busted out the peanut butter that Nut Butter Nation gifted me. Holy crap you guys, this stuff is g-o-o-d! The Honey Vanilla Peanut Butter is my favorite because it tastes like cake batter. The vanilla is powerful but the good kind of powerful, and that’s why it reminds me so much of batter. I’m not a honey fan and was a little worried, but I didn’t taste that, or at least not enough to disturb me.
The Brown Sugar Cinnamon Peanut Butter tasted like I was at a fair on a chilly fall evening. This peanut butter would be the perfect coating for roasted almonds or granola, which is now going to be on my to-do list!
Pretty sure eating, girl time and the gym are the only relationships you need. And when you get to go out to dinner with a good guy from your past, it’s even better. That’s tonight! I thought it was just drinks, but then he turned into dinner? So now I’m all like, “what is even going on?”
How do you kick the Monday blues to the curb?
